Speed rather than good job seems to be the primary goal. This last time, they claimed a glitch in updating their computers, and apparently mis-scheduled several customers including me, saying they would be here at 9:00, then saying oops, it'll be noon or later. When I protested (because I got up 3 hours earlier than I had to to be ready for them), they sent the usual team at 9;30 (even tho I hadn't asked for that), but the gals showed up with petulant attitude (audible sighs) and sloppy work (there was still dust on the floor, the master bathroom mirror wasn't cleaned, etc). English Maids could have offered a discount - IF THEY HAD CARED ABOUT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION - but they chose to handle it this way, which was worse. That was just the last straw. I understand that it may be hard to keep staff today, but still. If you're going to hire someone to work in your home, you have every right to think they will do the best job possible, and leave your home better than they found it. That doesn't happen with English Maids. I'm a senior but I'll be cleaning my home myself going forward. That's better than wondering each month whether I'll be happy with the job they've done or not.

I wanted it to look good for my husband returning from a long trip. But was totally overwhelmed. Julie made it so easy to communicate and pay. They worked magic on a carpet that I had neglected and mistreated with animals, a social life, and an unpredictable and embarrassing cleaning schedule. I'll post before and after shots later, but please just take my word for it, their work is fast, efficient, and absolutely worth the (very fair) price. Would absolutely use their services in the future. Thank you.

We used this company ~3 years ago and they did a very good job. However, we recommended them to our…read morelatest tenants and they simply didn't show up today. Didn't respond to messages, texts, or calls and their voicemail was full. Which, of course, means that we now have to scramble to find a service at the last minute -- right before a holiday weekend -- before a new family was scheduled to move in. The snowball effect on everyone is quite impactful and costly. We just wish they could have had the courtesy to answer the phone or say they weren't coming, so we would've had an opportunity to find a replacement. But now, three sets of people are inconvenienced without as much as a text or "Sorry."

Thankfully my husband hired Sweep Dreams to clean the house for me. They paid attention to small details which I appreciated because I tend to be OCD about certain things. After we started to move in, we found the kitchen cabinets and drawers were not cleaned out and dishes from the previous owner were still in some of them. The dust and cobwebs on the walls and ceiling were a specific item I requested to be cleaned and they were not touched. The bathroom showers still had not been cleaned. The carpets were supposed to be steam cleaned but the small machine they used did no good. They didn't even vacuum up after using the steam cleaner. I'm extremely disappointed with the work they did and cannot recommend them to anyone. Rating would be 0 stars but it won't let me do 0.

He said it was just soot and someone from the office would contact me to reschedule because he would not be returning. After waiting all afternoon, I texted a 2nd number the company had contacted me from and said I had safety concerns about our fireplace not being clean, but I received no response. I sent another text next day with no response. I contacted them several times through our Yelp messaging over the next couple of days, stating safety concerns and not being able to use the fireplace until we spoke with them, contacted them through their website form, and also left two courteous voicemail messages for their office letting them know we had safety concerns and asked for assistance. I had zero response to all of my efforts. I emailed and let them know I would be filing a complaint with the BBB and still received no response. I hired another company to come clean the fireplace and not only did he clean out a massive amount of soot and creosote left behind, he was stunned to find that the prior serviceman left his plastic brush and pole stuck up in the chimney. He gave it to me and I identified it as the brush the 1st Choice serviceman was using, as it was distinctive and particularly flimsy, which I noticed at the beginning of the clean. Things happen and if he had explained that his pole broke off and that he would have to come back with tools to get it out and finish cleaning, we could have moved forward. The basis for liability under negligence stems from an individual's failures to behave with the level of care that someone of ordinary prudence would have exercised under the same circumstances. He knowingly put our home and our personal safety at risk with a smoke and fire hazard, and that is egregious. It took months to settle our claim with our credit card company and get our money back. I've had time to consider my review and to post the facts without heightened emotion. Not cleaning the fireplace well and not returning calls for assistance is enough for a bad review but purposeful negligence is grounds for not being allowed to do business in this industry. The business office of this company has no excuse for failure to respond.
