Linda's store has an endless selection of fabrics so it could have been an overwhelming experience. It was not! I purchased the fabric with lining as well as the hardware. We had her staff install the finished product and we are so pleased with the result. Her prices are competitive and because she's a small neighborhood store, I felt very well taken care of. If you need window treatments, decorative pillows or anything at all to do with fabric, this is the store for you.

I was making pants for the first time and they were different colors, so the materials had to work well together as far as weight and appearance. This is a family-owned, Black-owned, women-owned, small business in the Bronx and they don't stop at just offering fabric, trimmings and tailoring. They also host sewing camps for kids and adults. They have various types of machines thta you cna come in to try out and see what might work for you. The prices of their fabrics are reasonable. I did purchase some shears that I was able to find for less money elsewhere, and I was able to return them in exchange for store credit. This policy did not bother me because I plan to return for more fabric, as our cosplay is quickly becoming an annual tradition, but be advised that you will get store credit in lieu of a full refund. Owners, Clarissa and Nadine, are very knowledgeable and a wealth of tips and suggestions. If you're just starting our, they are perfect to answer any questions you may have. I'm fairly new and went in not know what I could do. I basically just explained my dilemma and was directed to the best fabric for what I wanted to construct. It was the first time I ever made pants, two-toned no less, and they came out amazing. When I visited, I had my kiddo with me and she was gifted with some scrap fabric and an elastic band, and a quick tutorial to construct a simple scrunchie. She was super ecstatic and I hope she takes to sewing as I have. I will definitely be regularly visiting for my cosplay construction needs.

I stumbled upon this shop after doing a little research looking for local yarn shops after moving to the Hudson Valley. I didn't know what to expect, because I've been to some small yarn shops that were not all that friendly or inviting. The shop is conveniently located right on Main Street, Beacon. It's a great area to talk a walk around, especially on the weekends (Farmer's and Flea Markets on Sundays!). Parking is ample, even on weekends. I've always been greeted warmly at Beetle and Fred. The staff is always so friendly and offer great advice and recommendations. I never really did much sewing before visiting, but the shop offers an amazing selection of top quality fabrics at fantastic price points. Can you get cheaper fabrics and yarn, etc? Sure, go to any giant chain retailer. But will it be of the same quality and design? With phenomenal service to back it up? Absolutely not. They also offer some noteworthy local classes and workshops - be sure to check their website for a schedule of upcoming events! Beetle and Fred is always a stop when I'm in the area - even if I walk out of there with nothing, it's always a pleasant visit. Whether you're interested in learning a new hobby, or a seasoned veteran, I would give them a 5/5. I would definitely recommend to both beginner and experienced fiber crafters alike.

There are also a small amount of embroidery tools of thread and including small 4 inch wooden circular embroidery hoop. Oh! In my youth I embroidery as a amateur craft which was a very laborious task, ergo I abandon the craft. I have the large 14 inch circular wooden embroidery hoop from the former F. W. Woolworth Company. There is a small selection of ribbon velvet, grosgrain, organza but I was seeking double-sided satin ribbon of .25 inch. There is a small selection of buttons.
