We had a good dinner in this small neighborhood restaurant. Four adults and we got a fried oyster pancake as appetizer, a boat noodle, shrimp red curry and tofu pineapple fried rice. We also thought we ordered a drunken noodle but either we didn't speak clearly or the server didn't hear us but either way, it worked out ok because we were stuffed with the 4 things we got! The oyster pancake was thin and had a bit chewy dough with fried egg on top of bean sprouts. The sweet spicy sauce was great. The red curry came with 7 large shrimps and rice. It wasn't too spicy so I'd go with green curry if you want more kick. The pineapple fried rice was light and yummy with cashews, pineapples, and more veggies. I love the fried tofu in Thai fried rice. The best for me was the boat noodle. It's got pho noodles and has some meat balls and we got the pork version with lots of pieces of meat. Was in the area so decided to pick up some Thai food. Searched on Yelp and this came up with very high ratings so I decided to give it a try! Ordered 3 lunch specials: - Chicken Pad Thai - Beef drunken Noodles - pork pad ka praw (stir fried string beans, basil and meat) Both noodles were pretty yummy! With the lunch specials, they came with an app, which I had ordered: fried wontons, spring rolls and Tom yum soup. The spring roll and soup was good and I would get again. The wontons I would pass on - nothing great about it, so not worth the calories. The pad ka praw was different as I'm used it be being minced meat, but this one was big chunks of meat. They have the best Thai food I have ever had. Very pleasant and calm place. It's a nook in the corner. Every person is welcoming and sweet. I really love them feels like home. I tried almost every dish on their menu other than beef and pork. From entrees like scallion pancake, chicken wings, spring rolls and chicken satay everything is great. I really like spicy basil fried rice and Thai style fried rice options vary with meats you choose. I love love drunken noodles which is spicy and great. All the Thai curries are amazing. This place is situated in a residential neighborhood in Bridgeport. As such, the atmosphere is less than ideal and parking option is only street side. However, the owners have done an amazing job of making it a fun, colorful, and inviting space. The Tom Yum is quite good. Many Thai places overpower the Tom yum with dry spices that make the broth gritty. This is not the case here. Papaya salad is not overpowered with spice and fish sauce. It's fresh tasting and papaya remains crisp. Beef salad was satisfying. The meat was not too tough often associated with this dish. There was no "jerky" texture. The green curry was on point and very spicy. One of the better green curry dishes in Fairfield County. read more

The food here is absolutely delicious! We were visiting friends and we literally ate here 3 out of 4 days. Crazy, huh? If you order your food "Thai style" you get more spices and heat. To the regular North American palate, it might be too intense, but find yourself and your preferences accordingly. Look out for the chilli symbols and don't complain if it's too hot. Know your own tolerance level! We loved it! The tom yum noodles are NOTHING like the typical broth. This soup was just bursting with flavours. Sweet, spicy, tangy, savoury... Minced pork, bits of crunchy fried pork, meatballs, fried wontons and of course rice noodles with some bean sprouts. Fan-freaking-tastic. You sweat while eating this because it's temperature hot with a spicy flavour but you honestly can't stop eating it. We tried the boat noodles, drunken noodles, fried rice, pad ka prow, larb, soft shelled crab with mango salad, mussels omelette, pad thai, and a vermicelli dish with shrimp but I can't recall the name. The picture is on the fridge so you can find out there. We polished off each and every dish. The prices are totally reasonable for what you get. I'm from Canada and even with the crummy exchange rate at this time, we felt it was well worth it. It's nice to be able to support a local, family owned business. I wish them success as they truly deserve it. Don't forget to check out all the accolades they've received in the Connecticut area! This has got to be the cutest little place in all of Bridgeport! The colors are bright and cheerful and the woman at the counter greeted me with a big smile. I hadn't even heard of Ruuthai's, but I saw it in the program at the Klein Memorial and thought I'd give it a try. I ordered on GrubHub, but went to pick it up to stave off a case of cabin fever. I got two orders of shrimp pad thai and a salad. Two-go dishes can sometimes be skimpy, but the serving of pad thai was quite generous with plenty of noodles, chopped peanuts, and sprouts. They also packed four shrimp in each dish. The salad was the usual offering at a thai restaurant (lettuce, tomato, cucumber, carrot), but the dressing was a real treat. Usually the peanut dressing can be a bit thick, but Ruuthai's version is a touch lighter and a much better match for a salad. I love that Ruuthai's seems really authentic. All of the food seems to be on point and the setting isn't too fussy. Along with the seating, there is a wall of coolers with to-go items and, apparently, storage. It reminded me of the kind of place we used to seek out when I lived in Boston and each week we'd try a different ethnic restaurant. I am thrilled that we have a bit of that authenticity right here in Bridgeport. read more

