I want to thank Jimmy Quinn salesman for all that he did for us. My husband and myself have health issues and our less than 1 year old GE a/c stopped working without warning. Jimmy got us an in home repairman to evaluate the a/c within 2 days. When the repairman arrived he was very professional and knowledgeable about the a/c and deemed it not fixable but advised that he would notify the main office we to arrange for a replacement. The main office contacted us and said there would be "no replacement from GE warehouse until after July 2, That was unacceptable as no guarantee when it would actually be available. Not to mention the predicted heat wave this week! Jimmy said they had " 58 "identical to the one we bought less than a year ago a/c's in Appliance sale plus'own warehouse!" Jimmy encouraged us to advise GE of their availabilty. After many phone calls to GE we were finally given permission to buy one from Appliance Sales Plus and GE are reimbursing us the full cost and installation costs! We are happy that GE did the right thing but we couldn't have done this without Jimmy's help. Jimmy went the extra mile for us...he understood that it was not just a comfort issue but a health issue! Appliance Plus in Somers, NY vacillates between reviews that compliment their customer service and the quality of the goods that are sold by this business. There are as many reviews that demonstrate a winning lottery ticket and those that tell a customers tale of barely serviving recovery from a devastating case of food poisoning. On the negative side, it is not infrequent to experience the elements of a Stephen King novel. On an unlucky day, a customer is forced to spend numerous hours and sometimes days in order to FINALLY get a WORKING appliance while dealing with an employee who has failed any and all rules of etiquette. I have experienced my own trauma with this business as recently as 2020. I was not ashamed to write a scathing review. I swore I would never donate my savings ever again to this company. Well, when my oven exploded with burning elements this week, I shopped local and held my breath as I called and spoke to Karl. I had my information from my trusty NYT Wirecutter website. The delivery was promised for the next day but was negated by the deliverymen who said I did not have the correct plug to make the approprite connection (wall and stove) Bye, Bye, oven for two more days until a VERY competent electrition J.Combs made his way to my door. One more day and Jimmy found me a first stop delivery the following morning. So, I am here with my thank you to Karl and Jimmy for a job well done! My oven (an APlus purchase in 2008) owed me nothing, It had survived many successful, challenging and delicious events. I didnt save any money. There are not any real bargains at APlus and looking around for a deal with a one week turn around based on immediate delivery stares you right in the eyes. With a dead stove, you go with the flow and say THANK YOU APPLIANCE PLUS!! I won the lottery ticket and pass my good fortune along to those (including myself) who have and continue to have the need to purchase any item from this establishment, May the force be with you!! read more

On 9/6/2023, I purchased a BeautyRest Mattress from Karl. A little background history on myself, I am the daughter of a loyal customer to Karl. Over the last 31 years, I have seen roughly 10 appliances (kitchen, laundry, and beds) come in and out of my family home. We have never had an issue with Appliance Sales Plus. The deliveries are always timely and his workers always remain professional. Now as an adult, it is wonderful to be treated in such a way that my father had always complimented Karl and his business on. I have had my current BeautyRest mattress from this store since 2014, and I couldn't say anything bad about it. Although I wish I could purchase the same one in a Queen, there are clearly newer "models" out. Karl had a wide variety that I was able to test and lay. I highly recommend! I have to be honest, as I am getting ready to move into my own place, I have been shopping around for the "best price" at all these competitive stores. However, I, like my father have come back to Appliance Sales Plus. As I scroll to read other reviews made on Yelp, it upsets me to see what Judith M wrote. I was present during the conversation and witnessed the entire thing. During this time Karl remained calm and levelheaded. I have purchased a refrigerator and a stove here. And neither one worked correctly from the day they were installed. I contacted appliance sales plus regarding the stove. And they sent over a repair man out of Connecticut who was rude obnoxious, And fixed nothing. Long story short, both the refrigerator and the stove. Were replaced again within 2 weeks as they did not work. And I did not use appliance sales plus to replace them. Appliance sales plus refused to even help us. I am an executive chef and I was told I was using my stove incorrectly and my refrigerator incorrectly. I do not recommend will and will never, ever purchase here again. We bought a refrigerator and dishwasher and had it on hold until the contractor remodeling our kitchen was ready to install it. Called a week before we were to get it delivered and set up an appointment for an am delivery. On the day of delivery at 11 am called to see when they would be delivered. Karl said he would call me back and when he did explained to me they screwed up and could not deliver it until Thursday afternoon. A day off wasted waiting for the delivery.of course I was upset and Karl's responses were " I'm too old to deal with this and do you want the appliances or not". This is how the owner treats