Placed an order on Uber Eats and boy do I regret it. I've eaten from the Harvey location a couple times and had the quesadillas which they have a bogo deal for on uber. I ordered that same thing a this location plus wings and a side of Mac and cheese for my friend. The quesadillas had almost no filling inside and the fries were not completely cooked I had to put them in the air fryer to finish. They put the smallest scoop of insanely overcooked Mac and cheese in the container and charged us $8 absolute robbery and it did not taste good. The wings just ok and needed seasoning. I truly do wonder how restaurants like this stay open. I would not waste another dime here. read more

I ordered a couple of things to try. First, the lemon pepper catfish and fries were so good. Loved the mild sauce too. Fries were like those at Checkers, for those familiar with them. Plenty of food, even for a big back like me. The loaded baked potato was EVERYTHING. No skimping on the toppings and the potato itself was delicious. No cash isn't fair for the community. Auto tip without warning from the waitress is not genuine. The cheap warehouse omviance is insulting on top of the cheap plastic cups. So far, before the meal, this place feels like a cheapnonwy hungry bar. Well the food was good bar food and we were able to leave when we were done so paying first feels wrong but it worked. The catfish was good. The pieces were meaty and filling. The broccoli and loaded mash potatoes were also good, however, I don't like that type of cheese on my broccoli. On my quest to find something for lunch I came across S2 Express Grill on Uber Eats and everything looked good. I Ordered the Alfredo with Shrimp + S2 Ultra Rolls were Philly Steak. The Shrimp Alfredo was very good it was seasoned very well. I just wish the shrimp tails were not on the shrimp but still good none the less. I have eaten food from all of their locations and am universally satisfied. All of the food is exceptional, but there are a few things that really stand out. 1) Lamb chops!!!!! The absolute BEST you will eat anywhere! Yes that's high praise. All of the side dishes are very well prepared, but I'd highly recommend the grilled asparagus, candied yams, and dirty rice. 2) Ribeye--whether you surf & turf it with king crab or a lobster tail as I do, or just have the steak, this is a truly delectable meal. 3) The breakfast is now a Sunday regular in my household. I strongly suggest the big breakfast options--include the pancakes and grits. 4) Speaking of grits, the Shrimp & Grits is an outstanding dish for breakfast, lunch, brunch or dinner! S2 (both locations) have some of the best food in the city. Lamb chops to lobster tail, asparagus to Mac and cheese. My kids love the loaded fries and I love the surf and turf. Almost like fine dining in a fast food setting. Their operations hours are up and down and seem inconsistent at times when ordering late. But it's worth the hassle. This was my first time visiting S2 Grill. We had Starr as our waitress. She was so accomodating and made great suggestions. She communicated effectively and exhibited a friendly and professional demeanor even though my group were tough cookies. She was absolutely wonderful! The food was delicious, and nothing short of fantastic. OMG, the mac and cheese melted in my mouth and it was to die for! My rib tips were flavorful and tender. Everyone at my table talked about how great the food was. As far as the restaurant's environment, presentation it was very inviting and the decor was eye catching. I felt like the establishment cares about the presentation of their business. The bathrooms were clean and cared for. They even added an extra touch in cleanliness. I was very impressed! I am giving S2 Express Grill (8734 S Stony Island) one star because you can't give a 0 star. My family decided to try neighborhood restaurant since we had to go to work the next day. The waitress seated us and took drink orders, we asked for a kiddie cocktail for my grandson she advised we couldn't get that (7-Up & Grenedine with fruit). She asked if she could check out another couple and come back, we told her yes however she NEVER came back. Finally another waitress came and took our order and my grandson ordered pizza. After waiting over 30 minutes our food was brought by the bus boy and we were told that the pizza was coming soon. The waitress came back a few minutes later and said they didn't have any pizza. By the way, my daughter went to the bar to get the drinks. I asked for the manager and it was the original waitress that NEVER came back. We