I'll tell you what - we only got one item from Rusty's Wharf, but it was the best order of hush puppies I have ever had! This single prompted us to schedule dinner here tomorrow night - so stay tuned for an updated review and photos! We were out taking Gandalf for a jeep ride out in the area of the restaurant. I wanted a quick snack and have longed to stop here for a long time. Luckily the drive through window was open and the take out was available. I gave them a quick call since the sign on the door said closed and our hush puppies were ready in a matter of minutes. You get 12 good sized puppies for $2.50! They were nice and sweet, the breading on the outside was super crisp and the inside was super soft. I have been everywhere in this country and sampled some of the freshest seafood items on each coast, I can confidently tell you that these are going to be the best you have ever had! I am super pumped about coming back here to try everything! Update: Dinner Time Just as expected everything was super fresh and crisp. We drove home about 13 minutes and everything was still really crisp and delicious. We got the fish basket, 3 chicken baskets, clam strips, calamari, bbq wings, and garlic Parmesan wings. Wings were big, breading was thin and flavorful, clam and calamari was super tender and cooked perfectly. Everyone needs to try this! read more

Fantastic clams and fish and love the hush puppies!!!! Nice clean shop and friendly staff

Great fried fish and French fries. I eat this and I think I'm on the Carolina coast. The decor is definitely of the coast. Their burgers are just as good, better than Red Robin in my opinion. They also have the chicken planks which my wife get often. We both thoroughly enjoy this places food. All good. read more

We have heard if this place since we moved to the area. So on a whim we stopped in. OMG! Think of an old fashioned fish fry! And double the flavor! The fish dinner comes with a choice of 1,2,3 pieces, 2 hush puppies, and chips. The fish was a mild white fish with a crispy batter crust, the fries were a perfect match for the fish, and the hush puppies were good. All in all, 5 stars for this mom and pop music lace! read more

This place has possibly the best french fries I have tasted in my life, never have I come here and had cold or soggy fries. The interior gives you a very traditional florida restaurant vibe and it's very comforting. Overall one of the only good restaurants near me and I've never been disappointed. read more

Been told this is the fish place to go to in Pataskala. Location is perfect for a run to afterwork so I stopped in and picked up 2 fish dinners, clams and clam chowder. Nice and hot and fresh food! The fries were so fresh and delicious. The fish was ok, too much breading for my taste. It had a good taste just hate when there is so much breading to the fish. The hush puppies were sweet and I loved the flavor they had!! They have lots of condiments with the meals and that was nice to have them available. The person working the drive thru was so friendly and talkative to me. Keep her around!!! I loved the onion ring sauce!! Keep doing what you're doing we will be back for seconds!! Can't wait to try the Tuesday special :) read more

Rusty's Wharf - Fish dinner, a few onion rings .. some tarter o. The side! - Fish & Chips Near Me - Pataskala, Ohio

Eating here was like eating fish on the coast...I forgot that I was land locked in Ohio! All of the fish was prepared perfectly! I have never had such delicious clam strips or butterflies shrimp! The iced tea was out of this world too! On top of that...the service was excellent! Several waitresses came to our table MULTIPLE times. I was shocked because typically when ordering at a counter once you walk away...that's it. Overall, amazing food and service for an excellent price!!!! read more

Decent seafood at fast food prices. The new location is miles better as well. Clam strips are my favorite.

This is our 2nd time to eat at Rusty's Wharf. The prices are great and have a good selection of seafood but it's mostly deep fried. We ordered the combo with clams, chicken and fish. The platter came out and the chicken was so dark and hard. When we took it back the counter they said that's how they cook the chicken because it's so thick. They offered us another piece of fish. We accepted but it was a little disappointing. When we drive to Lynds we will still go to eat here. read more

UPDATE: We gave Rusty's Wharf another chance yesterday, and had an absolutely wonderful meal for our date night. Just like our last visit, everything was PERFECTLY cooked, but this time it was also well seasoned! I again had the sampler; shrimp, clams, fish, chicken, fries, and hush puppies. Laurie had fish and shrimp, and we shared a basket of fried smelts and a bowl of clam chowder. Their unique fries were extremely cripy with a fluffy interior. Fish and chicken was moist and flaky inside, and had a very crunchy coating. The smelts had a pleasant chew, and the hushpuppies were pillowy and oniony with a deightful crunchy exterior. Our HANDS DOWN favorite was the delicious clam chowder. There's no frills, and we didn't see much of our waiter, but the food was certainly top notch, as well as abundant and reasonably priced. Well worth the 20 minute drive to Pataskala; I'm glad we came back again. read more

