Love this place. An underrated gem in the area. Their bagel sandwiches are delicious, filled with flavor and on a well made bagel. Everything I've tried here has been really yummy and worth it. Parking validation for an hour for free in the parking structure. No indoor seating but some seating outside.
There was a line out the door when I arrived. Super snug and homely establishment. They have a lot of savory and sweet varieties to choose from. The main seating area is a walk towards the back. I decided to get the twice baked savory croissant and the chocolate coffee croissant. They were both okay, nothing outstanding. I didn't really taste the caramelized onion chive flavor that was advertised, as the gruyere was very potent. The bread was flat and almost hard. Not a hint of a crisp, flaky exterior in which yields to a soft, airy interior. I imagine both would've tasted a lot better if it was freshly made or warmed up at the least.
The egg bagel sammys are insanneeeee. Absolutely the best bagel ever the jalepeno cheese is no joke. The texture of the bagels is absolutely perfect!! I got no modifications and it was absolutely perfect as is. Would highly recommend the egg bagel sammy. The cinnamon roll/orange thing was really good!! Would be better heated up but I would get it again. I wish they had actual cinnamon rolls available!! I will be coming back to try more and get a loaf of the sourdough. Overall this met my expectations and I highly recommend it. The workers are also very friendly and accommodating.
Overall great vibey spot in lido! The various pastries we tried were all delicious and fresh. The have a little bit of seating in the back although the inside is quite small. Staff was nice and service speed was moderate. Parking in the area can get a bit tough though because everything is paid.
I love that they always have a new items every time you go in! The best part is the seasonal items and the kind staff that will greet you by name when you become a regular! Today we tried the seasonal apple Kringle, seasonal pumpkin spice latte and the egg Sammy bagel. They were not a disappointment! The flavors were 10/10 for all of the above. Will be back later this week for more! The display is set so you can see all they have to offer and the bakery from your first step into the building which gives great transparency of the kitchen!
A day at Lido Village isn't complete without a trip to Rye Goods. Favs include thumbprint cookie, vegan choco chip cookie, banana bread, and their seasonal vegan pumpkin muffin. Sourdough loaves and prepared deli soups and sandwiches are delicious - but my favorites will always be the pastry goodies!
This is such a hidden gem with some of the best breakfast foods I've ever had! I highly recommend the sundried tomato bagel sammy as well as the breakfast burrito. You can tell the ingredients are so fresh with no preservatives. It's also a woman-owned bakery! The place is small but they have outdoor seating in the back. I'd eat here everyday if I could!
the bagel was decent, i got the jalapeno cheddar. i liked the egg/chili oil in the sandwich and the amount of scallions. i wasn't a big fan of the creme cheese but their pastries looked good. i'd come back to try them!
Rye Goods is located right near Lido Marina Village (almost on the back side near the parking structure), with a few small tables outside to enjoy your pastries. You can park in the structure, or street park in the area. Everything looked AMAZING, and I ended up getting an almond croissant and the quiche. The quiche was so good and light with the side salad! The almond croissant was perfectly crispy, and a little bit on the hearty side. There was a hint of citrus in it which was so fun and different too! They add on gratuity but tell you up front which I don't mind (better than not telling the customer)!
Came here on a Saturday afternoon grabbed a refreshing kombucha and a morning bun. Both were absolutely delicious. There was an assortment of breads and pastries, both sweet and savory along with a fridge and freezer full of local goodies. The morning bun was absolutely delicious with a not too sweet cinnamon taste and delicious layers. The service was relatively quick since it was not crazy busy in the afternoon. It's a smaller place but very clean and there is sitting in the back. Parking here can be tricky, but I recommend parking across the street near bear flag, and walking over. I will be back to try more baked goods!
Lido, Newport Beach, CA Rye Goods bakery was on my to visit list for quite some time. I was intrigued with the use of Rye flour in the baked goods and visited Christmas Eve. to pick up a few items for Christmas morning breakfast and dinner with family. Food wise, we completely broke tradition this year with our normal routine for Christmas breakfast and dinner. I wanted to make breakfast sandwiches for Christmas breakfast and wanted a home made tasting English muffin, with no interest or time in baking them myself. I was elated when I found out Rye goods had them, but bummed out to hear they were frozen not fresh. We arrived to the bakery, and grabbed a pack of frozen muffins out of the freezer, $14. That was my Christmas Morning breakfast splurge. My husband looked around the small bread shelf and picked up a box of eight Parker Rolls. Nothing was priced. We went to pay at the register and my husband eyed the savory seasonal hand pies, made with winter squash and ordered one of those. We had a bit of sticker shock when we got the final price at the register...$48! As we were paying my husband noticed a 12% employee benefit pop up on the screen, there is no signage anywhere we could see explaining this charge. He initially thought the guy was being cool and giving us an employee discount? maybe for first visit? The man at the register told us thank you for your gratuity. At that point my husband questioned him and found out about the employee benefit charge. He asked if it was optional and we were told, no. Who knows how much really goes to the employees versus the business owner?! At minimum, a customer should know up front about the mandatory charge versus during the payment process. Signage should be placed in the store and on the website. About a week later we were walking on Forest Ave in Laguna Beach and saw a sign on a storefront for Rye Goods opening soon. My husband joked and said we invested in that future opening. So with tip and tax, thats roughly an extra 25% on top of already high prices! So on to the review for the items we purchased: 3 stars The English muffins were slightly shrunken and I could tell they suffered from being frozen at purchase. They were good not great, very heavy and dense. I just made some dough and baked off some Rye English muffins yesterday that blew these out of the water, in taste and texture. 3 stars seasonal hand pie: My husband said the hand pie was ok to good. 5 stars: The impulse buy of the purchase, the parker dinner rolls, proved to be the best choice, even with the 25% tax/tip surcharge (almost $3 per roll) they were dense, buttery and soft, warmed up with Christmas dinner, everyone loved them. At these prices I won't be a regular and I am not a fan of the surcharge!
Parking in this area (like most of Newport Beach) is paid. Service was friendly and warm. I ended up buying a kringle per employee recommendation. The filling was a strawberry/raspberry mix and the center was cream cheese; both of which were tasty. The pastry dough itself was an average danish, didn't taste spectacular. However I'd come back to try some of their other goodies.
What a hip, cool place for a morning treat. They have a great iced vanilla latte. They also pride themselves on a tasty variety of breakfast danishes and other items. Quick, friendly service. The only drawback is parking. read more

