So it looks like a review hasn't been recently written in about 3 years. Yikes *insert shocked emoji* I haven't heard of CycleBar until Momentum Climbing gym was doing a deal with them for current members. Both establishments exchanged deals where the members could experience rock climbing and spin class. I couldn't pass up a deal and plus it was my first time ever doing spin class. So why not? If it's your first time, the people there know. Like they really know. I kinda looked like a deer in the headlights. BUT I was helped and the process was easy. The hospitality was really awesome. I was provided shoes, a tour, and info on how to set up my bike. I took my first class on August 29, 2021 with Elliott. And let me tell you....spin class is no joke. I was DRENCHED in sweat. How is that even possible!? It was a 45 min class of pumpin music, you're standing while spinning, you're doing arm workouts while spinning, you're sitting while spinning... you push yourself to your limit. And boy, my thighs were on fire. Us climbers have way better arm strength. So I kinda go suckered into buying a membership after my first ride...it was a huge discount from what they normally sell. Since they were partnering with Momentum members, they gave us a huge deal to entice us. And I got suckered in. Fast forward 2 months later, I've taken every other 7am class since joining and every few weekend classes. The 7am classes get you pumped for the workday. It's such a fun cardio class and you know you had a good cardio session when your body is drenched in sweat. I've had my days where I impulsively signed up for a class and my mood decreased. I could tell in my stats. But that's on me cause these classes are intense sometimes and if you over do it, you can be super fatigued. But I felt overly ambitious, but also didn't want to reschedule in the short amount of time and pay a penalty fee. Here are a few things I've experienced so far. The amenities are pretty awesome. 1. Free shoe rentals 2. High end bathrooms - comes with towels, shampoo/conditioner, blow dryer, hair ties, feminine products 3. Towels during each ride, and fresh cold towels after each ride 4. Water station with either cold, or room temp water 5. You can download the app and pick your schedule that fits just right for you. It even shows you your stats from the bike you rode on Some things I wish this established offered, as well as some cons I've experienced: 1. As a rock climber, we love a good guest pass. With our memberships, we get one guest pass a month, as well the first and third Friday of the month to bring guests. We even get perks sometimes to bring a guest (new or different) everyday for a month. And might I add, you can bring a different person or the same person as many times. It doesn't need to be their first time. From what I was told, you are allowed to bring guests to CycleBar, ONLY if they are first time riders. Which sucks especially with the high membership fees this place prices. 2. If I hadn't been a Momentum member and tried out a class, I probably wouldn't have joined at all. In actuality, their membership prices are pretty expensive. Even the punch passes for 'X' amount of classes purchased is expensive. If I'm being real here, I truly can't even afford their membership prices if it weren't for the huge discount. Otherwise I'd stick to Momentum since it's SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper. I don't make enough money to pay their membership prices regardless how standard it is compared to other studios. I'm seriously broke Lmfaooo 3. You get charged for missing a class or not canceling in time. I get it, if everyone missed a class, then the time it took for the instructor to prepare would have been a waste. You must cancel 12 hours in advance. But I can't afford $15 no show fee. So best be there. 4. I'm not sure why the rental shoes come in half sizes. But that may be con to a few people. 5. Your punch passes for 'X' amount of classes you purchased expire. I honestly don't appreciate that. Compared to the climbing gym, your punch passes never expire. So the fact that you have to use those rides in a specific time frame, really kinda deters you. I will say, I've consistently showed up 15 min before class and chilled out in the locker area just to prepare myself for an intense class. Staff are always willing to help me adjust my seat. I've taken every instructor's class. Each has their own style and intensity. So it's nice to challenge myself even though I'm at the bottom of the leaderboard. I don't even know how some of these people in my classes spin so hard. My legs die. I've even come out of class looking like I peed myself. I'd like to also mention I road bike. I've done 60 mile races to the MS150 rides. And it's SO DIFFERENT. Overall, I've fairly enjoyed spin class. It's a really great way to get your cardio going.

I've been by this CycleBar a few times now, and every time is truly a 5 star experience. The people are nice, the facilities are clean, and the instructors really know how to work up a sweat. Instructor Taylor is equal parts fun and intense, she really knows how to get the class jumping. I went in as a complete cycling newb, but they made me feel right at home. Parking can be a little tricky around rush hours, since this shares parking lots with a few businesses. So you might have to find street parking or park across the street. Updated - There is additional parking in back, coming from Winter St.

All bikes were 6ft apart! The room was large & very clean!

First heard about cyclebar when I signed up for a charity fundraiser for Susan b Komen breast cancer ride at Mem City...they were advertising a five ride free pass for their grand opening. Decided to drive down to sawyer heights to check it out and had 2 sessions for the 5 free rides. Loved it!! The place is brand new with super clean facilities. I signed up for the 20 ride pass that they had a welcome special on. With this comes 20 classes, shoe rental, free towels, and a moist cool towel after class. If you forget ur hair scrunchie they have some and there are three showers in the ladies bathroom and blow dryer etc to get ready for work. They provide combination lock lockers for your stuff while your in class.

Their customer service sucks. I've had instructors change my reserved seats and put me elsewhere so their friends can ride close to the instructor! Then, they offered a "two week special" and failed to say that the special begins AT the time of purchase... I purchased it on Nov 1 at 9:45pm and even lost that day because I purchased it after business hours. Tell me how that's fair?? Then, my first class wasn't until Nov 3, and since they never said that it begins immediately instead the day of first use, which is most common in my experience, (although they claim this "policy" was in the email... but see the email screenshot attached where it doesn't exist) I've now lost two days out of 14. When I sent an email to them (also attached), what happens?? *Crickets* Not a single reply out of courtesy. Not even a "Sorry sir, it's not gonna happen." Total silence and disregard. I had a similar issue at another spin place and they were all about taking care of me. Total opposite ends of the spectrum. One place cared, CycleBar doesn't. Talking to them in person they say "well, we'll give you one day" but pretend like it's some sort of favor. You know, every other spin place I've been has been supportive of proper customer service and this wouldn't have happened elsewhere. This place doesn't think.... my girlfriend and her group of friends are members at Revolution and we were scheduling for them to come try CycleBar and they were willing to make the change! So now, CycleBar has lost up to five customers over this. My girlfriend's group all pay the monthly unlimited at Revolution... so CycleBar is now out up to $600 a month because I refuse to endorse a company that doesn't put the customer first. They now will never try CycleBar... Bravo, CycleBar, for losing up to five customers in one fatal swoop based on poor customer service. Now that's the way to run people off.

On my first free visit I was greeted, given swag & an encouraging message on my locker.

Free shoe rental, but I had to buy my own, because I have some really wide feet (bunions).

For a luxe location to downgrade their lockers without anyone knowing was a big shock. The lockers before were great and you didn't need your own lock which is a selling point for me but without anyone knowing the changes they were making a lot of us are now carrying our bags around everywhere which wasn't an issue before. Pretty interesting for a "luxe" location to downgrade anything but the membership cost hasn't gone down. Not to mention this is by far the HOTTEST indoor gym I've ever been to. Apparently the AC is controlled by corporate which is wild considering houston climate is more miserable than most. It's better to work out outside even in the summer because you at least get airflow that way. Other than the downgrades and the heat it's a pretty solid gym. Gets extremely busy during peek hours but that's expected.
