Today was my 3rd time coming, since the 90's. The 1st two times was great but today being the 3rd, not so much. We had breakfast and our Waitress was named Barbara. While eating breakfast we noticed some people were getting dinner, so we decided to order dinner then, since we had a lot of running around to do. I ordered the fried chicken with mac & cheese, yams, & dressing. My wife ordered fried chicken, mac & cheese, greens, and dressing. My daughter had the baked chicken, dressing, greens, & mac and cheese. My daughter's dinner was the only one made correct, mine had mashed potatoes, instead of yams and no dressing. My wife's dinner had no dressing. Everthing is on my reciept tho. I tried calling, but it was after 5pm when I saw my dinner. I'll call again tomorrow

This place is a wonderful, clean, old-fashioned diner -- perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! The staff is friendly, the service is prompt, and the food never disappoints. I especially love their self-described "DALEY'S FAMOUS PATTY MELT" -- a juicy half-pound beef patty tucked between grilled rye, melted American cheese, and grilled onions. It's served with crispy French fries, creamy homemade coleslaw, and a crisp kosher pickle. Comfort food done right!

This was my first time here and I had the lovely Mrs. Barbara as a waitress! She was so patient, kind and professional. I can tell that she is a true asset here and has been serving in this community gracefully! I appreciated her service! The food was good! I had a veggie omelette and added bacon. I truly love how classic and elegant the black decor and seating is. This is more than a diner it presents as an upscale environment. So glad i stopped in!

WOW WOW WOW!!!!! Daley's has been added to my "Must have from now on, anytime I come to Chicago! " list. The service was impeccable, our whole group really appreciated Ms.Lynn. She was fast, friendly, and gave expert service. We were a group of 5 and most of us had not been here before. Meaning we were unfamiliar with the menu. Ms. Lynn helped us make our selections. She was so patient with us. I wanted to change my order after I heard what everyone else ordered. The options were unlimited!!!!!! I was so excited. I loved the hot syrup option. The food came out and we devoured it. I made sure to save some to take home with me. I am in Chicago visiting family and can't wait to come back, I could eat here everyday!!!! Very family style service I love to feel welcomed and here we really did. Such a great experience. The playlist was dope too! Anita baker and James Ingram!

My mom, niece and myself came here after a funeral on a Friday afternoon. Lots of street parking. Our waitress, Karen was so sweet. My grits were very bland, so I wouldn't get them again, but my salmon patties, biscuits and egg whites were delicious.

Slap yo mama delicious home made cooking that brings you back to your childhood memories of cooking done right. This was next chef level cooking done right. We were a party of four and we had an array of things to eat and everything was amazing. The portions were Fred Flintstone size. Just remarkable food from the liver and onions, fried catfish, salmon patties, collard greens and candy yams. The star of the show was the chicken noodle soup is. It was creamy with big chunks of chicken and the flavor was off the chain. I would go back for the soup alone. Our wait staff was on top of our every need and she was friendly. The restaurant is huge and it has some historic history because it's a place that the politicians frequent. Definitely will be back!

One of my good friends treat me here for a belated birthday brunch. Located on the Southside of Chicago. We were lucky to quickly be seated at a table. The server came over to our table with a pitcher of water. Filled our glasses up with some cold iced water and was ready to take our order. Now this is what I call fast service. I heard this place started off as a small diner across the street. It has now grown and has a spacious dining area. I ordered the spicy Denver Skillet, diced hot links and ham with green peppers, which came with oninons and topped with pepperjack cheese. It had just enough kick of spice to it. Very tasty and well-seasoned with 2 slices of toast. My friend ordered their famous Southside Skillet, homemade turkey sausage, green peppers, onions topped with cheddar cheese and a biscuit. The food, experience, ambience, prices of the food, and great customer service. Will always keep customers coming back for more.

This table I will never ever sit here again, the server knocked on it every time he came past with me sitting and eating so annoying I left!

The food was tasty, vegetable omelet and salmon Crockett. Server knocked coming to serve every table while I was eating. I had to inquire why, he said "It's a habit." He apologized but now I'm agitated and ready to go! The busser-she threw dishes in its dirty area-I promise I jumped every time. Very annoying atmosphere!

