This massage room made me think I was on an upscale vacation without the upscale prices. TECHNIQUE: Bassil is not just a masseuse, but an artist. It was a week before I would be leaving for my 2wk trip to Italy, & boy what a STRESSFUL week it was! Dealing with flights, packing & preparing for our first European trip had completely taken over my world and had made me more tense than I'd ever been. I knew I needed some pre-relaxing before such a vacation, so I contacted "my masseuse guy" to see if he had any availability in the next 2 days (yes, I was taking a chance by booking last minute). He knows I prefer a late-in-the-day appointment, & he responded quickly, as he typically does. TG he had something for me!!! My awesome hubby & MIL know how much I adore these me-time-moments & have gifted me both 60 & 90min massages. Since I hardly ever have time to book myself any pampering appointments, I typically hold on to my gift certificates. I've actually been known to hold on to them for over a year, which was the case in this instance. I let Bassil know I would be using my 90min certificate my hubby had gifted me for Xmas in 2017!!! I also still had a 60min my MIL had given me this year for my Bday. Last year was the first time she gifted one to me & I remember using it for a 90min, paying Bassil for the difference. 60min is good, but Mama NEEDS her a 90min!!! I just have too many knots in my neck & shoulder area that even a 90min doesn't get them all out. But it sure does help. Perhaps if I didn't wait so long between massages, those knots wouldn't get so out of hand? Oh well, like I said, I find it hard to schedule any me-time stuff. So his normal pricing for a 90min is $100. Think that's pricey? Believe me, it's WELL worth it! Located inside the Perceptions Aesthetic Spa building, Bassil is always ready & waiting upon my arrival. His voice & demeanor is always so calming, perfect preparation for the coming service! He walks me straight to the room, where everything is ready to go for me, and before leaving for a few moments to allow me to get ready, he asks what areas I'd like him to concentrate on....always the neck & shoulders!! In the clean room, you'll find a massage table with bedding/warm sheets, a comfy couch for placing personal items on, along with a rack on the wall above it for coats/purses which also contains hairbands if needed. A desk/table has a candle or two, along with a dish to place jewelry on and a nice glass of complimentary water. The room has a soft, warm glow to it, with lovely meditative music playing in the background.....ahhhh, a sigh of relief escapes me. I typically strip down to my chonis, bra off, to give him the best access to these super knotted-up shoulders. I know some people/women may feel uneasy about this, but I've NEVER felt that way with Bassil, as he's totally respectful & folds the bedding sheets over me in a way that never exposes me! Rest assured ladies, he will do no wrong. When I'm basically undressed, I quickly get on the massage table under the sheet (which feels warm like flannel) faced down. I put my face in the massage pillow & begin my deep breathing to prepare my body to relax. A few minutes later, Bassil will knock at the door to make sure I'm ready for my service. At this point, I don't see anything but his feet walking around the table. He'll then use oils/lotions on me to begin the massage and ask how much pressure to use. Since I know all the work that needs to be done on my shoulders, I typically tell him a medium pressure is good.....no light-weight willy-nilly hands on me, no sir! I made the mistake in the past to tell him hard pressure & THAT was a bit much for me. Lesson learned. But he always reminds me that I can tell him at any point whether to do more or less pressure. I've come to him enough to know, medium pressure is PERFECT for me! That's when the magic begins. Seriously, I tell him he's the man with magic hands! He totally knows where my knots are & works on them, big time! Sometimes it hurts, but no pain no gain. Just gotta breathe thru it cuz I need those knots out!!! Also, breathing is VERY important to the process! It not only helps get thru those rough massage moments, but it helps with relaxing the muscles. Something I learned the very first time I came to Bassil. Even though he concentrates on the problem areas, he still doesn't neglect the whole body. He does the arms, hands & fingers, head/skull, legs, feet & toes, even the buttocks people!!! Yes, even those musskles need some attention & I didn't even know it till he massaged them! Partway through, he has me flip over to face up, all while still keeping the sheet over me. He maneuvers the leg pillow under my knees and continues the full body massage. Once he's done, he thanks me then quietly leaves the room. Every time this point comes around, I always think, "Has it already been 90 minutes?" It seems like it goes by so fast! Had a great massage from Bassil. He was very in tune with what my body needed. Before going in my neck was hurting really bad and I couldn't turn it all the way to the left. Bassil was assertive and checked in with me on the pressure and it was always perfect. He listened to me of the areas I said were bothering me and gave everything the attention it needed. I really appreciate that he listened to me, many times before I would get massages and I would let the masseuse know what area was bothering me and they would acknowledge but it seemed I would always get their pre-canned massage. I was recently feeling tense and tight in my trigger areas and knew that I needed a deep massage to relax me and work out those areas so that I could feel better and move more freely. My head and neck were experiencing a lack of ability to rotate left as far as usual. My regular massage partner has been MIA for the past few months and my back up individual had an injury and cancelled last minute. Thus, I searched the YELP universe to see about a local person who I might try based on the raves of locals. I contacted Bassil and was pleasantly surprised of his calming demeanor and excellent customer service when scheduling the service. I booked a 90-minute massage. I arrived at the site and he was patiently waiting for me near the door. I quickly filled out the required form and was taken back to the treatment room. The room was dimly lit and the colors/texture/layers of the space were very warm and comforting. He provided instructions and left the room. I noticed when I crawled onto the table that the table itself was very cushiony and the linens were incredibly soft. I felt as though I was lying in a soft fluffy cloud. It was very, very relaxing. The music playing was at a nice volume and was nature sounds. Then the massage started. I was surprised, being a veteran of massages to be surprised. The most important aspect of bodywork, in my opinion, is intent. And the intent felt on the receiving side of the treatment was a blessing for relaxation and wellbeing. I felt this through the entire service. There were also great techniques utilized and some strokes that I have never seem before but that felt great. He spent a lot of time focused on the areas where I hold stress and was able to "unwind" the knots and free up the muscles. He spoke just a little, which I enjoy. Just checked in regarding pressure. Overall, the atmosphere, the communication, and the massage itself were all 5 stars. At the end of the service he provided me a complimentary copy of the music that was playing and wished me well. I went home and hydrated, soaked and rested. I woke up the next morning and felt my body adjust and it was looser, and I had a great range of motion in my neck again. So I am no massage connoisseur, but let me tell you this man is amazing! I do have massages frequently but they are very short in length and more on the fix my issue type regime. I walked in and the office is clean and cute not too far from sunrise. Ladies are all super cute and friendly at the front desk. You fill out some paperwork and then he will call you in the back. The room is like an oasis of some sort! It's super relaxing and has a nice theme to it. It's very dark and there's a nice glass of water in a wine glass waiting for you! He lets you get undressed and then comes back in! It's really interesting because he has like a dual approach and I'm not used to it and I LOVED IT. He does a relaxing massage at the same time as working out the kinks. I didn't even think that's possible, but it is. Usually it's like one or the other, but he was both!! I chose the medium to form pressure because my upper back is my stress point and I wanted him to relieve me and I felt so much better walking out than walking in.. The best thing about him is he isn't a talker, like at all. All he asks u about is the pressure periodically but doesn't make conversation when you're trying to relax, because let's be honest, it's pretty annoying when they're constantly speaking and you're just trying to relax!
