We entered the bar and were greeted warmly by the bartender. She got our drinks and took our food orders. We asked about the book she was reading and her family and had a very nice conversation. Food came and was delicious. The bar was welcoming and friendly. This was all particularly pleasing as it was a Sunday night and one of the only places in Riverton, Wy opened that served food and liquor. I saw this place as I was making my way through town. Looking for a hotel. After I got checked in to the hotel I walked back to the Rusty Truck for dinner. They had everything set up for social distancing. I ordered the spot welder burger and it was a bit over cooked. I had to go and order my beer from inside the bar. I'm normally a sour beer drinker, but this wasn't an option so I tasted a few and picked the Atlantic City Gold. It was decent. I also over ordered and got the the wings. The best part of the meal was the wing sauce on the wings. The service was a little disjointed which resulted in my salad coming out after I was almost done with my meal. I took it to go and had it on the road for dinner the next day. A life saver in the middle of nowhere. If I ever make it back to Riverton I will make sure I save space for an ice cream dessert. read more

Great greeting from the 2 employees working at the front. They both made great suggestions. The gentleman even offered a very small taste of one of their salad dressings so that I could make sure that I liked it and would order it next time. Loved I could grab a IPA pint at the bar. My burger was excellent, the old Rusty Truck. I can't make any suggestion on how to make it better. The meat was solid. My husband had wings. They were gone in a heartbeat. He helped me with my fries. I would go there again for sure. Between the service, the friendliness, the attentiveness of the staff, the extra care to make sure I was aware of all the specialties and options on the menu, I would just say go. I was hangry after driving through Grand Teton, snacking and driving all day. Most places close at 8 pm. Dropped spouse at motel and I drove here. The special was French Dip with horseradish aioli and cheese. I skipped mushrooms and onions. French fries were included for $12. I got it to go. The fries were thicker, crinkle cut and seasoned. The portion was huge. I ate all the fries and a couple bites of French dip. I ate the rest for breakfast the next morning. ZERO STARS! (If the system would let me) Food was fair with taste but service ruined the meal. Traveling and in town for 4 days - GLAD I LEARNED ON DAY1. Ordered Cod, Slaw & Fries at $21 (drink sold separately) quality was basically frozen food from grocery store thrown thru air fryer - same with crinkle cut fries. Slaw was blue cheese tint as served at this place. Asked for a spare cup (about1.5" cup) of tarter sauce as one would be enough for1 piece of fish. Server left to get it returned to let me know management states it would cost extra. If you're going to pretend to be a restaurant rather than fast food - act like one! $21 for basic fish & chips YET extra cost for one extra cup of tartar sauce?!?! I've eaten here four times in the last three years. My second day here the family went there. My wife had fish that was grease saturated and a huge plate of cold fries. I had a burger that had plasticized cheese on it and looked recooked. My daughter liked her burger. The second time we had pizza. It was burnt as far as I'm concerned. The bottom was mostly black. The last time I had some kind of burger with cold fries. My wife's onion rings were pretty good. Of four meals that was it. Her onion rings. The ice cream never seems available when I'm there. All the negative reviews we read were dead on! Sadly nothing else in town was really open so we figured we'd give it a try....ohh do we regret it. First off the organization was horrible. You could tell the staff was scrambling, no one seemed to know what they were supposed to be doing. While waiting to order we watched two other families walk up and ask for a refund. That should have been our clue. Once we finally got our food ordered there was no where to sit as all the tables were dirty. We had to clear a table ourselves to sit. After an hour and half a staff member finally came out and says their pizza guy got slammed and asked if we would still like to wait or get a refund. I looked over and their pizza guy was standing there talking with some friends while the other guy was eating food behind the counter. When we said we would wait as everything else in town was starting to close, he hummed around and finally just said he was going to refund our order as they were closing in 15 mins. The food is okay. The service is terrible. The server is "Alex D" according to the receipt. The nachos we ordered look like cheap chips with shredded cheese nuked on it. There's hardly any chicken that was ordered specifically. The food was served to 2 people at my table before the other two. The server got an attitude when I asked if the others' food was coming out- waved a plate at me and looked towards our table. I asked for silverware and all of it was filthy. I was going to take a photo of the silverware, with food and grease caked on them. I asked to speak to the manager (sorry to be a Karen) and the server asked why I wanted to speak to a manager, I showed him the silverware and he took it out of my hands and said he'll take them back and get new ones and the manager is too busy to talk. Driving south from Thermopolis, we were discussing the possibility of a late lunch and wondering where we might find food when we stumbled across Rusty Truck on an internet search. I started reading the dish names off and Raz a d I got a good chuckle before I got to the descriptions and our mouths were seriously watering. Raz knew right off that he wanted to try the Straw Boss, even if the sandwich contained slaw which we're generally not terribly fond of. I couldn't decide, so we ended up getting 2 pizzas with the intent of leftovers for breakfast. Ordering ahead on the phone was a little tricky, but that's a phone problem on my end, and I give mad props to the person taking my order because he was super patient and made sure we got my order right. Fast-forward 20 minutes, and the restaurant called to let me know my order was ready. I order a lot of take-out, and that's service above the usual, so more kudos. We were literally pulling into the parking lot as I got the call, so everything was hot and fresh. Raz was so amazed at his first bite of the Straw Boss that he made me take a bite too before he demolished it. That slaw I mentioned, it's phenomenal. Somehow it ended up tasting slightly smoky and bleu-cheesy underpinned with fresh cabbagey goodness. Neither of us have had a slaw lime it, and I seriously considered driving back to see about getting a large side of it. However, I had 2 pizzas to eat. Pizza 1 was the Formidable Grisly Pear, and it was just as fabulous as its name fresh out of the oven. The Ricotta Cream sauce is salty and tart, but the sweet pears balance it to perfection. The peppery arugula and delicious bacon are just icing on that savory cake. Pizza 2 was the Not Mush Room. It was mushroom, and salty ricotta cream fabulosity, and garlicky yumminess, and possibly the best pizza I've had in the last year. Totally worth the trip! read more

