In short the work crew broke an exterior glass door pane to a sliding glass door. Accidents happen, poor communication and lack of follow up shouldn't. Home Genius blamed the sub and vice versa. Eventually the glass was replaced by the sub contractors father (yes seriously). After replacement it was foggy and dirty inside. After six calls to customer care we received a call back from Raleigh manager who of course blamed the sub and "would look into it". We got into contact via text only with our job lead as he has no voice mail. It was determined new glass would be placed back in upon our return from vacation out of state. To our surprise our home camera systems picks up somebody going into our backyard with a ladder and presumably working on the glass with no appointment, no permission and no contact with home genius. A text to the job lead to confirm was left unanswered. Likewise when the Raleigh office manager was asked for information regarding an appeal process, he asked if we would drop our 2 star google review first instead of simply meeting our request and providing info for am appeal. He still has not responded with info requested or followed up in any manner to see if our damaged property was replaced etc. The second glass replaced while we were not home but an unknown party is worse then the first replacement glass job and here we sit with zero assistance or communication from Home Genius. Customer Care reps have all been nice and courteous all 7 times we have called them. Just don't take the risk with other options available.

I'd done a lot of research into replacement windows -- what to ask when interviewing companies, what a quality installation looks like, which windows are the best quality. I'd been saving up for eight years for this because I wanted quality -- and it isn't always the name brands you know that are the best. I chose this company for these reasons: 1) Reputation. The company has been around since 1961 so they aren't going anywhere. 2) I researched the brand and type of window they install to verify quality and these were recommended by more than one person. 3) I asked about the install itself -- who measures, to what detail do they measure, type of caulk, how they insulate. And they never once treated me like "the clueless little woman." The rep respected that I did this due diligence and even gave me MORE information about their installation process, which I double checked, and yes, it is above and beyond. 4) The payment plan was simply unbeatable. 5) They gave me a DETAILED quote AND personal references. Other companies I spoke with did not. Communication was impeccable. It was a wait of a few months, but they kept in touch. Installation took only 3 days for 19 windows and 4 entry doors. These guys work FAST, without sacrificing attention to detail. When we had a mishap with one of my cats escaping the "safe space" they worked with me until I could corral him into another safe space. The crew chief, Chris Riley, is personable and managed the job well. The work site was left CLEAN. The full screens I asked for were installed later, and they're great. I had many windows that hadn't been opened for years because of being painted shut, nor had they been cleaned well. Now I can clean my own windows, the draftiness is gone and I am comfortable because that this company stands by its work. I am an anxious person. This was the biggest job I've ever had done where I didn't already know the person doing the work. They dealt with my anxiety beautifully and kindly. Today, the two techs arrived at the agreed-to time and within an hour the glass was replaced and the work area was all cleaned up. When I called the support person back, the total charge was just as we had agreed to. This unstall was completed in (5) weeks after the initial order with no flaws whatsoever. I was 100% satisfied with the LOWE'S installation team. I decided to have a front door and storm door installed on a new house just for the sake of having a Pella product in my new house. I made the mistake of using Pella of NC and it was absolutely the worst experience I have encountered in my 35 years of home ownership dealing with all sorts of businesses and contract services. My order consisted of an exterior door and a storm door. If not for the excellent installation by Jimmy, I would rate Pella at ZERO STARS if possible. It took nearly 7 months to finally get the door and proper hardware installed due to damaged product, several re-orders, and a no-show by Pella on a scheduled installation. Pella did offer a compensation of slightly less than 10%, but I feel I deserved more based on the following timeline: 12/9/24: Doors ordered 2/6/25: (1st install attempt) Door was severely damaged and had to be re-ordered 5/2/25: (2nd install attempts) Pella was a no show and did not contact me. (inexcusable) - Pella informed that my new door was "missing" and they would call me back when found - After a week they called and said they could not locate the door and had to re-order again 6/13/25: (3rd install attempt) Both doors are installed but there were no hardware/handles for the door - Hardware was re-ordered 7/7/25: Door hardware was installed Several Pella employees confided in me that Pella management can't keep up with small orders and that a recent influx of new employees was the cause of mismanagement and poor communication within Pella. Based on my experience, it is obvious that several key players on the Pella team have reached their level of incompetence. I would definitely consider other options based on the high number of one star reviews on Google, Yelp and the Better Business Bureau.
