They dilated my 6yrs eyes and then left us in a room for 40 minutes giving her enough time to work herself in a frenzy of fear. Then they got impatient with her for her anxiety attack. By the time we left she was in full panic attack. Then we get to our appt for her glasses. The day of radio silence so we thought all was well.... wrong... apparently they tried to call me multiple times. They had my phone number wrong, buy didnt even try to call dad. They then sent an email a hour before our appt as we were on the road to the appt to inform us the glasses weren't in. They gave such attitude when we got in like why did I give them the wrong number... I didn't... they did that to themselves. Plus they also had dads number. They also had all day to send an email and not RIGHT before the appt. Definitely will be will looking for an alternative pediatric optometrist. Do not take your children here. We ended up getting recheck at the Grandville office and they were so kind and amazed at how bad the Holland office messed up my daughter's prescription.

I called ahead of time to ask about these and was assured that staff would mask if requested. I have been back there at least 6 times and each time, had to remind a member of the staff to mask. Once, the response was, "Oh, now I have to go find a mask!" Dr. Tomaselli even once had to be reminded. I saw numerous patients masking and I know from experience, people are shy about asking someone to mask. It seemed as if I was the only one for whom they masked. I feel that if you are treating someone who is masking or at any rate, getting within inches of someone's face, it might be a good practice for all staff to mask. During my cataract procedure, a nurse named Mary Beth had a mask hanging off her nose, not attached in the back, so her mouth was virtually not covered the entire time. In the surgical center. Aside from the masking, there is the issue of impersonal treatment. Not once was I asked about myself or did the doctor spend more than five minutes with me. However, the wait was always at least an hour overall to get in and out of the offices. Not thrilled with the service whatsoever. Staff seemed overworked and unfriendly. The only conversation I heard was complaining about scheduling. I was very surprised that there was no online interaction with the office - for appointments, instructions or anything. Like any other medical facility in 2023! Nothing. I was given papers while sedated to explain procedures and had to call numerous times to make sure appointments were in the correct facility. Overall, not a very professional or satisfactory experience.

Great people and a very thorough exam…read more Eye doctors I've seen in Holland left me waiting in the exam room then raced in and raced out again. Dr. Annis took his time and made sure any questions I had were answered. I have no reason to go anywhere else.

Dr. Annis is truly a good optometrist. However, if you want frames and lenses, the "optician" isn't…read morethe best - if she really is one. She's no expert on how to assess what frames are best for you and the selection is limited. If they don't have the color you want, she shows you what they can order from her I-pad. They had a style that I thought I wanted. I was wrong on that. Also, the only color (of 3) available on the rack had really dark frames - they were navy. Later, I found out that all three of the colors available had really dark frames. I couldn't tell by looking at a partial view on her I-pad. Furthermore, she informed me that the plastic frames I liked would fit my large (broken from falling on it in childhood) or wide bridge. Well, they didn't. My bad, had I known. I found plastic frames at Walmart that actually DID fit my wide bridge. Either way, I was wrong about the plastic - I had metal for YEARS; put off getting new glasses far too long, and like a babe in the woods I didn't really know what would work. I have them and realized eye pads would be better. However, when I went back and found the exact frames that I wanted (again, not the color I wanted - I had to see the color I wanted on the little I-pad in a close-up partial view) I was quite pleased; I picked these out myself, ignoring her selections. The color they did have in stock was a metal frame and vivid enough for me to know that any color, shape, and size would be fine in that frame and also much more comfortable. I told her I was sure on those (since I picked them out myself, knowing this second time how much her "expertise" was lacking). Then, she told me, "fine, but you'll have to wait until this color frame arrives here before WE can put lenses into them." I told her that I was sure that they would work and to go ahead with the lenses. She refused and said, "Oh, no" I'd have to see the color first and then wait another week (two weeks total). After all, it was my fault that the color wasn't there (supposed to be some rose swirl color - no matter - all 3 colors had the same DARK frames) and that they were the wrong size for my wide nose. Of course, she reminded me that I was the one who wanted plastic frames. OK, sure, I thought I did and I was wrong. Who is he "expert" here? For the $$ I was laying down, I'd expect an expert. Finally, knowing how inexperienced she truly was, I just told them to give me a refund. I found out that the whole package was over $400. Wow, I'm glad I got the refund! She NEVER did quote any prices to me on any of the available frames. A month later, I still don't have new frames as I have to go out of town to find reasonably priced ones; my time is limited. The doctor is great - a thorough exam was done and i was happy with that, for sure. He also sent me a letter of apology. However, if he wants to sell glasses, he needs to pay up for a real optometrist who knows how to advise a client in the right manner. She was young, curt and pretty clueless and I'm being nice. Also, in order to choose from a variety of frames, They should have better pictures available for colors. The ones I chose ALL had frames that apparently, looked black, aside from the one that they had on display - the sides were right but I couldn't tell by looking at the I-Pad (guess I mentioned that before). Someday, I'll get to "Eyeglass World."

Doctor Rebecca Jacquemin took me back to the exam room, asked what I do for work, what kind of strain I put on my eyes, all the usual exam questions. ( She also took an x-ray of the inside of my eye, and found out I have a freckle on my retina, thought that was interesting! ) Then came the shopping, and trying on pairs of glasses with the help of Linda Cope. All that they did was offer a plastic sunglass-type covering to reduce the light. That really didn't address the type of pain I was having. The pain continued over the weekend. Rather than help, the office manager who I talked to dismissed my concerns by saying that she had never heard such a reaction in all her years there. I was able to request a follow-up appointment, but that won't be until next week. Apparently they are very busy. I cannot in good conscience recommend this practice.

An assistant asked if there were any changes in my medications. I told her of a new prescription my primary care physician had given 8 months before. When Dr. Cassar came into the room, he basically lambasted me for nearly 5 minutes, telling me that I was not taking care of myself, and that he was my doctor, and he had a responsibility to tell me I was going to lose my eyesight. But then, after he did his own scans of my eyes, he told me they were nearly perfectly healthy, and that there was nothing to worry about at all. But no apologies for his earlier tirade. He said I needed a new eyeglass prescription, so I put down over $1000 to get the glasses made. This morning I was called by someone from the office and told that my glasses were ready, and I could pick them up any time. I said that I would be there soon. I drove out to the Complete Eye Health office, only to find the door locked. All the people who worked there, including Dr. Cassar, were sitting right there in the waiting area. I stood at the door for a moment, wondering what to do. Then Dr. Cassar's wife came to the door and unlocked it. But she would not let me in, and she did not ask why I was there. She said that they were having an office meeting, and that I should come back in an hour and 10 minutes or so. Then she pulled the door shut and locked it. I will go back sometime to get my glasses (after all, I have paid over a thousand dollars for them!). But not today. And we are likely to find another optometrist who treats us as if we are actually worth being part of the practice.
