Tried RYDE while visiting Houston and absolutely loved it! I had issues trying to book online, but upon arriving for my Saturday noon class was greeted and helped quickly. The doors didn't open until noon, which is nice because it allows everyone riding a chance to get there and get familiar with everything. I participated in Jessica's class, very nice and super energetic! I thought she had a great vibe throughout the entire class and made everyone feel welcomed. States bones are used and have both SPD and Delta clips on the pedals. Complimentary towels are placed on the bike and you're also given a cold towel past class. Great experience, looking forward to my next visit!

Simply the best! From the first time that I stepped foot into RYDE I knew that I was going to love it! Everyone from the front desk staff to the instructors are all so welcoming and they all make sure to greet everyone and make everyone feel comfortable. The facility is so clean and sleek and the bikes are top notch! I've been to several studios in Houston and around the country and nothing compares to RYDE! Now on to the classes. The classes are a great and fun workout, they are also an excellent way for me to relax and let go of everything that has been stressing me. It's one of my forms of therapy! Each bike keeps track of your metrics and you get a email after class so that you can keep track of your progress. After class is over they bring ice cold eucalyptus towels to your bike while stretching! (so clutch)I love the different variations of music played during class by each instructor and the different theme RYDES. It makes class fun and go by so fast that doesn't even feel like a workout, more like a party on a bike! I saw someone mention that they were offended by the music being played, but it's the same thing being played on the radio, in the gym and at all other spin studios I've visited, even Soul cycle. As a person of color, I can honestly say that I have never been offended by the music played. I know the instructors intentions are not to offend anyone. It's not like the instructors are rapping the lyrics. I don't come to RYDE to workout to baby shark, I want to get pumped and a little ratchet sometimes. (nothing wrong with that) LOL Even if you don't like or feel comfortable with the rap music/lyrics, they have many instructors to choose from that don't play rap. I love that about RYDE too! They have so many class times and instructors to choose from if something isn't working for you. I also love how they partner with local businesses and have events at different venues around town and also at the studio after classes. Some days they will have coffee for early classes, snacks/lunch for mid day classes, samples from different healthy meal prep companies for evenings and of course bubbles/mimosas for Saturdays or special occasion classes! I have met so many people here that have turned into lifelong friends! The owners are so nice and always so accommodating. If there are any issues they are always prompt in addressing it and working with customers to make sure they feel taken care of and appreciated! To be honest, their customer service is one of the make reasons I love RYDE. I've brought so many of my friends to RYDE and they all love it too! RYDE has truly spoiled me, whenever I go to other studios I can't help but compare. Once you experience RYDE, you won't want to go anywhere else!

I've been coming to Ryde quite regularly now and I absolutely love it! I've only been to a few other cycling classes at different gyms and Ryde has been the only one that has been able to keep me interested and actually make me break a sweat. I've taken classes with instructors Ashley, Brad, and Lauren. My favorite session has been with Ashley, her energy is out the roof and her teaching style is fantastic. It definitely helped keep me in the zone and focused. The facility itself is very cool! As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by the receptionist at a very long bar-like desk. In the corner they have some 'Ryde' flare for sale like T-Shirts and Water Bottles. If you've been to Ryde before, no need to bring your wallet to buy anything. They already have your credit card on file tied to your membership. Heading towards the back area of the building you will find the lockers and two separate bathrooms for men and women. The bathrooms also include one shower if you prefer to clean up there. The actual studio where all the fun takes place is pretty badass. It's a dark setting. There are several fans on the ceiling to keep you cooled down during spinning. When the class actually starts although it's dark, the crazy fun light show that goes on brightens it up quite a bit. The music choice is great, more of an EDM playlist which I enjoy a ton. At the end of your 45-minute spin, the staff brings in cold mint-freshed scented towels to wipe yourself down with. I've been very pleased with my visits here, and recommend you check it out!

The static fit yoga class at Duo Houston with Lesbianland was such a good time. It was outside, the weather cooperated, and the energy was just right. A whole crowd of beautiful women, good music, and a space that felt safe, calm, and fun all at the same time. Morgan Brown led the class and really set the tone. It felt grounding but still had a little spice to it, not boring at all. After class, they had matcha and acai bowls and gave us 15% off, which I love because who doesn't want a little reward after pretending you can plank longer than you actually can. Speaking of... they had a planking contest and somebody held it for over five minutes. I tapped out mentally just watching. Only thing to note, if you want coffee you'll need to walk over to a nearby shop in Autry Park, but it's super close so no complaints there. Overall, great vibes, great people, and definitely a space I'd come back to.

