Not the best tacos. Mg least favorite was the chicken the best was the bbq brisket. Margaritas were amazing

Late night trip with my beau. They have a nice selection of tacos on the menu. I got the fried chicken and bbq brisket tacos, both very tasty. He got the fried chicken as well but he barely got any meat on his. They apparently were chintzy on the cabbage and meat that night (this was my first time so I didn't realize). I'm finding that I prefer flour tortillas and theirs are white corn. With the corn tortillas, they would be so much better if they were warmed. These were cold. It was later in the evening, so I won't fault them too much. Service was a little spotty and delayed but they made the tacos fairly quickly. The inside is pretty sterile and cold. I think I would probably prefer to get my tacos to go. Pricing is ok. $2 to $3.50 per taco and they are fairly small so you will want to get at least two. It could really add up if you are a big eater. There are probably better taco options out there but I liked these tacos. I would come back if I had the chance. read more

Rusty Taco has been a favorite of mine for a few years now! Their menu is pretty affordable, especially during happy hour and delicious, especially for a chain. I would recommend the tempura fish taco, baja shrimp taco, and their queso. Sometimes their margs are insanely strong, but that's the way it should be! read more

Great tacos! The Rojas Taco was bomb. The guacamole was less than stellar. Grilled shrimp taco was good, could've used a bit more spices.

I like this place and come here about every other month. Cool vibe, quick service, good music, nice crowd. I'm enrolled in the Five Stars rewards program and got a free beer with my dinner tonight. Nice. The last couple times I've been here, the quality of food seems to have gone down little - hopefully I just hit off nights. My favorite taco is the #10 Fried Chicken Taco. Tonight, they were cold and dry (same as last visit). Might be time to seek out a new fav...?! I love the chicken nachos with queso cheese and black beans. Tonight's came out with chorizo instead of chicken. I decided to keep it - was still ok, but chicken is better. Overall, still a fun spot to eat and have a beer. read more

Love Rusty Tacos! Their variety and flavor keep me coming back! We order from the NE location about every other month. Recommended!

This place reminds me of being in Southern California and I love it. They have a large garage door that acts as a window and can be opened when the weather is nice. Most of the tacos are $2.50 with a couple being $3.00. We split 5 tacos for two people and it was the perfect amount. The atmosphere of the restaurant is casual, you order at the counter then pick up your food. Our ranking of tacos (best to worst): Fried Chicken, BBQ Pork, Shrimp, Brisket, pulled pork. The margarita was okay and was relatively inexpensive ($4) but it did have a lot of ice in the cup so you get what you pay for. If you want a little escape to someplace warmer this can be a good option. read more

Rusty Taco - BBQ pork taco up front, fired chicken, brisket and shrimp in the back. - Tex-Mex Near Me - Minneapolis, Minnesota

I consider myself a taco aficionado, and Rusty's fried chicken taco is one of the best I've had! It's in my top 5 in the Twin Cities for sure. It has a great amount of heat to it! read more

a friend and I walked in and waited to order tacos and an African American couple was behind us, as we waited they snuck beside us then cut in front of us completely, I mentioned " I believe we were here first" and the woman started screaming at us, then the man called me "slant eyes" because I am asian, meanwhile the staff was doing absolutely nothing, I was just shocked at how they were acting and I just walked out, and the staff just served them like there was no problem, you can just come in cut and yell racial slurs at people and R taco is cool with that, in fact its a good way to get in front of the line. *sarcasm* I have been there once prior and their soggy tacos are nothing to get excited about, they are just the closest place to get tacos for me, but I will not be going there anytime soon. read more

Welcome to another addition of: Hong Honest Food review. Today we have R Taco (delivery). Let me say, as a Mexican Street Taco enthusiast...i hate it, but i will be very fair in my review and will not show prejudice to something that i am not accustomed to. I ordered 3 tacos with chips and pico de gallo. Shrimp Taco: honestly...pretty damn good. The shrimp was breaded and deep fried. Came with a slaw and an orange aioli. The shrimp was savory and crispy. The slaw was crunchy. The aiolli a nice mix of savoriness that complimented the shrimp and flavored the slaw, but it felt like i shrimp salad on a wrap. Fried chicken taco: same batter as the shrimp. Tastes good, but more like a chopped up chicken tender. Steak: bland, not crispy, liked the sauteed onion. All in all...once a year type of thing. 5/10 read more

