Stuck in a nondescript shopping center, Camino Real offers good but not remarkable Mexican food. The server was attentive. While the interior was dated, the music playing inside brought the Latinx vibe to the meal. The chips and salsa were good (almost enough spice level for me). I ordered machaca con huevos, which was a decent sized serving, along with rice, beans, and a fried Serrano chili. I washed it all down with coffee, which also was acceptable but not exceptional. With those noted, what really stood out was the affordability here. The total was about $17 without tip. (My last 2 breakfasts out were around $30.) This place is a local gem. There are very traditional Mexican dishes and very very authentic. I live so many dishes here. All the French toast are yummy from the Fresa con crema to the dulce de leche. The chilaquiles are so authentic and spot on. Menudo was amazing specifically the white menudo. It was worth all the way from Northern California to eat. The server Eloysa was super friendly and accommodating. The chef came out to greet us to share a little history of his culinary experience and boy he didn't disappoint. Just an absolutely delicious and amazing meal. So, my first time back since the change of new ownership. The restaurant itself still looks the same, a significant change in the menu, but luckily, they kept one of the original waitress The food looked good and tasted good, slightly above average, rice a bit on the dry side, I miss the old signature green pork chili verde salsa, I miss my soft beef tacos, which was a soft and moist corn tortilla, wrap around a small bundle of shredded beef, with onions, cilantro and a dab of guac, all wrapped in paper, then foil, now replaced with street tacos, we don't need street tacos, you can get street tacos from the street, at any block you pass. Also missing from the menu is the Chipotle cream chicken burrito, will miss that one for sure. I miss the old ownership and all my favorite waitresses. I will come back once more, to try the special nachos with meat, and if it's just average in taste, then most likely, I will be changing my customer status from, go to Mexican restaurant, to an occasional visit! read more

I am so disappointed! This has been my go to restaurant for years. Their prices have increased, which I can understand. Why won't I return? I asked for hot water and was told I would be charged for tea which I know is somewhere between three and five dollars. My mom wanted to try a new place for Mother's Day so we decided to dine here on the Friday before. The restaurant was completely empty around 6pm, and throughout our time there until close to 8pm only 1 other party (a family of 3) came in. We were the only ones in the entire restaurant and I thought that was unusual. I didn't think that was a good sign, but I figured (or hoped) that people were just busy elsewhere considering it was a holiday weekend. Service was slow, but our waitress was really nice. I liked that the place had plenty of booths and overall had cute decor, but the food was absolutely disgusting in my opinion. I ordered the Chile Verde Nachos and they had no flavor. They don't come with beans so I asked to add some and they hardly put any. The chips were dark and greasy. They don't come with sour cream so I asked for a side. They had a tiny bit of guacamole on top. The flavor was just not good. I forced myself to eat some because I also ordered a side of Beef Taquitos and those were even worse. They tasted burnt, stale, and flavorless. The edges were dark and burnt and the middle was chewy. Just bad all around and I couldn't eat them at all. My husband ordered Cheese Enchiladas which he said were okay, but they mostly tasted spicy instead of flavorful and had too much cheese. I tried them myself and didn't like them. The cheese inside was not melted. They almost gave him Chicken Enchiladas, but the waitress caught the error from the cook and came to double check with my husband first. She said she wanted to make sure he ordered cheese because that's what she wrote down although the cook had made chicken. The beans that came on the side were okay, but the rice was flavorless. We also ordered a Kids Quesadilla and the cheese was not melted. The tortilla tasted like the grill and it was the second to last plate that came out at the very end even though kids meals usually come out first. I heard our waitress asking the cook about the kids quesadilla as if he had forgotten it. My cousin ordered the Supreme Nachos which are supposed to come with sour cream according to the menu, but they didn't. She had to ask and they brought her a side. Our entire party of 8 came here to celebrate my mom and my mom hated her meal. She ordered a Chile Relleno plate and her beans were cold. The cheese on the beans wasn't melted. The cheese inside the Chile Relleno wasn't melted. Everything was flavorless. She said the sauce didn't even taste like an actual sauce. I can't remember the last time I experienced this many issues when dining somewhere. No one enjoyed their food and it definitely wasn't the Mother's Day meal I was hoping for. I felt embarrassed for even finding this place on Yelp in the first place. I had higher expectations based on the pics and reviews, but it was extremely