Tried RYDE while visiting Houston and absolutely loved it! I had issues trying to book online, but upon arriving for my Saturday noon class was greeted and helped quickly. The doors didn't open until noon, which is nice because it allows everyone riding a chance to get there and get familiar with everything. I participated in Jessica's class, very nice and super energetic! I thought she had a great vibe throughout the entire class and made everyone feel welcomed. States bones are used and have both SPD and Delta clips on the pedals. Complimentary towels are placed on the bike and you're also given a cold towel past class. Great experience, looking forward to my next visit!

Simply the best! From the first time that I stepped foot into RYDE I knew that I was going to love it! Everyone from the front desk staff to the instructors are all so welcoming and they all make sure to greet everyone and make everyone feel comfortable. The facility is so clean and sleek and the bikes are top notch! I've been to several studios in Houston and around the country and nothing compares to RYDE! Now on to the classes. The classes are a great and fun workout, they are also an excellent way for me to relax and let go of everything that has been stressing me. It's one of my forms of therapy! Each bike keeps track of your metrics and you get a email after class so that you can keep track of your progress. After class is over they bring ice cold eucalyptus towels to your bike while stretching! (so clutch)I love the different variations of music played during class by each instructor and the different theme RYDES. It makes class fun and go by so fast that doesn't even feel like a workout, more like a party on a bike! I saw someone mention that they were offended by the music being played, but it's the same thing being played on the radio, in the gym and at all other spin studios I've visited, even Soul cycle. As a person of color, I can honestly say that I have never been offended by the music played. I know the instructors intentions are not to offend anyone. It's not like the instructors are rapping the lyrics. I don't come to RYDE to workout to baby shark, I want to get pumped and a little ratchet sometimes. (nothing wrong with that) LOL Even if you don't like or feel comfortable with the rap music/lyrics, they have many instructors to choose from that don't play rap. I love that about RYDE too! They have so many class times and instructors to choose from if something isn't working for you. I also love how they partner with local businesses and have events at different venues around town and also at the studio after classes. Some days they will have coffee for early classes, snacks/lunch for mid day classes, samples from different healthy meal prep companies for evenings and of course bubbles/mimosas for Saturdays or special occasion classes! I have met so many people here that have turned into lifelong friends! The owners are so nice and always so accommodating. If there are any issues they are always prompt in addressing it and working with customers to make sure they feel taken care of and appreciated! To be honest, their customer service is one of the make reasons I love RYDE. I've brought so many of my friends to RYDE and they all love it too! RYDE has truly spoiled me, whenever I go to other studios I can't help but compare. Once you experience RYDE, you won't want to go anywhere else!

I've been coming to Ryde quite regularly now and I absolutely love it! I've only been to a few other cycling classes at different gyms and Ryde has been the only one that has been able to keep me interested and actually make me break a sweat. I've taken classes with instructors Ashley, Brad, and Lauren. My favorite session has been with Ashley, her energy is out the roof and her teaching style is fantastic. It definitely helped keep me in the zone and focused. The facility itself is very cool! As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by the receptionist at a very long bar-like desk. In the corner they have some 'Ryde' flare for sale like T-Shirts and Water Bottles. If you've been to Ryde before, no need to bring your wallet to buy anything. They already have your credit card on file tied to your membership. Heading towards the back area of the building you will find the lockers and two separate bathrooms for men and women. The bathrooms also include one shower if you prefer to clean up there. The actual studio where all the fun takes place is pretty badass. It's a dark setting. There are several fans on the ceiling to keep you cooled down during spinning. When the class actually starts although it's dark, the crazy fun light show that goes on brightens it up quite a bit. The music choice is great, more of an EDM playlist which I enjoy a ton. At the end of your 45-minute spin, the staff brings in cold mint-freshed scented towels to wipe yourself down with. I've been very pleased with my visits here, and recommend you check it out!