Ordered the chocolate chip cookie and it was mediocre. It's not your typical chocolate chip, it tasted like dry bread? Not sure how to explain it.. Asked if they could heat up the cookie but they said they don't heat up baked goods. Also got the peanut butter with salt and honey jar. The jar is very aesthetic but DO NOT BUY THIS! It is a waste of money!! The peanut butter is lacking with flavor and i don't even taste honey or salt!! And to top it off the jar costed $16.50.... I asked the cashier if I should get the almond or peanut butter and she recommended the peanut butter. I wish i could return this because i will not be using it at all read more

My favourite sourdough place for bread, specialty pastries, coffee and brunch. The location is perfect for a beach walk afterwards to put all the tasty carbs into energy. The staff is super polite and helpful in their recommendations. I even got my own coffee mug and try to take it with me every time to feel cozy when drinking coffee. Their winter seasonal butternut squash soup is to die for: warming and creamy, spiced to perfection. read more

Rye Goods is a cozy, cute bakery nestled within Lido Marina Village, and my friend and I were very excited to try their goods! We decided to try the soup of the day (butternut squash), cranberry raspberry danish, morning bun, and bagel sammy with tomato aioli. The baked goods were yummy enough, but they were all a little too sweet for my taste, and our grand total spent was on the higher side; to put it into perspective, the bagel sandwich was $16, but there was nothing special or memorable about it, in my opinion. For all of the sweet pastries, it seems like they put quite a lot of sugar across generous layers, so it started to get a little bit tiring to eat over time. The soup itself was flavorful and delicious, but it came to us almost at room temperature - not hot at all. I would come back to try their baked breads for sale, but I will pass on the pastries next time! read more
While in Newport Beach, we went to Rye Goods 2x for breakfast. (If you stay at the lido house, it's within walking distance.) I'd recommend going in at opening time since there can be a bit of line if you go later. This spot is more of grab and go and you can't really dine in. They have a variety of fresh baked goods ranging from breads, bagels, croissants, other type of pastries. We got their famous Egg Bagel Sammy and it probably was the best thing I ate in SoCal! I chose the jalapeño bagel and they stuffed it with chive cream cheese, crispy smashed potato, egg, chives, and this chili crunch oil. The flavor combo of all these elements were just amazing. The bagel was soft and freshly made. It was around $14 and so filling! I also enjoyed their almond croissant. I would come back again for their egg sandwhich and various croissants. The blueberry scone and chocolate chip cookie had too much of a salty taste so we'd probably avoid that. Customer service both times we went were great and our order was made in less than 10 minutes. One thing to note- they do not serve meat which is fine with me as I'm vegetarian. Highly recommend! read more