The staff are not memorable, the eat-in location isn't always clean and is in the dying areas of college ville off Hennepin but with all this set aside, it is still my FAVORITE taco place. The cilantro with lime, delicious lean pork marinated with spices and decorated with tart pineapple and fish tacos!? Spicy, 'clean', mostly healthy and great portion sizes. Their sauces are spicy and I've never found ANY grizzle in my meat (and I'm super picky). I adore their food truck, I come here at least 3 times a month and overall - I would miss this if I ever moved. I recommend everyone have a Rusty Taco now and then! It's even inspired me to add cilantro and lime to my lettuce when making tacos at home. read more

Tacos were okay, nothing special, but I also had terrible service. I was just grabbing tacos with a friend for a quick bite to eat. I went to go pick up my tacos when they called my name and I heard someone behind the counter mumble something, but I just went back to my table. As I was taking a picture of my food, the guy comes up to me from behind the counter and called me beautiful and asked for my number. Extremely inappropriate and uncomfortable AND he was on the clock, so super unprofessional. He kept trying to talk to me but I said I was not interested. I won't be going back there! read more

Rusty Taco - Tex-Mex Near Me - Minneapolis, Minnesota

Wow this place needs a good cleaning. The meat in the taco was cold. The counter service seemed annoyed we were there. This spot sure has gone down the toilet. read more

Placed an order at 2pm with a 6 pm pickup time. Arrived at 6 and had to wait for one hour! Instead of telling me it'd be an hour they kept saying 5-15 more minutes so I couldn't run errands and come back. Once I finally got the food it was missing the chips, queso and salsa I ordered. A taco was also missing the pineapple it was supposed to have. Guac is not super flavorful. The shrimp tacos are very tasty though and they do have a great happy hour deal. read more

Nothing fancy. Just fantastic tacos. Their menu even includes calorie counts for those who want to obsess over unnecessary details. People. Just eat tacos and enjoy life. read more

Came here on a whim with my partner. We both got the grilled fish tacos. He also got a fried chicken taco and I got the brisket taco. The brisket taco is DELICIOUS. I also enjoyed the fish taco, but there was more sauce that I prefer on it. My partner said the grilled chicken tacos were good but the chicken is more like popcorn chicken. More like fast food. read more

Every-time I've been to Rusty Taco has been a great experience and I've been at least 10-20 times. Last time I spoke with Tony and he recommended two different drinks for a friend and I and they were both great! The best part of going is the food for me. There's a lot of different options and each one is as good as the next. The food is also very well priced compared to others in the area. If you haven't tried Rusty Taco, I highly recommend it! read more

You're really better off going somewhere else the service is bad and the food/drinks are not good enough to be as expensive as they are.

I asked a friend if Minneapolis had any good Mexican food the other week. I know he knows every inch of this town, and I hadn't gotten a solid answer from anyone else for where I could eat. I just keep getting told there's no good Mexican food in the mid-west. I can't accept that, guys. I'm from New Mexico, but I ain't THAT hard to please. Luckily, my friend didn't let me down. He suggested R Taco, and we found ourselves nearby a week later. He did suggest the Rusty Taco first--their own tacos al pastor. I tried that one, the fried chicken taco, and the brisket taco. Everything was absolutely delicious! The rough part for me at most restaurants is my allergy--I'm allergic to onions. It is a stupid, stupid allergy that makes good food difficult. Everything good has onions! They were able to cater to my needs, and the only thing that was accidentally compromised were the nachos that I bought to share as an appetizer anyway. I scraped off the onions and sprinkled on more chorizo and life was good. Go forth and enjoy! read more

@MatthewN Rusty taco is for rich people? Hahahahah! If being able to order $8 in tacos is a rich mans game, then damn you must be one poor bastard. How do you even have a phone or internet to write this review. read more

Very tasty authentic quality tacos for a fair price. There are many different options with some vegetarian and gluten free choices available, along with a couple different extra salsa toppings. I personally had the brisket taco and it was exceptional. Ordered some nachos with spicy beef and queso and I can say with my heart and my tastebuds that the queso was one of the better queso dips around. You may not find much better, but a fair warning that it's chunky with tomatoes which I believe helps it's case. I would love to come back to R Taco and indulge in a new mix, such as the steak taco or fried chicken taco. Would recommend to a food connoisseur. read more

