Wise Choice uses a platform for selecting materials and so forth that was great in theory, rather questionable in practice, and our wires got crossed more than a few times. The time issue was simply that the projects took a bit longer than we'd planned. The time problem though was at least partly our fault (changing our minds about design, etc), and that was compounded by suppliers actually sending the wrong product on occasion, so certainly not all a Wise Choice issue. Other than that, they were great to work with, very pleasant people all around, very conscientious (cleaning up work spaces thoroughly every day), and the entire project came in under budget! We first learned about Wise Choice through Yelp, and although we were initially nervous about choosing a contractor for such a large job (they gave us the best estimate, by far!) without a personal recommendation, we couldn't be happier with our decision. They were great to work with throughout the entire process, from architectural and engineering plans, permitting, and the actual construction. The project manager, Sergiy, and foreman, Bogdan, were very honest, helpful, and responsive every step of the way. The project was completed pretty much on budget (with only a couple of unforeseen issues outside of their control) and on time. The Rheem estimate from the big box store was ridiculous; the teaser price went up by 50% once they actually itemized the install. Emerald City's came in comparable to our usual plumber, but with the added benefit of getting another Rheem instead of a different brand and adding an automatic shut-off in case of leaks. Emerald City partners with McClendon Home Services for the water heater installs. Jesse and Aaron were on time and professional. Jesse checked our meter at the street and explained why we didn't need an expansion tank and, in fact, why having one could unnecessarily increase our water bill. We now have a 10-year parts-and-labor warranty and peace of mind. We also got an estimate for windows, but unfortunately Emerald City doesn't currently provide exterior painting services. We still might loop back with them in the future for first-floor windows where we could paint the trim ourselves. Overall, we're happy with the communication, customer service, and value.

They look nice and the low-E panes on the south side of the house made a huge difference this summer. The estimate was two weeks for the job, and then did finish on time. On the negative side, they didn't do a good job cleaning up afterwards. Besides the trash left in the yard, I picked up around 3 dozen (I started counting after the first handful) screws and nails from the driveway. They keep showing up because they left so many in the yard. We've had two flat tires (although it is hard to directly state it is from the window install, it is likely). I also found one screen that didn't fit right. I reached out to the project managers about the issues but never heard back. Watching them install the windows, I suspect they will hold up well this winter when it rains, but won't know for sure until a full season has passed.

We had Braden as a project manager from 3 Brothers and Haley as the sales contact. We had a…read morereasonable quote for a deck with Timber Azek plank material, metal and cable railing, water proof under deck, and cedar slat under deck ceiling with canless lights. We increased the dimensions of the deck before the project started, and they were very good about accommodating the changes and the price. The waterproof deck was completed by cutting the joists and a slope and installing plywood with torchdown roof sheet on the plywood that slopes to holes running into a gutter, then placing cut angled joists back on top of the plywood and leveling it for the planks. It seems like a pretty robust waterproofing system, and they did a pretty good job with it. The overall deck was completed pretty well and good job site clean up and siding replacement. There were just some small detail issues with the job, including some loose planks and a big gap in the middle of the deck (greater than 0.75 inches when cold). There is supposed to be a gap for thermal expansion and contraction, but we were left with a pretty huge gap for part of it and the plank was on the very edge of one of the joists. We also had one of our planter boxes damaged by a truck that completed the job, which we were told would be replaced. There were also some other final questions of things around the job, for example we had a french drain maintenance inlet pipe opening and it is missing after installing some of the concrete foundation for a couple posts. I'm hoping that the french drain system that some of of the posts are over were not damaged, so I will need to watch out for that. They kind of ghosted us after the job and never addressed the final issues despite multiple attempts to contact them, leaving a voicemail and message communication on their builder site. But, they also didn't collect the final invoice payment, so I'm assuming it is the unspoken discount for all the issues. Overall, I'm still pretty happy with the deck, but will have to independently troubleshoot and fix some issues when I get around to it. From other reviews, it seems like other people had a better more complete experience.