My absolute favorite spot to bring friends to! Their jalapeño cheddar bagel is the best bagel I've ever had in my life and I crave it all the time. The ambience inside is perfect and they sell so many amazing items! The staff is always super friendly and provides great recommendations. They're always willing to help you out and answer any questions you might have. read more
Dare I say I liked their morning buns here more than Tartine's? Came here on a Tuesday afternoon and was sad they weren't selling most of their popular pastry items like their almond croissant. Staff told me they mostly sell them on Fridays & weekends. But I still got to try their morning buns, seasonal toast w/ jam, chocolate croissant, & a marzipan orange loaf! Everything was really good but the morning buns were my FAV. Parking is street but not sure how bad it is on weekends. read more
I've been here a few times. Staff always so friendly, patient and helpful. I was excited they had Apple turnover so got the last two. It was very good. I like my turnovers where there is actually apple filling in there. Some places I feel like I often eat the pastry with no filling. For these, every slice I cut always had filling so it was really enjoyable. Looking forward to going back to Rye. read more

Wow the quality and flavor of these goods is off the WALL. I bake a lot, so I'm relatively picky with what sweets and pastries I consume. This place certainly delivers and then some. As good as B patisserie (San Fran), susu bakery (Seattle), parla crepe (Tokyo). As bae and I were waiting for bear flag, we walked across the street for some goodies. $21 with tip got me: Butter croissant $4 Veggie pepper jack butternut squash sandwich $12 Seasonal snail bun $4.50? butter croissant Made with a sourdough base was new, but very tasty. It was a touch denser than other croissants, but still maintained it's discernable layers. Very surprised and satisfied with this one. The outside was still crisp and crackled as you ripped off sections even at 1pm!! Seasonal snail bun Idk what exactly it is, but I was told it's walnut cream, pears, spices, and overall great. This pastry is insanely high quality, I loved this one quite a bit. The flavor is amazing and wasn't overly sweet, and each bite was almost a new flavor because it's so damn good. Have yet to try the sandwich, but I only expect good things. Their cold case carries fresh pasta and some small savory bites. Will have to make a monthly trip here so I don't get fluffy. read more
1/22/2022 Did not know this bakery existed until I drove through while trying to find parking to get coffee at Blue Bottle. Was excited at this new discovery! Did not realize that this bakery sold healthier versions of baked goods and all their baked goods are organic! Ordered what I could when I went past noon. Ordered: Almond cake, Semla, Chocolate Chip Cookie, Vegan Oatmeal Raisin Cookie, Banana Bread, and Blessed Booch Kombucha. The letdowns: Banana bread, Chocolate Chip Cookie, Vegan Oatmeal Raisin Cookie and the very overpriced kombucha. Would have loved to love them all, but oh well. My favorites: Almond cake and Semla. The almond cake had a light cake-like, nutty flavor and texture. It had visible fruit like fresh raspberry that brought a sweet, fruity flavor too. Compared to the other items I got, it was on the sweeter side. Would be lovely with a nice cup of tea. The Semla was something I've never had before and I absolutely loved it! The bread was like a cardamom flavored bun and is filled with marzipan and whipped cream, then dusted with powdered sugar. The marzipan was not smooth, but had coarsely ground almonds in them! Which I loved! It gave more flavor and texture in contrast to the smooth whipped cream. This is a must-try! Would love to be back to try their other items! Maybe buy a loaf or two of breads and even try their refrigerated ready-to-eat items such as soup or pasta. Also, great customer service! read more

The service here is amazing. Everyone is so nice and when you ask for an opinion or a question, they are here to serve and help. The line was a bit confusing when I came. It didn't really seem like there was an organized line as there were some people looking at the pastry case, others in the back looking at the fridge with their deli options, and another at the front with the fresh bread. I asked an employee about what they recommended and she was so helpful. Took me through a quick walkthrough of their store and what are the most popular items. Aside from the service, the goods are tasty. However, nothing blew my mind away. I did get the popular morning bun and two seasonal items (which were highly recommended). Delicious, but not mind-blowing. I will come back though to try more things of theirs. Their sandwich looked really good in the deli fridge. I also want to come back to get some bread! read more

Got the sundried tomato bagel Sammy and seasonal rosemary maple latte. Service was fine. To the point. Latte was delicious but the Sammy fell short. The flavor wasn't quite there. It should've worked but maybe seasoning was missing? I'm not sure, but I feel like it could've been a bit better. I've made my way across a lot of bagel shops and I don't know if I would pay $16 again. Get the latte! read more

Was in the area after a workout and decided to check out this place. I was really craving a bagel and I saw great reviews about the egg bagel Sammy, so I wanted to try it. Parking in this area is always a hassle, so just keep that in mind. I went on a Sunday morning and it was pretty busy. I waited about 30-40 minutes to get my bagel after ordering. The girl recommended that I get the cheesy jalapeño bagel and it was absolutely delicious. The chili crunch oil paired really well with the egg and potatoes. By far one of my favorite bagels, so far. read more