Fish and chips- best around. You would be surprised, but they have my favorite wings. Mac and cheese. Homestyle desserts. Good mac n cheese. Try it! read more

Love this place. Happy to see it grow into its new location. The breading can occasionally be a little thick, but generally it is great. Fries are good and plentiful. I get the baked beans and the coleslaw is not over sweet. Last order I received two pieces of chicken instead of fish. First time anything like that has occurred. Visually they were almost a match to my wife's fish. Love supporting local stores. read more

What a gem! Brought the whole family and we ate so much for such a reasonable price. We ordered a whole range of items - fish and chips, Buffalo wings, baked fish, fried shrimp and clams, and chicken strips. Everything was fantastic. The batter was absolutely perfect and so crispy! Tarter and cocktail sauces were the perfect compliment. The service was helpful and extremely patient with our large group and many children with extra requests. Looking forward to returning! read more

Bring on the salt water, beachy vibes! This place gives you all of the feels of being near the beach/ocean! If only we lived near the beach/ocean, right?! (Wah!) I love all of the decor in this place! The place is absolutely beautiful! My stepson and I stopped in for dinner and really enjoyed the music and food! You place your order when you first enter the restaurant. I didn't notice until we left, but they also have a drive-thru if you're in a hurry! We loved the tables and chairs in the restaurant. The tables and chairs were heavy and seemed to be made from handcrafted wood. We had the shrimp basket and the sampler (1 fish, 1 chicken tender, 3 shrimp, and a handful of clam strips). Holy moly! Everything was absolutely amazing and full of flavor! Everything came out piping hot, fresh, and crispy! The chips (fries) were homemade and so so so good! They were thick cut and cooked to perfection! The food was so filling that neither my stepson or I could finish our meals. The staff was super friendly too. We will definitely be back again soon! read more

We were looking for fried seafood restaurant on Yelp. Came across this gem. I had the combo just because I couldn't decided what to eat. Combo came with 1 fish, 1 chicken, 3 shrimp claims. Loved it all but the claims seemed to be mostly batter. Hubs got the shrimp basket. Excellent. All baskets came with fries and 2 hush puppies. Will definitely be back for more. read more

Great local place for fish and chips they also have great baked fish and chicken wings.

To really understand how unbelievably good Rusty's Wharf is, it's useful to contrast the early dinner I had here with a recent expedition to the Columbus Fish Market in Grandview. I'm like a fried fish werewolf, about once a month I look for a spot to satisfy an itch that can only be scratched by battering seafood and cooking it in oil. Last month, the Columbus Fish Market left a dry and underseasoned (not to mention heat-lamped) taste in my mouth, and I honestly hoped the bad experience would be enough to help me kick the habit. Alas, no. With another craving for deep fried seafood, I entered Rusty's Wharf, an unassuming location that looks kind of like a Five Guy's on the outside, and a 19th century pirate ship within. I ordered the sampler and a sweet tea. The tea is brewed in house, and you can tell. It's fresh, tasty, and they don't skimp on the sugar. I might have gone half sweet, half unsweet if it was self-serve, but I can hardly call it a flaw - the tea still hit just right. The sampler arrived somewhere between 5-15 minutes after ordering, a good sign that my good was cooked to order instead of waiting under a heatlamp. I could see steam rising from the generously stuffed basket of fish, shrimp, chicken, clams, and chips - another good sign. Frankly, the hardest part of this meal was waiting for the freshly-cooked food to cool down enough to eat. Everything else was just fantastic. The fish and shrimp perfectly fried, the chicken wonderfully crisp, with an excellent creamy honey mustard. But the chips stand out. They might be the best fried potatoes I've ever had. I don't know what they do to get them so perfect, but I cannot recommend them enough. These folks know their business, and if you find yourself in the Pataskala area, I urge you to stop by. read more

Rusty's Wharf - Sampler - Fish & Chips Near Me - Pataskala, Ohio

Great clam chowder. Always consistently good fish. Be careful of the dry rub wings to go. They are really oily.