This place is rated waaaay too high. My chicken taco had no seasoning or flavor. I am a horrible cook and I could make food better than this. Luckily my husband and I each only ordered 1 taco so after we were dissatisfied we decided to go to Taco Bell instead. read more

R Taco doesn't serve your stereotypical American taco, but it's definitely not authentic either. I come here when I'm too bougie for Taco Bell, but don't want to drive all the way to Lake Street for some bomb authentic tacos. Each taco varies from $2-$3.50 depending on the type of meat you get. My go-to are the fried chicken and crispy Baja shrimp tacos. Hit em with that habanero sauce, and it's fire. read more

Excellent. Love coming here with friends. Andy and Ali swear by it, so why not. I get the nachos with double meat. read more

Some of the blandest tacos you will ever have please don't come here to eat you will be disappointed margaritas are okay tho

Although the name is reminiscent of a women's venereal disease, I had some high hopes for Rusty Taco due to its location. Since Wilde Roast and Look + See moved out months ago, that corner of 6th and Hennepin was looking so sad. However, the layout and tacos are just ok. Since Rusty Taco is in the old Look + See, the narrow space was fine for an optometry joint but not so much for a taco joint. The entry is right near the order line, effectively dividing the eatery into two. So if you are sitting on one side and need to get the other to get salsa/soda, you have to work your way through people. I do like that they opened up the side of the building for a big window, but it's probably to distract your from the butts of people who are waiting for their order. It's a narrow space. Service was very fast, in my opinion. Took less than five minutes from when I ordered to receive my tacos. But I went after the lunch rush, around 1. Ordered the rajas and the Rusty. The rajas is basically roasted veggies with cojita. Pretty hearty and a great option for vegetarians. The Rusty had a nice heat, but the pineapple was a strange addition and the meat was dry. I had to wade through the line of people waiting to order to grab some salsa. They indicated there are heat levels of mild, medium, and hot but I didn't see that on the bottles themselves. It was like a salsa roulette; am I safe with mild or did I just douse my taco in liquid fire? I'm so conflicted. Great location, but the tacos were just ok and the layout was not very welcoming. read more

I visited the food truck over lunch downtown, and the line was packed. Good sign, right? After a fairly long wait of about 20 minutes, I got my food--two tacos, one roasted pork and one brisket. I was ready to chow down. 10 minutes later, I was left with no tacos, only a sense of indifference to what I had just eaten. I might try you again, Rusty Taco, and hopefully next time, the tacos pack more flavor. read more

I really enjoyed eating at Rusty Taco because of the atmosphere and the cool vibe. They have amazing tacos with great service that puts a smile on your face. read more

RUSTY. TACO. DAY-UM. Honestly the tacos here are just as good (if not better) than the tacos you get at upscale Mexican places. The shrimp taco and the mushroom taco are my two favorites. I like how you get the tacos a-la-carte - you can mix, match, and try 'em all! I'm a bit surprised the ratings aren't higher. Compared to other quick-service restaurants, I think this place is at least above average. C'mon, ya guys, why you hatin on the Rusty? read more

First time here and visiting from out of town. I ordered two tacos and nachos. The tacos were cold all around from the cold corn tortilla and the cold meat. Hopefully I do not get sick. The nachos I just opened up and guess what: ITS ALL COLD. The hot sauce, is good (habanero). read more

This was a good decision on my part for a quick meal on a Saturday night. No lines, no wait, no trouble parking. When I walked in, I immediately noticed the "casual laid-back feel" of the place. I dug it, I dug it a lot. I ordered the fried chicken taco, beef fajita taco, and the rusty taco (ranging between $2.75-$3.25 per taco). My favorite out of the three tacos I ordered was the fried chicken taco. Typically, I'm not a "slaw" kind of girl, but it sure did work for this taco...I thought the chicken, slaw, and jalapeno ranch complimented each other well. There was the perfect amount of cilantro on top, so it wasn't overwhelming. I would not order the beef fajita taco again. Although it was tender, I did not taste any distinct flavor. As for the rusty taco, I liked the pineapples in it as this made it stand out amongst the other taco options on the menu. The achiote pork was okay, nothing to be obsessed over. Service was extremely fast, and I like their "take-out" presentation...nicely wrapped in aluminum foil with a label on each one indicating which taco it is, and some lime in each bundle. The labels were a slick touch, you can't get your tacos mixed up and confuse your taste buds before taking a big bite! I appreciated the big napkins because we all know tacos can get messy, especially on the go. All in all, I would come back to R Taco again, but switch up my choices...I would hands down buy their entire supply of fried chicken tacos if I could, but being that I like trying new things, I'll be sure to try some of their other selections on the menu. read more

