Totally avoid this company . My son dropped off his rider mower there because it wouldn't start. He called them a few days later and they said the engine was toast and it would cost $1500 to replace it!! They recommended scrapping it and they would be happy to scrap it for him for a $100 fee. My son slept on it and today went there with a rented pickup to get the mower back. The workers met him outside and said we thought you wanted us to junk it for you. When my son said no, they ran back into the shop and a manager came out. The manager then quickly said my mechanic worked on it last night and it's almost working now. It'll cost about 600. And it will be good as new. Kind of contradictory to what the staff said when he first got there. From junking to rebuilding it. My son then OK drove down a block and turned around because it just didn't sit right with him, how they changed their mind from junk to gold and told them that he wanted it back. They then gave him a bill for $300 for work he never authorized ( remember the staff told him to junk it) and he saw that a new battery was listed on the bill. He lifted up the seat and saw that it was the same old battery he had on it. Make a long story short this shop reeks of deception I wouldn't spend a dime there. I recommended that he called the Better Business Bureau and that's what he's going to do. To go from we recommend junking it, for a $100 fee, to "oh no don't take it, we can fix it " when he canceled the junk it order and came to pick it up, then billing him for a new battery that they never installed, we'll you don't need to be a detective to see something isn't on the level. I needed a new belt for my lawn tractor and stopped in to support the local brick and mortar. The man behind the counter seemed annoyed when I didn't know the belt size I needed... EVEN THOUGH I HAD THE OLD BELT IN HAND. After begrudgingly getting another worker to help me compare belts we found the belt I needed, they wanted $90!!! Tried telling me it was for a commercial machine, my craftsman lawn tractor that a putt around my yard once a week takes a commercial belt my ass. I told them I can find it on Amazon for $40 (which I did before I came there) they didn't care. I went home and bought it off Amazon for even cheaper $19. I broke my riding mower again. The blades and rotors got mangled when I ran over a tree stump. I called Mahopac Mower and it was repaired like new in two days including pick-up and delivery. Picked up a ride on tractor for me. I told them what the problem was and also wanted a general service. They told me the initial charge and stated they would call to give me a cost balance. Never called. I called multiple times and would constantly get a machine. Finally got someone on the phone who told me it was finished and the cost was way more than what it should have been. Then they took days to deliver it, after numerous complaints that I needed it back because we are having a big party. Supposedly dropping it off today, 2 weeks after initial pick up. The big mower, and the little back-up mower both conked out on me at once. I had two broken mowers and a vast expanse of waist-high grass, and let's be honest, weeds. The Mahopac Mower guys fixed both mowers quickly and for much less money than I had expected/feared. I've trusted Mahopac Mower Mart to fix my lawn equipment for at least ten years. Today, I had a problem with the line emptying out way too quickly on my weed-trimmer. They showed me I needed a spring, found one in a spare parts drawer, and then showed me how to wind the line onto the device easily. And he did it for no charge. That's the kind of business they are.