Great Tom Yung soup. Had drunken noodles with pork and some of my daughter's Kow Soi.......both the best Thai I've had in CT. Nobody comes closes to the high spice level I like except several Indian restaurants I frequent, but Ruuthai's came the closest. Waitperson was great. My favorite Thai food in the area. I lived in Queens for 4 years and was very spoiled with all the Thai restaurants there. I moved to Fairfield and have not found anything comparable until Ruuithai. My all time favorite is the Boat Noodles. You will not find this on the menu at any other Thai restaurants in Fairfield County. Very friendly staff and their prices are very reasonable for the quality and flavors of their dishes. The area is ehhh. It has gotten to the point where the term "Hole in the wall" is a compliment and they definitely earned that label! Me and my co-workers make the trek here weekly from Stratford for lunch. All your usually dishes you find and I am a big fan of the Drunken noodles. They will spice it to your liking from my friend who rates it based on how hot the chef will eat it to my other friend who asks for it "white boy hot" which is not hot at all. I have also stopped in for take out, it's a quaint little spot, not in the best neighborhood, but not in the worst either--- like someone else said, it does resemble little Asia on Wood Ave. I usually get the Chicken Pad Thai, Drunken noodles, Summer Rolls, coconut-curry chicken soup or Papaya salad. All have been great, especially because they make dishes spicy--- just like Thailand. Its not bland or Americanized like I've had it in other places. The level of customer service is top knotch! I dont know the owners name but he is soooo nice. I believe its in his nature. He's very happy to explain the dishes they serve and is very pleasant. He has a way of making you feel at home in his restaraunt. You can tell he wants to help you enjoy his culture's food and is happy to explain ingredients and/or the many dishes they serve. The inside of the restaraunt is spacious enough for the space. I can't believe my boyfriend was able to find an authentic Thai place within maybe 5-10mins from us. So far me and my boyfriend has tried the yellow curry ( the best yellow curry ever. It has fresh pineapples and the curry flavor is ohhh my goodness out of this world. I drunk every last bit out of that lunch special bowl. The portions were really good for a lunch special, we definitely were satisfied). Drunken noodles (his favorite Thai dish. We loved this dish as well, which also was a lunch special that had a great portion sized). Tom Kar Kai soup (which was amazingly delicious. This dish transported us, I would love to have a big bowl of this.). We decided to keep our proteins the same for dinner, which was chicken. We didn't want to mix the proteins, I wanted to try the som tum (spicy papya Thai salad. I have been wanting to try this dish ever since I seen a YouTuber made this. I did ask for it spicy as I didn't think it would be as spicy as the little cute dish they have there spicy seasonings in. My GOD why did I get spicy it was so hot it made EVERYTHING I ate spicy. I am not complaining bc I asked for spicy but WARNING if you get spicy it will be spicy. It was a different dish I never had, but I enjoyed it and would reorder. Definitely mild level spice next time, but this should be a must try). I also tried there pad Thai (chicken). I must say with this dish it was saucy which I loved. I did go pick it up fresh and it came out after maybe 1-2 mins after my arrival (not complaining at all. I am saying that to explain every where else I order pad Thai from to go it usually is dry bc all of the sauce absorbed in the noodles. I am Not sure if it's bc they don't use as much sauce or maybe bc it was too long before reaching my destination. However this pad Thai dish was very saucy and stayed saucey for a while. Let me also mentioned my boyfriend tried the rutthais noodle dish! (Omg! It was soooooo good. I know I am saying that about everything but its true. The portions are excellent. It's a lot for dinner portions (not complaining but just stating this is perfect for LEFTOVERS .) Lunch special portions are perfectly enough to be full and satisfied. They also include one app and an entree. If you are looking for leftovers then try dinner portions so you can have leftovers for dinner or next day lunch. I am glad I convinced my boyfriend without being direct to try a new dish and not play it safe with his favorite. Eventhough I chose pad Thai. However I wanted to try theirs. We definitely will be frequent customers and am so glad my boyfriend has put this on our radar. I also had a Thai iced bubble tea which was delicious as well. The only complaint