This man has the touch of a God and is totally my man crush Monday. No lie. Rolfing is like myofascial release or a deep tissue massage without the pain. LOCATION: Tucked away is a small outlet near Elvas Ave a few blocks from the Mimosa House. DECOR: In a nice office/room inside a physical therapy clinic. Minimalistic and cozy. PRICE: About $100-$150 depending on each clients needs. STAFF: Ryan Caputi is the owner/operator and not only has he helped me with a physical disability obtained in the military and helped in a way any other treatments haven't, he has taught me so much more about diet and sleep just based on who he is as a person and how he loves his life. I really feel better physically and mentally by the time I leave. EXPERIENCE: Let me tell you about the day I nearly came to tears after I give you some context. I have been dealing with degenerative disc disease, arthritis, and spinal stenosis with most of the pain stemming from my lower back. It negatively effects my ability to hinge and rotate at the waist as well as my ability to participate in most sports. So first we work on my lower back. Ryan's touch is light. Too light for me. I'm thinking "this can't possibly do anything. Doesn't feel like he's deep enough," but I just went with it. Next, Ryan says he'll work on my psoas tendon which is usually cause for a lot of hip and lower back pain. In order to do this, he must go through my stomach. First off, hell no! I can't even set my own hand on my stomach when I'm laying down because it's so sensitive. But it's the only way. So here it goes. I breathe deeply and slowly to prepare for the discomfort, but there was none. He was literally pressing through by stomach and I didn't die. I was in disbelief. We finally finish with that portion and Ryan asks me to sit up when I'm ready and then stand up. I sit up and wait a minute like usual. Then I stand up and can't believe what just happened so I had to sit down and stand up again to make sure it wasn't a fluke. For the first time in almost 10 years I stood up WITHOUT ANY PAIN. To no exaggeration, I had to fight the tears back. The next day I had a spin class and could feel soreness in my muscles. The Rolfing had gotten much deeper than I thought. After the class my muscles felt great. After the class, everyone wanted a fitness photo. So I do the splits which I have been able to do for a while, but not without stretching beforehand. Not only that, when I jumped up (and yes. I do mean JUMPED UP) off the ground, I couldn't even form words. I was in a time warp envisioning my past physical trauma slipping away. Now, my psoas is still putting up a fight over time, but I finally know exactly what is causing the most pain and I feel more optimistic about the future of my physical health than ever before! read more

I've heard about Rolfing years ago but have never tried it. There was even a place now far from my house several years ago but when I called for an appointment, it was closed. A good friend of mine told me her son was trained and doing Rolfing in Sacramento. That's about a 40-45 minute drive for me. I decided to make an appointment and try it because I've been dealing with years of chronic pain in my neck and upper trapezius. My appointment was during a very busy time because the parking lot was packed. It was a good thing I was about 15 minutes early because I drove around to look for parking in the area. I soon gave up and circled back to the parking lot and a couple of spaces opened up. Ryan is very professional and made me feel comfortable. His treatment room is very clean and warm, just the way I like it. Prior to the appointment, I received an email asking me to fill out a detailed questionnaire and to bring it to my appointment. After my body work, I was feeling looser and more relaxed. Ryan worked on my arms, lengthening and loosing my muscles. When my appointment was finished, I could tell my arms hung looser and straighter than before. He also worked on my shoulders and upper trap area. He said our next appointment will focus on my feet and legs. I will definitely keep coming for more Rolfing treatments. I think this will help me so much more than massage. Ryan's great. He's very skillful at what he does. He's able to really "see" through his hands and read whats going on in your body and what to do to help correct things. I feel the benefit after my sessions, sometimes immediately after, sometimes after a day or so . He opens my body up. I think his rolfing is helping unwind deep tensions & clenches in my body. Overall he's a nice guy with a very chill, agreeable and safe vibe. Easy to talk to and to share openly with; we discuss wellness topics sometimes (he knows a lot), and if you aren't feeling like talking in-session, he's cool w/ that too and you can proceed in silence or with some music, if you'd like. I discovered Ryan's Rolfing after feeling absolutely hopeless with chronic pain in my hips and imbalances with my body alignment. After I had knee surgery in 2014, I did not receive the proper physical therapy and over time, my body compensated causing pain and soreness that seemed to never go away. I am an 82-year-old retired medical physician. Because of my specialty over the years, I developed chronic low back pain and poor posture. For relief, I saw an acupuncturist who provided me with intermittent partial relief of my pain. Approximately 18 months ago, she referred me to Ryan for Rolfing treatments. That referral essentially changed my life. My back pain is now 90% gone and more importantly my physical posture has improved dramatically. I want to add on to my previous review. I was feeling absolutely wonderful, after the sessions I'd had. Since then, we've moved to the core and focused on where my problems actually lie; moreover, Ryan has noticed an aggravated problem with the fascia in my hip/pelvic region, which has been causing more discomfort than is necessary. In our last session, he targeted this area (after thorough upper and lower back sessions) -- the results have been too good for words. If you're struggling with muscular-skeletal pain -- you know, the chronic kind -- then this treatment protocol is a must and worth the investment. I found Ryan through Kris Shevlin physical therapy ( Kris is AMAZING as well) I have tendon tibular dysfunction in my left ankle (tendons do not support ankle) and a right hip gluteus minimus and labrum tear...I walked funny and was in pain...for years!!! I went to Ryan primarily for relief from reoccuring neck and shoulder tension. He was able to provide relief for me in both of these areas. He is very attentive to responding to comments and trying to figure out the cause for aches and pains. I mentioned a knee issue and he suggested that it could be IT band related. I been receiving massages on/off for the last three years due to shoulder and joint pain. It was accidental that I came across Ryan but it seemed to be one of nature's silent gifts. Ryan takes time to individually evaluate me before each session. He targets muscles and tissue that is causing restrictions in my movement and flexibility.