customers. I Was a retail store manager for 40 years and this is the worst customer service I have ever been associated with, by the owner. Steve helped me choose the best products for my home and set me up with fast delivery/removal. Karl was a huge help to the installers who had to cut into my wall for the units. BEWARE If I could l would give this company a 0. We bought a washer and dryer 3rd time we brought these from Appliance Plus. They delivered the products and they didn't have the correct line to the electric. Humm last time they did!! The delivery guys said they would go back to the store and see if they have one. They called twice and told us no electric cord. They gave us the name of Combs electric. He tried hard to get the line and in 2 days later it was delivered and installed. $350.00. No one from Appliance Plus ever called back to see if the dryer was working. The vent on the dryer was not the same as last time and would not fit. We had to do a mini renovation, Karl said "well you should have called me. Your mistake." No one from Appliance Sales plus EVER called us to see if the machines were working. The conversation went "I am the owner and you are the customer. I am correct and you are wrong." I said, "But isn't the customer always right?" Karl, "NO the customer is never right." Big mistake...go anywhere else. I had been purchasing appliances here due to their proximity to a few rental units I own. Their prices have always been more than everywhere else but I figured that if I needed service, it would pay off. Was I ever wrong. Paying a bit more for good service is certainly worth the expense. Unfortunately, you will pay more here for the appliances and get the worst possible service experience of your life. To start with, the service manager, Renee, is belligerent and incompetent. Not a very nice combination. She had attitude from the very start, and takes the position that she is doing you some kind of favor in getting a service tech to your home. But, as bad as the above is, it gets worse. The tech that comes....when ever he comes...because no one will give you a straight answer on that question, doesn't know what he is doing. Specifically, a dryer less than 2 months old stops working. I call them for service, they give me the runaround on an appointment and finally get someone to my home 3 days later.....6 hours past the time they were supposed to be here. Gets better....the tech..after 10 minutes makes his diagnosis of "bad switch", part is not in the truck, and leaves. Does someone call to follow up?...maybe with a return date? Not a chance. I call them only to find out the part is ordered and will be there in a day or so. OK...wait a few days...no call. I call again only to find out that they don't know when the part is coming in?! Long story short...they never once called me. I made every single call to them to hear different stories of why the part was or was not in. Finally, two weeks later, and nearly 3 weeks without a dryer, I order the part direct from Whirlpool, it comes in a day. I install the part (I am an electrical engineer), turns out the switch diagnosed as faulty by the tech was not the issue. Dryer is still not working...3 weeks without a dryer with 4 children, in winter with no possibility of drying outside is cruel and unusual punishment. OK...so we waited two weeks for nothing due to the technicians error. Now comes the apology, and the fast service call etc.... Right?...Guess again, more run-around. We were added to the end of the service schedule and given an ambiguous "he will be there in the afternoon". Well he never showed up. There is no compelling reason for anyone to use this company for appliances or heaven help you, for service. If you value your time at all, you will pay a small fortune for the privilege of bad customer/tech service. In a nutshell....save your money, your time, and your sanity... GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE. read more

I am so touched at the unbelievable service that I received from Karl ( one of the owners yesterday). I called with a service question pertaining to my dishwasher. Please note I was never asked by him if I purchased it from them, nor did I know the answer because I recently purchased my condo. Karl not only spent his valuable time with me on the phone trying to resolve the issue, he made a house call to my home and preceded to fix the problem. Karl did not charge me, refused to take any money, and was very happy that he resolved the dishwasher issue. This is truly above and beyond customer service. Go elsewhere! They sell electrical appliances and don't have knowledge of basic electricity. They sold me an A/C unit that required a 20 amp plug. So they told their installer to change the receptacle without checking the circuit breaker box. Good thing I stopped them for the wires inside my walls were for 15 amps. Could have been a bad situation if they followed through. They never followed up with me to exchange the A/C unit. I had to hire an electrician to run a new wire to my circuit breaker box, costing me more money. read more