is, if this is even a complaint I wish there were different sizes of the Thai tea (beverages. It maybe different sizes available I actually have not asked). I love it and would love a larger cup. I plan to try the other flavors of their bubble tea. Prices are definitely affordable, reasonable, and perfect no complaints in that area at all! I went for takeout shortly after Ruuthai opened and I was disappointed, but I'm glad I came back! My friend and I ordered Pad Thai, Massaman curry and the summer rolls last night. The summer rolls were super fresh. The Massaman curry was rich and delicate, though I would have liked fewer potatoes and more other veggies. And the Pad Thai was good -- not greasy. Best of all, this place is just adorable! I love the brightly painted walls. Given the real lack of Thai options, I'm really glad to know this is here. I'll be back soon! read more

I went to Ruuthai's Kitchen last night with some friends. It was our first time visiting, and the location looks like a hole in the wall restaurant in a residential area. We arrived around 7:50pm, and we were sat quickly. It did take about 15 minutes for our order to be taken. After we ordered, it took a long time to get our food. One person's food was brought out, and then it took another 10 minutes to bring everyone else's food out. The food was hot, and everything tasted delicious. I ordered the masaman curry. It was a little spicier than I was expecting, but I really enjoyed it. The food was delicious but the service was not great, which is why I only gave it three stars. Tried Ruuthai's for the first time last week. Ordered online and got delivery, which went smoothly but I ordered Pad Thai mild (there was no not spicy at all option) and it was so incredibly spicy that no one could eat it. Even my husband who loves spicy food couldn't handle the heat level. When it's that overpowering, how can you enjoy the food? Also, I order pork pineapple fried rice and got chicken pineapple fried rice. It tasted alright but wasn't what I wanted. We are excited to have found this place. It's by far the best Thai food around here -- authentic, fresh and flavorful. Everyone at Ruuthai's is super friendly, the atmosphere is cute and colorful ... and you can't beat the prices. They just opened 3 months ago on a corner in a mostly residential neighborhood. Most of their business seems to be take-out, but we brought our own beer and sat at one of the four tables. They also have a counter with stools, so altogether they can seat about 16, with room to squeeze in another table or two if they want to. We started with the Tom Yum Goong (lemongrass soup with shrimp and vegetables). It was yummy and VERY spicy. The green papaya salad was excellent, large and quite filling with lots of peanuts and even a few little dried shrimps. We had two stir-fries (Pad Ka Praw with chicken and Pad Nam Prik Phao with shrimp) -- both were very good. The total bill for 2 soups, 1 salad, 2 entrees and 1 dessert was $36. They had just finished making fresh batches of some tapioca-based desserts and they were offering tastes to everyone who came in. Clearly they are very proud of their sweets. They also had banana pudding and a few other "grab and go " items in large refrigerators in the front. The bathroom is through the kitchen, so I got a sneak peek on my way to the loo, and I was pleased to see they keep everything very clean. The young woman who served us said they plan to expand their menu to include American food, which I think might not be such a good idea. She said her brother-in-law studied at the Culinary Institute of New York and has 25 years of experience as a chef, so it will be high quality American food. I would come back here for sure! The sampler platter was insanely good. To get to the bathroom you have to walk through the kitchen (odd) but you can peek at what they're cooking (cool). I didn't freak out over the food. Aside from the sampler platter everything was fine. The Thai iced tea and Thai iced coffee my boyfriend and I got were cloyingly syrup-sweet and hard to finish even for a beverage obsessed person like myself. The sampler platter was worth five stars alone, the satay was so flavorful and the meat tender, great peanut sauce, the small samosa-like pouches looked dry from the outside, but they were actually filled with saucy, spiced vegetables. They were our favorite things on the platter. Other the than that the Tom khar soup I had with the lunch special was fine and the curry I had was also fine. Not particularly spicy (maybe I should have asked) or bursting with fresh Thai flavors of chili, kaffir lime leaf, fish sauce, Thai basil, etc. We weren't wowed (except by that sampler platter - yowza!) but the friendly service and cute interior made up for it. So I have to start this off by saying I've been to Thailand and this place brought me right back to that beautiful country and it's delicious food. The boat noodles were authentic and had blood in it. Sweet and delicious and the noodles were spot on. The second time I went I had the larb and a side of sticky rice. Well balanced.