Me Enjoying being back home. With so good food. I miss CHICAGO FOOD SO MUCH

Music is pretty loud in this small space. We decided on the 3 entrees for 69.00 with a glass of wine. We chose the pepper steak, smothered chicken, orange chicken, catfish and spaghetti, and the bbq catfish. Overall the food was ok., The bbq fish was a little to fishy and the smothered chicken was heavily salted. The star of our 6 dishes was the fried piece of catfish. The food came out quickly but nothing was piping hot. The server was OK as well, he did exactly what we expect of a server nothing more nothing less. I will say next time I would take the drive to the West side location, to me the food choices are better as well as the service.

A friend recently sent a post to me from Instagram of a man who came to King's Soul Food Gallery…read moreand got hooked on the pancakes. That post piqued my interest and my appetite. That, of course, meant I had to see if the hype was real. THE HYPE IS REAL. I went early for breakfast. I ordered biscuits with sausage gravy, eggs scrambled with cheddar, and potatoes. On the side, I ordered two pancakes. Everything is cooked to order, which is always plus because you aren't getting something reheated or microwaved. The quality of the food is also an indicator because you can tell by texture and temperature throughout what is on the plate. The cook came to the table to get confirmation of how I wanted my food plated. I gathered that some people are picky about their food touching, so he wanted to know if I was okay that the gravy may touch my eggs and potatoes. Servers, cooks, and chefs usually never confer with diners to inquire about peeves like food touching, so it was a bonus as service goes. On to the pancakes, you really don't need syrup. The pancakes are butter and lightly sweetened. For anyone who has had Johnny cakes, the pancakes are reminiscent of those but without cornmeal. The other thing about the pancakes was that they held heat instead of getting cold immediately. Some people may rattle off how some other place or how their own pancakes are the best in the world. Be that as it may, the pancakes that I had at King's Soul Food Gallery were the best that "I" have had. I will have to make my way back to sample their lunch. There is some fried catfish, collard greens, and sweet potatoes that I want to try. THE HYPE IS REAL.

Menu is written on a whiteboard which allows them to just erase the item when it sells out. But, a digital display would elevate the ambiance and lend a more polished feel. Details matter, especially when you're asking customers to pay premium prices. Customer service was really rocky to start, but the gentleman with the locs saw my face, heard my comment, and quickly adjusted. Much appreciated. Keep that same energy for ALL your customers. What we ate: Delicious: peach cobbler (fantastic!) Decent: short ribs, Mac n cheese, green beans, cornbread muffin Don't bother: collards, salmon One major gripe: at this price point, being served in takeout containers with plastic cutlery cheapens the experience. Invest in real plates and silverware -- your margins can surely support the upgrade. If you are going to automatically grat a dine-in check, then your patrons should sit at clean tables and be greeted by a smiling face. Neither of these were part of my experience. But I also didn't see the gratuity on my check. So, there's that. Clean tables and a warm greeting are basic expectations -- not bonuses -- especially if an automatic gratuity is being added to dine-in checks. (Although curiously, I didn't see this reflected on mine.) As for the $1 price tag on a small 16 oz bottle of water -- yes, you're making a solid markup. But why not reinvest a few cents more in a larger, sport-cap option? Small touches like that make a big difference in perceived value. The space was nearly empty during my visit, but I can imagine it picks up post-Sunday service. Still, the lack of energy in the room matched the food: fine, but not worth rushing back for. Nothing Would I return? Maybe. But I'm not in a hurry.

We were seated at a high table with extremely low chairs, and when we asked if anyone had ever complained about them, our waitress gave us a "death stare" that immediately made us feel like she was annoyed. Things only got worse from there. We waited over an hour just for an order of fried green tomatoes and then another 45 minutes with still no entrées. Meanwhile, tables that arrived after us were being served their food. They even served my daughter a bottled sodas with no ice. When we finally spoke to the manager, there was no empathy, and no effort to make things right. Instead, we were told the other guests had arrived before us, which wasn't true. To make matters worse, we were still charged for our drinks and appetizer after sitting there for nearly two hours and never receiving our meals. As someone who works in complaint management, I am truly appalled by the lack of accountability and ownership that was shown. Mistakes happen, but how you respond to those mistakes speaks volumes about your organization. A "sincere"apology, empathy, and a willingness to make things right can go a long way. Unfortunately, none of that was demonstrated, which made an already disappointing experience even worse. It's not always the issue itself that leaves a lasting impression, it's how people choose to handle it. As someone who believes in supporting Black-owned businesses, this experience was extremely disappointing. I can't say I would recommend this establishment based on the lack of service, accountability, and basic customer care we experienced.