I got home opened the pie and ALL of the basil was wilted old and several pieces had that wet slime on them. The salad had brown lettuce one lettuce end and some fresh spinach. I'd love to give my review 5 stars, having read everyone else's review. But frankly our experience wasn't fantastic. I'm putting it down to " they're having an off day" We ordered a pizza and a salad at the pizza counter when you walk in. I ordered my pizza with feta as an addition, I think the young lady taking my order was likely new as she couldn't figure out how to add it ( it did end up on the bill). I asked for the pizza to be well done and plained what I meant by that. A little charred on the crust. The Fennel and Pear salad was excellent! The pizza however was undercooked on one half. I have a wood fired brick pizza oven at home. What this tells me is the cook doesn't know how to run his oven. A wood fired oven is extremely hot, you need to watch what's going on and manage the bake. The bar portion of the place is off to one side. The place was busy, both at the bar and tables. She doesn't have time to keep the drinks coming and bus the tables. We cleared our and the one next to us while we waited for pizza and then ordered our drinks. There is a decent selection of wine, spirits and beers including a handful of locals on draft. Lastly we decided to get a couple of s oops of ice cream to walk home with. The girl serving us had little idea about the flavors or even where they were located. We told her we wanted two scoops in a cup, one each of the two flavors chosen. She ended up making two tubs with 2 scoops of each flavor in them, not one of each. Rather than embarrass her I just paid for two, and frankly threw one away, we have absolutely no idea what flavour it was, nothing like the two I'd ordered. What the staff needs is more help and some training wouldn't help. We'd go back because I really think this might have been a bad night. read more

Stopped in on our way through town. We had the pulled pork sandwich w/ fries, 4x4 Burger w/ fries and Fried shrimp. Ordered the Pulled pork, which was the special, the way it comes and it was amazing with just a hint of heat. Highly recommend! The 4x4 burger was flavorful, not dry, steak fries were crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, the shrimp was giant, tender, hot & fresh.