We found them to be exceptionally courteous and helpful; prompt and on-time appliance deliveries; matched the lowest prices we could find on the internet for an electric range, dishwasher, air conditioner unit, and refrigerator. They were very helpful and cooperative in sending a replacement refrigerator even though there was an error due to my bad measurements. Their people are not nice, they are snobs, they don't provide service, they don't care. Not polite when you enter their store. NO help whatsoever. Guess they became to big and no longer have any desire to actually do their jobs, provide service and be nice to people. All people of Somers and surrounding areas buy local, that includes Appliance Plus. No longer. I no longer will go there or buy anything from them. I prefer service. I prefer appreciation. I have lived in the area for 16 years and have bought many of my appliances at Appliance Sales Plus in Somers. Up until now, I always thought buying my appliances there, as opposed to Sears or other big box stores, even though I paid a premium price, was the right choice because I would be supporting local business, get a good selection of appliances, receive quality service, and they would stand by their products in the event I had an issue. But my recent encounter overshadowed all of that and the standing by their products didn't hold true. I purchased a Ensemble Duet washer and dryer made by Whirlpool approximately 6 years ago. I was happy with this purchase until the washer died. I was expecting the lifespan of a washer and dryer would be 8-10 years but even the service person said they don't make them as good as they used to. I purchased another washing machine from Appliance Sales Plus. So far no issue. A short time after that, my dryer stopped working. The service people came out and said that the computer had died and needed to be replaced - so for $320 I replaced the mother board with the expectation that if I was replacing the brain, the new computer should give me at least another 3+ years. 6 months later the dryer stopped working, Appliance Sales Plus came out again and once again the computer needed to be replaced. I paid $320 and got 6 months. The serviceman said he would call Maytag and get back to me. Turns out Maytag only gives a 90 day warranty on this part so therefore Appliance Sales Plus will only give me a 90 day warranty on the part. I had lengthy conversations with Carl, the owner, sharing my frustration about having paid a lot of money for a part that only lasted 6 months and that clearly this part was faulty and I should have been able to expect a longer lifespan then that. While he made lots of excuses ("You could have had a power surge that blew the board, although that would have happened right away") he agreed, yet still was unwilling to do anything for me. When I argued that I was a very good customer and he should do right by me, that's why I came there in the first place, he asked what I thought he should do. I first suggested he pay for another computer and when he quickly refused, I compromised and suggested meeting me 1/2 way, paying $150 plus the installation. We then spent the rest of a fruitless conversation with him spouting about how he only makes $50 on the part and the only thing he would be willing to do is install it for free. I was shocked that for $150, he was willing to let me walk away with a bad taste in my mouth over his company and cared little for the fact that I would never step foot in his store again. Last night I purchased a new dryer at Best Buy. Consumer Reports rated them as one of the best places to buy appliances. While I spent $720 on a new Whirlpool dryer (2 x what it would have cost for the computer) I got a new machine. I also purchased for $109 a 5 year warranty for parts, labor, etc., and if they have to come out 3 times to fix it, they'll give me a gift card for the same price of the machine to buy a new one). Now that's what I call standing by your products. Appliance Sales Plus, shame on you for the way you handled this. Take note: there's plenty of options out there. Lots of company's that are willing to provide good prices, a good selection and stand by their products when issues arise. Learn from the big boys. otherwise you won't be in business too much longer. So if you're shopping for appliances, do your homework - and stay away from Appliance Sales Plus. read more

Just made my first purchase at this store and everything went as smoothly as I could have hoped for. I was looking for a new refrigerator, oven and microwave since I just moved and I was on a tight budget. The salesperson greeted me with a smile as soon as I entered the store and gave me space to breathe. He didn't attack me like in those big box stores so that put me at ease. I walked around and only saw a few things in my price range and he assured me that the appliances on the sales floor were just the tip of the iceberg in what they offered. The store was quite busy but he took his time and was there to answer all my questions. I wanted to look around a little more so he excused himself and helped another customer but came right back. I wound up buying 2 of the 3 items they showed on the sales floor and the third I guess from their website since he printed up a picture for me. The salesman asked me all about the dimensions of my room to make sure everything would fit properly and if I used gas or electric for my oven which is something I never thought of. All in all, everything was perfect, the prices (which I checked online while walking around), the professionalism and knowledge of the merchandise. They had a $50 delivery fee which wasn't bad and they even take your old stuff away. The delivery guys were cool and one guy was so funny. They unpacked everything and cleaned up really well. They delivered it and in the process of hooking it up, the company from my old stove called to say they would ship the parts I needed for free {they would have cost over $500}. I called Appliance Sales plus and told them what happened and they said no problem. They would come pick up the stove and refund all of my money!!! I was so grateful. read more