disappointing. I've been craving tortilla soup for quite se time. Today my tax lady/friend and I were talking about places that sell amazing Chicken tortilla soup. After me visit with her, I got on Yelp and found this little gem near by. Word of mouth is big for me. I can't tell you how delicious the tortilla soup is. You definitely have to try it yourself. It is EXTREMELY tasty!! I appreciate how the separate the tortilla strip from the soup. Plus they add avocado, cheese nd bacon bits to the mixture for you to add when you're ready to eat. Been coming to this spot since high school, C/O 2001 . My favorite has been what they're known for, the Chile verde. I personally get it in the nachos and they always give big chunks of pork in that great green salsa they make. Have tried it in burritos as well and its delicious. Not too salty or overly spicy and always have good servings. Had the green chilaquiles recently and they were pretty solid. The beans were a little off that day but usually pretty good. The house salsa was missing some salt but still had some good flavor. Service is usually pretty fast and restaurant is pretty clean. This place is amazing! I found this place through my friends Instagram stories and the nachos caught my eye! They even have soup which was a plus because I'm obsessed with chicken soup in Mexican restaurants. We got seated right away on a Sunday lunch, they have outside patio seating as well. Parking is super easy since they are in a plaza. My boyfriend and I ordered the chicken soup, chicken nachos, and chorizo con huevos. We didn't wait long for our food and everything came out the same time. The chicken soup was pretty good just a bit salty but I like how they added green beans and the chicken was super moist and soft. My boyfriend's chorizo con huevos was alright it was just a bit dry but not bad because it wasn't greasy or oily at all and we prefer that. But the beans was a wow factor here! We both loved the beans it was so good! And flavorful. Lastly the chicken nachos was AMAZING! There was enough amount of cheese melted in ever bite of tortilla chips. They are super generous with the cheese and the chicken. I was kinda hesitant that they said they also topped with Chile verde so I asked for it on the side. But turns out it was freaking delicious and best Chile verde I ever tried! It is not over salty and it paid really well with the nachos. Overall I'm really satisfy with everything here! First of all, I really wanted to love this place since I've been seeing it on social media and craving to try their food for a while. I originally tried to order food last weekend but because I called 10 min before 8pm they told me they couldn't take my order since they close at 8 (understandable). So I finally got to try them today. We ordered the Chile verde nachos, carne asada burrito and carne asada torta. Chile verde nachos: I was so excited to try these out but they felt short of what I expected. When i got home with my order they were super soggy tortilla chips and absolutely no Chile verde salsa left on them. I'm thinking the chips soaked them up.... or maybe the nachos were meant to be that soggy.... I just thought nachos were supposed to be crunchy. Mind you when I put the order they said in 15 min it would be ready and I arrived in 10 min, paid then left home which I only live about 2-3 min drive away. Idk I just assumed they would have had more salsa on them and chips not as soggy. Maybe I needed to ask for everything separately or it should be done in that way. HOWEVER, I do want to mention that the pork was tender and tasted good. Carne Asada Burrito: My issue with this was that it was basically a bean burrito with a little bit of meat and almost no cilantro/onion and no rice. I felt like I was just having a bean burrito. The plus side to this is that it was a decent size. Carne Asada torta: The torta too had a lot of beans to it and not much meat. Unfortunately I didn't get to take a pic of this one. I spent about $30 for all three items and kind of expected a bit more. I really wanted to love this place. Authentic Mexican food right next to a gas station?Hmm,kinda iffy judging it just from the thought of it but I will give this place the benefit of the doubt. So lets start off with one of the items that put this Casa on the radar.The creamy chipotle burrito,moist shredded chicken with spanish rice swaddled in a flour tortilla smothered with a generous portion of chipotle sauce,yep they sure got this down to a tee. Next I tried their flautas or better yet a taquito on a steroid trip.The flauta was light and crispy but for some reason the chicken was a little dry inside and i didn't like the fact that the guacamole and the sour cream both were not homemade and tasted store bought.To finish up things I ordered a small plate of sopes.Once again the beans tasted like they were out of a can and the carne asada on top was just to over seasoned for my taste buds.In the end,I had a couple of misses and one hit.So stick with burritos. The server was really nice and always checked on me,I'll give this place and her that.On the flip side,I don't think it's cool when there is transients around the corner bothering customers and the owners are aware and turn a blind eye to avoid confrontation.
