Our experience started in June of 2024 when after 2-years of renting trucks from Penske we thought…read moreit would be in our best interest to purchase one. We rent trucks and require a semi-about 4x per month. Here is a vehicle price breakdown for factual affect; The total price=$53,299 (taxes, fees, etc); we gave a deposit of $11,000-$500 (Title fee); which means our principal payment from the lender (we thought was Premier) would be $41,799. And on the BOS from Penske this is the price breakdown. But the contract changed when Penske got LEAF involved without our knowledge or consent. Now LEAF is stating that our contract buyout would be $51,330.72 (because we have made 4 payments.) These are the facts every buyer should be aware of and concerned by. How we got here is outlined below and for those of you say their idiots, or this is your fault-I hear you. This entire scenario has tested me and my husband beyond measure, and we should have walked away after being transferred to 4 people all working for the same company, but we really needed this truck. Now I am just hoping to stop some entrepreneur or excited business owner from ever working with or financing with Penske, Premier Financing or LEAF Capital. From June 20, 2024-July 15th, 2024; we were under the assumption that the financing for the vehicle would be thru Premier Financing who holds the vehicle certificate. This was the entity that requested all our bank documents, insurance information and all the applicable statements needed to finance a truck. We even signed the Vehicle BOS #079612....... on July 10th, 2024. Then for some unrequested reason and without explanation we received an email from LEAF on July 16th, 2024. We did not choose LEAF capital; in fact, we were never consulted or informed there would be a transfer so we (apparently like idiots) assumed the Vehicle BOS from Penske would carry thru to LEAF. LEAF does not have a prepayment penalty clause in their contract, but they do state in section 2 under Payments that the 'Borrower may not prepay any portion of this Agreement. None of this was ever explained to us by anyone at Premier Financing or at LEAF. We signed the BOS and agreement with Premier Financing on 07/10/2024 that has no conditions about a prepayment penalty but now LEAF is saying even if you want to pay if off early you will be subject to the interest of the additional 54-months.

I overheard another customer who was just as upset as I was about the situation. What was especially disappointing is that it appears there was time to notify residents and guests that the elevator was not working, yet no signs were posted. We saw a man arrive to repair the elevator, and the manager personally walked him in, which made it clear there was awareness of the issue before we were informed. Despite this, there was still no advance notice given to those of us already arriving and preparing to use the elevator. We were already loaded with several items when we were finally told the elevator was not working, and we had to unload everything again. This was very inconvenient and frustrating, especially given that it could have been easily avoided with proper communication and signage. I also observed a young woman who had brought in a large amount of furniture on a cart. She was small in stature and clearly struggled with it. After being informed of the elevator situation, she had to put everything back, which seemed unnecessary and preventable if proper notice had been given. It was difficult to watch her become so overwhelmed by something that could have been avoided with better planning and communication. Overall, I felt the situation was poorly handled. In my view, clearer communication and simple signage would have prevented a great deal of frustration for residents, guests, and staff alike. It was disappointing to experience this level of disorganization.

I had reserved a U-Haul truck at this location a few weeks in advance. In the past, we've had at…read moreleast one instance of making a reservation and not having a truck (not with this location, to be clear). So, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. We arrived just after they opened at 7 a.m. When you enter the plaza, the main feature is a large self-storage facility. There are a lot of U-Haul trucks parked out front. The actual business office where you handle the rentals is in the building to the right of the storage warehouse. It isn't that well-marked. They had 2 lines for rentals, so the wait was relatively short. I was able to get done with the checks and explanations within about 15 minutes of arriving. The truck was as-advertised and in relatively good shape. It drove well. There was some broken glass remnants we noted on the floor, but that wasn't super surprising. It worked out well during the 6 hours we had it and handled the move adequately. There was a gas station not to far to the east on Baseline where I filled up afterwards. I think there are other stations close by, but it would be good to scope that out in advance. The return process was fairly convenient. I first went back into the rental office and got in line. Then some guy from outside came in and asked if anyone was just returning. Apparently, you should wait with the truck, but no one had mentioned that and there were no signs to that effect. The return guy was efficient. He inspected the truck for any damage (there wasn't any) and used his tire-beating stick to check whether they were going flat (I guess; it was interesting). The only mildly unpleasant surprise was about the blankets (for protecting the furniture / goods). He said that there was a $10 re-folding charge if I didn't want to re-fold them myself. No one had mentioned that (though later my daughter said she had read it on a sign on the truck's dashboard; since I'd been driving, I had not seen that). At that point, given that it was literally over 115 degrees F outside and the only place I could re-fold them would have been inside the truck, I made the decision that it might be the best $10 I'd spend that week. This isn't a big deal, but it would be nice to be aware of it in advance. My total bill for a 20-foot truck for 6 hours was just under $100. I felt that was pretty reasonable. If I lived in the area and needed a rental truck for a day, I'd definitely return here.

It's too hot to have to come down to the store and talk to a rude guy. The GM doesn't respond to phone calls and his number is posted by the front door. I have seen roaches in the walk ways of the storage building. I used to like U-Haul back in the day but now they are proving me wrong every time I visit my unit.