explained the level of service we received thus far starting with her and she stood there with a smile. This girl had no remorse. All she could say was "the kitchen was struggling". Maybe my expectations were set too high prior to coming here but I didn't enjoy the food here. The lobster tail was tasteless although I ordered it jerked. In addition to no flavor I felt like the lobster tails should've been cheaper because it was extremely small. The shrimp & grits had some huge shrimp in them however the grits had a soup like consistency & this too was virtually tasteless. The philly rolls weren't bad per se however they couldn't stand up to other cheesesteaks in the city. Twas served with ranch also but it didn't make them anymore enjoyable. Do you enjoy horrible customer service? Wasting your time for food that isn't coming? A no refund policy? Then S2 Express Grill on Halstead is the place for you! We ordered 3 things- a turkey burger, and two orders of chicken and shrimp alfredo. We wait 15 minutes...then 30 minutes...then 45 minutes. We start to notice the people that came in after us got their food before us. Then a lady who called her order in was visibly upset since she was waiting an hour for her food. She asks for a refund. The cashier said they can't give out refunds. They expected her to order something else, and spend all afternoon waiting around for it like an idiot. She was so frustrated, she just left! No food, no refund, no nothing. Fast forward one hour, an entire hour of waiting for one turkey burger, and two orders of chicken and shrimp alfredo. Are they de-plucking the chicken? Kneading the dough for bread? Making the noodles from scratch? No. They ran out of alfredo sauce. Over an hour ago. You can't make chicken and shrimp alfredo without alfredo sauce. Did anyone tell us? No. We found out when we asked on the status of our food. One. Hour. Later. The communication from the kitchen to the cashiers to the customers is non-existent. Do they offer to make it up to us? Do they offer to give us our money back at least? No. They say we can order something else without alfredo sauce in it and give us a cold turkey burger. They repeat their no refund policy. We weren't having it. We made them call their Supervisor to authorize a refund so that at least we were just hungry instead of hungry and livid. Ordered S2 for lunch. I've had the food from other locations and loved it every time. But, this location is absolutely terrible. I ordered the chicken Alfredo with jerk. And the Philly rolls. Let's start off with the Alfredo -I ordered as soon as they opened. Yet, the chicken in the Alfredo was so dry. Which is crazy because the pasta was literally swimming in sauce. I picked up the tray out of the bag and the sauce literally was pouring from it. It was all over the inside of the bag. I've never seen their Alfredo sauce so soupy. It was literally the consistency of soup with some noodles thrown in. I literally had to scoop out the noodles into another dish . They also put the bread on top so by the time I got home and opened the tray my bread was extremely soggy. There was no real flavor besides some sort of spice. Idk what it was but it was not jerk. - The Philly roll was also very disappointing. For it to be a Philly cheese steak roll there was NO CHEESE INSIDE THE ROLL. Just meat and a scarce amount of bell peppers. Then they sprinkled not even a pinch of Parmesan cheese on top. The roll wasn't crispy at all and it came with no type of sauce. The meat was also very dry. Definitely a sad excuse for a Philly roll. Overall my food was absolutely terrible. And it's unfortunate because I've been going to S2 for a while(just not this location). So I've eaten here a few times and for the most part I'm happy with my food. I've had the loaded chicken fries and LOVED them! I've had the chicken wrap and that is also very tasty. Today I ordered breakfast food, French toast and grits. The breakfast items are A la Cart. I didn't like the grits.... at all. The flavor was there but they were under cooked and gritty. I love grits so I was very disappointed. The restaurant has in door seating but the area is small so I prefer to take my food to go. It's also located in a small strip mall but the parking lot gets packed fast. FYI- they do take call in and online orders but for some reason today they would only take my order if I came to the restaurant and placed the order. Not to big of a deal but even when calling in your order the wait can be pretty long so I prefer to give them a head start on my order before coming to the restaurant.