TOTAL BS SERVICE! The food is good enough (normally) to eat when in a rush, but not today. My name is M A T T. Lets get that straight. I waited and waited for my name to be called. It never was. I was hungrier and hungrier. I was thinking, WTF is taking so long? I asked if my order had been made. I was asked what I had ordered, and the guy in the ponytail, glasses, and facial hair - showed me the order that was up. Interesting... MY NAME IS NOOOOOOOOTTTTT BEEEEEENNNNNNEEEETT BENNET! Are you f'ing serious! He called Bennet's order like 5 times. The dude taking my order asked for my name, and after asking if I had points, he asked for my phone number. My account SHOWS MY NAME! I will not eat there or any other location for the rest of the year. I may never eat there again. So if your in the mood for stupidly crappy service, eat here. Oh, I asked glasses WTH was up with the name issue, and he looked at me and gave me the "why the hell should I care shoulder shrug with blank stare". This place SUCKS! read more

I'd give it zero stars if I could. How does this pass off as tacos? It's awful, like, soup kitchen reject awful. Velvita cheese, store bought chips, the crappy ones that taste like Cardboard. I order between 3-6 catering luncheons per week for my job, and I can ALWAYS count on R Taco for high quality food, reliable delivery, and a crowd pleasing lunch. Their tacos come individually wrapped and labeled with the name of the taco, so everyone knows what they are getting. Their chips are so fresh and delicious, and you get an abundance of them when you order their pico, guacamole, or queso. I like their guacamole, as they do not use sour cream as a filler (which some restaurants do). All orders come with their 3 signature salsas: red traditional, verde, and habanero (really hot). Each salsa is fresh, and unique, bursting with flavor. We have tried all of the tacos, but the favorites land on: # 5- brisket, # 11- BBQ brisket, # 8- Fried Shrimp, # 10- fried chicken, # 13- Texican (traditional ground beef, lettuce, tomato, and cheese), and # 4- Chicken fajita taco. I not only order this for corporate luncheons, but I choose to come here on my own for dinner as their tacos are so amazing. They also have beer on tap and margaritas. How fun! read more

I went with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised! All the tacos are $2.50 (fish and shrimp tacos are $3) and they all sound pretty tasty, I got the Baja Shrimp Taco and the Fried Chicken Taco. Food came out incredibly fast (which pleased me) and it was delicious! I thought the tacos were small, but they surprisingly filled up my big hungry belly. They only have tacos (no burritos, chimichangas, salads, etc), just tacos, but a great twelve to pick from. This location also seemed to have a fairly good selection of beer on tap, like Fulton. If you're looking for quick, fairly priced, tasty tacos, this is the place to go. read more

Rusty taco is a great quick meal spot. My boy is obsessed with it, primarily because he doesn't like the food I eat and I live within 5 minutes walking distance. I'm happy there are 2 vegetarian options and 2 seafood options. I love love the mushroom one, I don't know what it is, but it is super freaking good. The boy who has tried more of the menu loves both the BBQ Pork and Fried Chicken. I think it is great that there is a fair amount of toppings and the lime always gives it some extra umph. I only wish that two corn tortillas were used and this is for two reasons. Some of the tacos make the corn tortilla really slimly and it breaks apart easily. To prevent this you have to eat it as fast as possible, which granted they are small and this is easy to do, but I like to eat slower, probably more my problem than others. Anyways, it would be slightly more filling and worth the price. Corn tortillas are not expensive and I can get cheaper tacos at authentic places for cheaper and they have 2 corn. That being said, the tacos here are really good as previously stated, obviously given by the four stars! All the hot sauces are great, especially the actually spicy one, it really ramps up the taco. I love hot sauces and when one is spicy enough I always gotta give a shout out. This one also has a great taste on top of the spice. Definitely a cheap go to. read more

If you're staying downtown and looking to eat something new, you've gotta try Rusty Taco. There are the classic street tacos, salsa and chips and queso, but the specialty menu is where it's at.
