The beer is amazing and the food is great, too. I don't write many reviews but I am writing this one because, having moved to the area relatively recently after years living in major cities, I REALLY want this place to stay in business. There are so few options like this around here. However, I have to knock off a couple of stars over something that should be very fixable. This is done in the sincere hope the management can see this feedback and change things, which will only increase their chance of success. What is the issue? The vibe. Concurring with Heather M below, the staff seems kind of cold and standoff-ish. Outside of bare-minimum service pleasantries, which are always fine, there is little to no other effort to engage and create an upbeat environment. The staff just doesn't seem to know what to do when not actually serving. They need to engage more, show some energy, and just plain seem friendlier. If the owners can fix that issue, they will have a winning total formula here. Perhaps make one Red Bull per hour mandatory for the staff! We're always up for a brewery and were excited to try this one. It wasn't busy when we went and the very friendly host sat us right away. Unfortunately, he was the only friendly one there. Not just one, but seemingly ALL of the waitresses were completely blind to us. We were sitting in the middle of the place and felt totally invisible, watching others that came in after us get waited on. Because of this, we moved to the bar, hoping if we were more in someone's face that we'd be served. I'm pretty sure if my mom hadn't spoken up and said what she wanted, the bartender would've ignored us indefinitely as well. Contrary to the service, the food was fantastic. Both the pretzel bites AND the pretzel were top tier; we got the regular pretzel to go and had it later on. The Reuben wasn't in my top 5 but it was still very good. Service and atmosphere are five stars! Drinks probably a close four stars-note I'm not the beer drink but those I went with do drink beer and let me know it was good. I drank their seltzer and it was good. We only had appetizers so we will be back again to try entrees, the appetizers we tried were on recommendation from staff and were okay/good, but unlikely to order again. Rueggenbach brewing is a little diamond in a rough in Marshall TEXAS. This brewery has unique beers and has some fantastic meals and they also can do pairing to meals with the selection of beers. This place has three stories one being the roof. The weight staff are exceptionally knowledgeable of the beer and of the food products. The brewery is very clean. The ambience of this location is very fun to be around. I was in town for a trial. I started for an appetizer. I tried the spicy cheese curds. That was very tasty. And I had a light salad called the seasonal salad. Man that salad was on the spot. I had one beer it was called the feast beer. It was a cream ale man that was out of this world. This is no doubt one of the coolest spots in Marshall, Texas. There is a fantastic food menu paired with beers here which makes for one of the best spots to get lunch or dinner and hang out in an old fire station with the coolest decor and furniture. Parking was easy and plentiful around the square where this local brewery sits at the edge of. By the looks of the guitars and amps set up inside they no doubt have live music here and probably often. I came in during the week, at dinner time, and they didn't have anyone playing that night. But I did see the monthly calendar of events on the wall (near the entrance) in case you want to make plans to check out some good talent. I bet it live music here sounds so good. This building has such a large ceiling that I could see the acoustics of the space to really compliment any band and/or singer. Go check up stairs too! They got some cool couches and hang out spots to play games and you can even have a large group upstairs. There is plenty of space and spots up there. Service was friendly and fast! I wanted some dinner and the bar lady guided me to a delicious spinach mushroom burger with fries. It was a large portion which made me super happy to have leftovers to take back with me for a midnight snack at my hotel. Trek upstairs and be sure to take in the rooftop views of the square of Marshall. I got some great photos of the views and really could tell Marshall is a charming little town. I recommend getting a beer or cider they have on the menu that just sounds delicious. Whatever calls to you I know they have something on their beer or wine list for you. I even saw a cooler off to the side with additional bottles of wines and drinks. Ask the staff what they suggest and take a chance. You will be happy you do as I had a nice strawberry creme cider here the evening I came in and it was delightful! read more

Marshall's first brewery has established a cozy home inside the city's original fire station on the square. The 1872 building has been beautifully renovated and designed to showcase a working brewery. Rüeggenbach offers a small menu of pub food (see menu). The star here is the beer. It's a great place to hangout with friends and enjoy an ice cold beer made right on the premises. Many different varieties of brew are on tap. The place is three stories tall, with a sofas, a bar, and tables on the first floor. A concert and meeting area is on the second floor. Just above that is a rooftop patio overlooking the courthouse square. There's nothing else like it in town. read more

My grown son and me and the hubs were there around Thanksgiving and I have nothing but good things to say. Wings were large and tasty, my burger was perfectly medium and juicy. Best part was the beer! They had a seasonal brew with a peppermint candy rim that was almost chocolatey! So dang good. And they have flights. I sure hope they have that same seasonal beer this year. What a treat to find this great brewery on our impromptu detour to see the famous Harrison County, Texas Courthouse Christmas Lights. We went during the Ruggenbach Oktoberfest. The brewery was very busy, and the service was marginal, we waited for an hour and. No one took our order. So we left. They did have a tent outside selling some of their brews and we purchased the Hefeweizen. It was very good. I'll try them again, if only to get a beer. How the food is, I don't know. Probably not fair to judge their waitstaff since I'm certain they are usually not as busy as they were that particular day. read more

Very excited to try this place. We were headed to a magic show and it's close by. Server took our order pretty quick. We wanted a little time to look over the menu on our phones so we got drinks. I wanted to order an appetizer but she was too quick. Took our dinner order and I also asked for the pretzel appetizer. Half our order came out and we waited for the other half. Mushroom burger was very good. Fries were also very good. Kids ordered the Mac and cheese. One kid cleaned her plate the other is picky. She got to almost half way and said it was too mushy for her. My girlfriend and I stopped in on our way through the area sightseeing on a weekday afternoon. We were immediately greeted by the owner and his family. Very good people. Treated us like family. The beer was good. They had a normal selection of IPAs and other craft beers. I would recommend 2 things... serve the particular beer in its intended glass.. tulip glasses for IPAs ect.. Also, I would be more bold with the beer offerings.. something unique. Habanero, blackberries, something you can't get anywhere else. The building itself is amazing. They did an amazing job remodeling this place. The rooftop bar area is great. Definitely will be visiting again when we're in the area. read more
