Most recently we got take out on a Friday night at 5 pm. Food 4/5: we have tried many different tacos over the year. We currently love their breakfast tacos, Shrimp tacos, and chips and guac. Well balanced season wise and you can customize to make more or less spicy. Giving them a 4 because one of the salsas we got was rancid. Service 1/5: the user experience of their website could use improvement. We always order ahead of when we go and the amount of times I've had to re enter my order or the website not letting me log in happen everytime we order. This is also the first time our order has been correct. Either they forget tacos/chips or include incorrect ones, the newer staff seems to check but previous staff generally did not. Ambiance 4/5: we have eaten in the restaurant before. Be careful that sometimes the bathrooms are out of order. If you sit in certain spots of the restaurant it is freezing cold in the winter. Outside of that the restaurant has a fun theme. Overall we really love this place but have been disappointed with food errors and website challenges. read more

This is a very cute taco spot. I'm a sucker for street tacos and this place did not disappoint. There were many menu options to choose from. The staff was courteous. The food did take a little bit of time but it didn't bother us because they have board and card games! The parking lot is rather small so be mindful of the time you're thinking about visiting. The blended margarita mix was not working so had to go with the iced version - fine but it was my birthday and I was looking forward to blended, no biggie but a bummer. Again, the staff/cashier tried to get it to work and was friendly. Then I had a email for a free chips and dip but it was not working so the cashier honored it anyways which was appreciated. I asked to pay for chorizo to be added, he did so but when I got my food, there was no chorizo. I did not say anything but strike two for me (no blended margarita and now no chorizo). I got a #2 Roasted Pork Taco which I have ordered many times from various Rusty Tacos, it was not tasting very good...tasted gamey or rancid almost. But who knows what the reason was. I nibbled on the chips and cheese (no chorizo) and tried to nibble around the pork. Again, the employees were great, it was not them. The iced margarita also was VERY sweet and tasted artificial - I slurped it down but eek, for the price and what it was, I was not pleased. I did appreciate the cashier working with us to choose a flavor and rim (salt or sugar) and then when the blended was not working, he was great and apologetic. The prices are fair, space inviting. Are these definitely more Tex-Mex than authentic tacos? Sure, and they are delicious. All of the tacos are super flavorful: my favorites are the Rusty taco (the pineapple adds a great sweetness to the taco) and the fish taco (I like the fish grilled). Their queso is also delicious and worth getting - maybe it's the thin but not too thin crispy tortilla chip, maybe it's the queso but either way it's addicting. I was meh about the elote though so wouldn't recommend that. All the tacos are between $3.50-$4.50 so pretty reasonably priced. I would say 2-3 tacos is usually sufficient for me. The tacos come out really quick too. They also have a little fridge where you can grab what kind of salsa you want on your tacos if you would like. They have a small lot next to the restaurant. The staff is great and friendly but the space is usually messy and dirty. Feels a bit unsanitary and I have a pretty low bar for that! The price is definitely right at Rusty Taco. I like going here for a cheap dinner of tacos and queso. They have really cheap margaritas too if you're in the mood! I really like the crispy shrimp and fried chicken taco. Sadly I'm not a big fan of many of the other tacos on the menu, and sometimes their consistency isn't great-- I've had some pieces of shrimp that are delicious and others that are cold and soggy. Big fan of their queso dip as well, but it's hard for me to argue with melted cheese. There's a good amount of parking out back(shared with Spitz and the ecig place) so it's a convenient stop for me on my way home. I had one of each, and decided I definitely preferred the fried fish taco. The grilled one was tasty too, but it got too soupy, and the taco fell apart so I had to eat it with a fork. I am glad I ordered the Baja sauce on the side, thanks to another Yelper who said they were too saucy. I got a 3rd veggie taco, but I ended up not eating it because I was full from the free chips & queso as well as the side of guacamole that we got. The guy at the counter was pretty helpful will pointing out the favorites and what to pair them with. He stated most people order 2-3 tacos and a side. The chalkboard menu and descriptions are all up on the wall to see. At $2-3 per taco, this cheap meals deserves to add on a local brew as well. I put in an order for #12 black bean, #8 Baja shrimp tacos with a side of chips & guacamole. The tacos were good, but just missing a little something, so be sure to put on the habanero sauce and house salsa! The #12 was tasty, but completely fell apart after my first bite. So, I decided to ditch the tortilla and eat the mixture with my chips and guacamole. The guacamoles was a pretty heaping serving for $0.75. Decided to try Rusty Taco on a whim, and man, I'm glad I did. I wanted breakfast, so I ordered the Migas bowl for pickup, but when I saw the menu had churros that were filled with caramel, I just had to. Fantastic bowl, and I loved the fried jalapeños--I'm pretty wimpy when it comes to peppers, but the fried jalapeños really elevated the whole meal. The churros were awesome--still warm when I got them home, which is good because I don't live close by. What's more is that the meal was very affordable for Minneapolis. Came in a on Saturday night (5/21) and the first person we interacted with at the register was amazing! Really wish I got his name, but he was attentive and really knew how to interact with the customers and knew how to put a smile on their faces.