I later found out that the free class doesn't include reformer Pilates, so I signed up for a Yin Yoga class instead. I've been practicing yoga for over two decades. Signing up online was easy but I received a flood of emails asking me to download different apps along with multiple email and text reminders for one class. Personally, I found the reminders excessive. The studio wasn't very busy when I arrived around 4:30 pm. However, I wasn't told which room my class was in, so I found myself wandering around until another member kindly pointed me in the right direction. Unfortunately, my first interaction with the instructor left a poor impression. As I was walking into the room and putting my phone on silent, she immediately said, "No phones inside." The comment came across as abrupt and presumptive. I wasn't planning to use my phone during class as I was simply silencing it before putting it away. A friendlier approach would have made a much better first impression. She then asked me to grab two yoga blocks. Once inside, I found the room extremely dim. As someone with low vision, it was difficult to navigate and I briefly considered leaving. Since I was already there and because I'd practiced hundreds of Yin Yoga classes but had never experienced a heated Yin class, I decided to stay. I'm actually a longtime fan of heated yoga and love Bikram yoga (now hot yoga) when it first opened in HTX. The class itself was somewhat enjoyable and I felt good both during and afterward. After class, I wasn't sure where to return the yoga blocks. Another student asked me the same question and we quickly realized we were both first-time visitors. This highlighted something that could easily be improved: it would be helpful if instructors spent just a minute welcoming first-time students and explaining a few basics, such as studio etiquette, where to put props after class, and any post-class expectations. Small touches like that can make newcomers feel much more comfortable. Before leaving, I checked out the locker rooms and noticed they have showers. The facility is spacious and offers a wide variety of classes, including aerial yoga, which looked interesting. Overall, the studio has a lot to offer. However, the onboarding experience and instructor interaction could be more welcoming for first-time visitors. While the facility is impressive, I'm not sure I can justify paying over $200/month for a membership although there are lower tiers. in addition, I travel abroad frequently and read that there is a $35 fee to freeze the account.

The first thing I noticed when I arrived is how impressive the building itself is. This place felt like a mansion was purchased and renovated to become a wellness center - it was luxurious. I was greeted and shown around and everything was in pristine shape - the studio, the locker rooms, wow. Once I had my shoes on (first rental is free and $3.5 each time after), I made my way into class to setup my bike. They have a team member in the class room to help you if you need it. Additionally, the instructor arrived to class early and came over to introduce himself which made this a more personalized experience. I found it to be interesting that they use real candles here rather than the battery operated ones but it was nice. The class itself was intense and was more for advanced riders than most of the other spin classes I've attended. Personally, this was too fast paced with too much going on for me to want to do it again but I do recognize it's value and why people love it. Also- the lighting and theatrics in the class are fantastic and it really is a production. All in all, this is a high end studio with a very specific ride style but I appreciate the experience they give you and how high-quality everything is.

I have also been taking livestream classes from Define from my home during the pandemic. The classes are a good price ($12) compared the in-studio ones, and there are offerings from 5:30 AM to 7:00 PM, across all types of workouts. The studios are renting equipment for people who do not have that at home. However, since I am several states away, I am already set up with what I have here. I have taken bounce and body classes via livestream and the sound quality is great. There are one or two instructors on zoom, and one is cueing while another is demo-ing. I was also able to take two free classes (one body and one bounce) with the founder, Henry Richardson. I actually was able to talk to him both times before he started the class and he was so nice. Safe to say, I just brought my handbag into the cycling room because I couldn't trust the security of my things. The spin instructor was not very welcoming either. I had to set up my own stationary bike seat level, and I would've liked a little bit more help to make sure I was comfortable before starting the workout. I mean, the class was only 50% full. Once I did get started, the workout was challenging only because I kept the resistance on my bike up. Otherwise, the instructor was pretty lukewarm with her enthusiasm during the workout. Also, what the heck is up with the dimmed lighting?! I mean, if we were doing yoga or meditation, I get it. But, an intense cardio workout? I couldn't even see some of the moves she was telling me to do, to be honest. The lights should've just stayed on. Even then, the workout music was playing even louder than the instructor was talking. So, I barely knew what she was saying too. I don't feel there was effective communication at all. I wish the workout music was more upbeat as well. I mean, at one point, Ed Sheeran's song, "Perfect" started playing. I was like, wth? There were only women in the room. Awkward. Otherwise, the facility is very clean. They have a bathroom next to the changing rooms. They have automatic hand sanitizers and a water dispensing station. Also, they did give me a free pair of rental shoes for the spin class because it was my first time here. So, that was nice. I don't know that I'd be back, though, just because the customer service was not great, and the workout was not very inspiring.