Riti was our instructor for RUN X FULL BODY & she kept the upbeat vibes the entire time! It was honestly impressive & equally shocking how amazing her classroom management was haha but she kept us motivated for the whole 50 minutes. There were various sets where half the class was on the treadmill and the other half on the floor. The treadmillers were jogging, sprinting, & everything in between. The floor people were doing a lot of squats, bodyweight & weight lifting exercises. Then every few minutes the people on the treadmill would switch to the floor and vice versa. You really have to listen carefully and pay attention while the instructor is moving around shouting out what you're supposed to do. Parking is in a lot or on the street, both requires payment. There are lockers to store your belongings as well as showers in the bathrooms. They provide towels at eac station for the class as well. You be assigned a number for the treadmill & the floor section. This is definitely not meant for someone who gets overstimulated easily but if you like chaotic exercise classes, I highly recommend. Try it out at least once, you won't regret it!

From a chat with the barista, I learned that Duo started because the husband had a love for coffee and the wife had a passion for pilates, so they thought "why not combine the two?" The River Oaks location is the founding store and they have since expanded to a second location as well. The people who work here truly seem happy and are eager to share the stories of their founders, which makes the place even more special. During my visit, I tried the birthday cake latte, which is a seasonal drink, and the flavors were also beyond what I've tried elsewhere. I'm typically not a fan of birthday cake flavored items, but I was feeling adventurous so I told the barista to surprise me with a drink from their menu and that's the flavor they ended up picking for me. When I received the birthday cake latte, I wasn't all that excited but all prejudice fell away after the first sip! I didn't adjust any sugar or ice levels like I typically do for my drinks, yet the drink was just right! Overall, I am just amazed by the people, the vision, and the gem of a place that I sort of happened into on a random weekend. I will definitely be returning again frequently for pilates, lattes, and/or fun conversations. Pro tip: initially it looks like visitors have to use street parking, but I confirmed with the staff that the parking lot across from the coffeehouse is free to use as well. Instructor, Olga, was great and we focused on deep stretches that left me feeling renewed, which was especially helpful as I did HIIT exercises five days this week. There were a few things that I did not like which is why I'm skeptical of returning. First, there was absolutely no music. Every other yoga studio I've been to has, at minimum, played some sort of meditation or relaxing music. I'm someone who needs some kind of noise at all time, so I did not like the silent atmosphere. Additionally, the windows were kept open for the majority of the class, so the outside noise was coming through and was very distracting at times. The studio itself was very nice and well kept, but I noticed there weren't any mirrors in the room where the yoga class was held. I, personally, like to see myself in a mirror to ensure that I'm doing the poses correctly, so I found the lack of mirrors to be annoying. Otherwise, it was a great experience! The receptionist in the front was very kind and helpful. While I probably won't do another yoga class here, I am interested in trying out their Pilates classes!

If I were new, it would probably be more like 2-3 stars. There's been a turnover of instructors, and they are rallying. While the new teachers are nice and putting in the effort, they lack foundational Pilates knowledge. Classes are similar to a spin class because instructors talk and encourage the WHOLE time. It ends up being a bit chaotic because people can't distinguish between the cheerleading, the necessary cues, or spring changes. Most importantly, the detailed form cues and corrections are missing. Classes feel rushed and lack clear direction on technique, which is the opposite of what Pilates should be. Classes can still be hard and appropriately paced. The cues and form are what makes Pilates hard, not rushing through moves. (Its also physically impossible to do a weighted low squat and a shoulder press within 1 second- let alone safely on a reformer. Why are we doing this?) It seems they all went to the same training class and haven't trained with different instructors so it's a problem across the 6-8 teachers I've tried in the last 3 months. If it weren't for Stacey and Caroline, I'd have moved to a closer studio by now. I hope the instructors undergo more training and are introduced to more than one type of teaching so they develop their own style. People are nice, and they are trying, but they aren't there yet.