I can't begin to tell you how disappointed I am with Appliance Sales Plus! We remodeled our entire kitchen and heard that this was the place to go. We ordered a refrigerator, stove, dish washer, washer and dryer and stove vent. When the first part of the order was to be delivered (refrigerator, dishwasher and stove), the drivers came to our house and wouldn't deliver them because there was too much snow, the second time they wouldn't deliver them...too much mud. This is what they get paid for!! My contractors took pity on us and move them from the garage into the house themselves and installed them. Then we were told for close to three months that the washer and dryer were back-ordered and we would have to wait. After about three months, I called and they told me that I had called them and cancelled the washer and dryer...wouldn't I have remembered had I cancelled them??? About a week later I got another call that the washer and dryer that I had originally ordered had been discontinued but new models were here and they would deliver them the next week (he had no idea who called me and told me I had cancelled the order). After I spoke to my wife to arrange for a good date for delivery, I called the store only to be told that they had to locate my order and because they had so many customers in the store, they would call me right back. Needless to say they never called that day, the day after, nor the day after that...they just never returned my call. Well finally I called them up and said to cancel the order completely (this time I DID call and cancel). The icing on the cake is that when they had delivered the stove vent, they brought the wrong filters so when my wife went to get the correct ones and to get a credit for the money we put down on the washer and dryer, they accepted the old ones back and said they would gladly "google" the right ones and order them for her. My wife said she could google quite well thank you and left. During the process, we got arguments with rude delivery men who wouldn't deliver the initial appliances (both times) as well as the obnoxious gentleman that told me I had canceled the order when I called back after three months. I will never go back to that store again and would strongly advise anyone against buying any appliances there. read more

Purchases over $10,000 worth of kitchen appliances. 2 delivery guys came, could not figure out how to get my refrigerator up the stairs, and when they did they put a hole in my newly painted wall and scratched up the refrigerator doors which took weeks to get replaced. Same two guys came back ( with a rude and unprofessional attitude) to replace doors and completely had no idea what they were doing. So they just packed up there tools and left without even telling me. I looked out my driveway and they were pulling out without even fixing my product. My husband figuredout how to fix it when he got home from work. Called the store several times and to this day still never heard from the owner Karl or his wife ( who assured me they would take care of this situation) again. Very poor business!!!!! Last week I visited Appliance Sales Plus in Somers. The purpose of my visit was to shop for a suite of kitchen appliances. I purchased appliances here before as well as a TV and mattress and was completely satisfied with my past purchases. Both Scott and Karl assisted me with recommendations and features. After an hour, I decided on four Maytag appliances and a pair of GE laundry appliances. I requested an early morning delivery to accommodate my work schedule. On delivery day, the team arrived BEFORE my 9:00 am appointment. I was thrilled since I have been conditioned to wait, impatiently, for deliveries or service. The guys were personable, courteous, knowledgeable, efficient, professional and CAREFUL. They worked cohesively as a team, removed the old appliances, prepped for the new merchandise, installed each, tested each and put everything back as was found. In short, six appliances were perfectly installed in approximately one an one-half hours. I had a visitor at noon and he couldn't believe the amazing transformation that took place in a few short hours. This kind of service is hard to find and is truly priceless. I am one upset and dissatisfied customer of appliance plus in Somers on Lovell st! For the past 15 years I have bought my appliances there. Two washers, one dryer, two dishwashers and today I was supposed to receive a stove. The driver refused to drop off my new stove due to the fact that the old one was not disconnected. He literally closed the trucks door as I was speaking to him. I asked him to wait a second while I called the store. He rudely told me that there was NO holding on he was leaving! He took off!!! I immediately called the store and explain to them what happened. You can explain that the breaker was off for the stove etc. etc. the manager at the store did not care that his employees were rude to customers. I explained that I have bought many different appliances from him to keep the business local. He was just as rude as his employees. I can't believe the amount of rudeness and disrespect. This is the last time that I ever go to appliance plus again!! I just received A phone call stating that the manager did not care for what I wrote on Facebook. He also stated that I gave the driver finger which is completely and totally untrue. I did however, make a phone gesture with my fingers thumb and pinky to alert him that I was calling the manager. How you get a finger out of that I'm not sure. Very surprised that he had the nerve to call and say he was not happy with my writing. So unprofessional. I guess if you're not happy you should just be able to do your job the right way, and satisfy your customers. Again, I can't stress enough the unprofessionalism of some people.