I've been here twice now in the last few months and neither visit disappointed. I tried the fish and chips and the wings and both blew me away. My wife ordered a burger and she was blown away as well. If you call ahead, it's simple to pull up to their pick up window and pay for and get your food and be on your way. It's pretty clear why the restaurant has been a staple in Pataskala and I foresee it being so for a long time to come! read more

Fried food at its finest. Everything is batter dip to order and fried. Not the healthiest of meals but the line out the door on a Friday objects. 3rd visit in multiple years. We don't get out to Pataskala often. Ordered at the counter, and found a just cleaned table. Typical seascape decor on the walls. The wood chairs are uncomfortable. The seats tilt back in an odd design. The food is freshly battered to order. Prices are great. Everything was crispy and tasted great. I also tried the wings that were surprisingly unbreaded. They were a decent assortment of sizes. The drawback is the flavors. Franks Red Hot is nothing special. Mixing a homemade recipe of hot sauce or dry rub would be the way to make them stars. My garlic parmesan was a puddle of butter with parmesan cheese dusting. Bleh! I applaud them for not trying to do deep fried desserts in the same fryers. Thanks again for asking guests to not clear their own tables. So when we sit, we know it's been cleared and cleaned. read more

Hot food & friendly people - just what we were looking for after our side road trip to see the Longaberger Basket building. We had the daily special - two pieces of fried fish, fries & hush puppies $7, clam chowder; nice creamy broth, and a side of clam strips. Everything was hot & served quickly. They have a drive-up window too, but we were ready to take a car break. Glad we found Rusty's Wharf. read more

All the seafood was awesome. Good prices and the home made Cannoli's are awesome too

Sis and I decided to venture off to Lynds to do some apple picking out in Pataskala. After 15 minutes of tough and strenuous apple picking and picture taken we we decided to try out Rusty's Wharf. Subconsciously I probably knew I was going to get into some big bad tasty scrumptious fried fish and chips after because I ate 2 delicious apples on the way over... I was so tempted to keep this place a secret but I can't bear to do the world injustice. It's so damn good. Perfectly fried. We got the wednesday special (2 fish filet basket with fries and hush puppies and drink) for like 6 bucks!!!! And they have fried clams and shrimp... I'm just glad this place is so far away because I would go here all the time and my LDL would go through the roof. read more

We will be back. Fish was great. Hush puppies were a throwback of a childhood favorite. Do not pass up the mac-n-cheese, unless you don't like butter and cheese read more

Ordered food here during the pandemic. Read the great reviews and thought we would give it a try. My wife and I ordered the fish combo, and my son ordered the cheeseburger combo. As we waited for our food I was impressed by how organized the staff was. They were very busy at the time, but worked like a well oiled machine (no pun intended) to get get orders out efficiently. We took the food home and ate. The fish had a crispy crust and was very tasty. The French fry's were excellent. My son said the burger was one of the best he's had. Great prices, service, and food!! We will definitely be back!! read more

Pretty good stuff, needs new menu item however- it's chicken burger or fish and that's it. Their hush puppies carry the entire place those are fantastic, and the baklava too! It would be nice to see a "grandmas house" type meals like a different kind each week, lasagna or an alfredo then meatloaf. Like a rotating basis of family meals, or even a take and bake selection hmm read more

Second time here. Visiting friends that recently moved down the road. The first time we were here got the shrimp & fish basket. Wanted to try something different, so we got the sampler basket and a fish & shrimp basket. Again just like the first time everything was very good. I like to think of it like LJS but better. It is located in a strip mall (what isn't nowadays) and easy to find. We will definitely be back. We love fish & chips and always have to stop on the way back from vacation for fish and chips to keep the memory alive of my mans father. His dad used to stop at least once on the family vacation at LJS either on the way out or on the way back. read more

Friendly staff, great atmosphere, and great food. If you enjoy fish and chips, burgers, wings, or hotdogs, this is worth your while.

Rusty's Wharf - Large Fish Basket (3 Fish Filets) - Fish & Chips Near Me - Pataskala, Ohio

Ate here once during Covid. Picked up a chicken sandwich. I have not been back since. Not impressed.

So I finally gave in and gave Rusty's a 2nd chance. I was greatly surprised. The fish was a nice portion and had a lighter coating of batter. The fries were crisp and hearty, the hush puppy was hot and tasty. This was a carry out order so it was a few minutes after picking it up to eating but it was still in great condition. I really enjoyed the fish. The new location is a bit out of town but worth the drive. read more

The new Rusty's was an exciting place to have my birthday lunch this year. We accidentally overshot as their gorgeous new sign wasn't up yet. We also accidentally caused the dining room to look up by using what appears from the road to be the front door. Once we made our way to the back to order we were able to get our food quickly. It was the same Rusty's for sure. I got the sampler and the chicken was a bit crispy, but everything tasted amazing. My wife went classic with Fish and chips. Looking forward to visiting again soon. read more
