But when I give them a command they do it. When I walk them, I can stop and have a conversation with someone and they are behaved. Bruce has a method. I followed it for novice training. Now we are in advanced training and agility. My dogs are happy dogs. And they are good citizen dogs. I would say Bruce didn't train my dogs though. He trained me (and my daughter) on how to train them. There are fun events through the year too - Christmas parties, Halloween parties, for the dogs and the people.

Charlie knows all his basic commands, and astonishes people everyday with his listening skills! On top of Brad being a great trainer - we now use him for boarding as well. Since hiring Brad last winter to train Charlie as a 2 month old puppy, Charlie has gone to stay at Brad's while we've been out of town. AND HE LOVES IT SO MUCH! Brad has two dogs of his own which Charlie loves to play with, and has access to wonderful doggie door to go outside. It's like dog heaven for him. It's sad but true, that Charlie never seems to want to come home after Brad's because he loves it so much. But we can't blame him! Additionally, Brad went above and beyond during our last trip - as Charlie had a last minute surgery scheduled before we were going to be leaving the country. Brad ensured us that we wouldn't need to change our trip plans and he would do all the running around to and from the vet with Charlie, and take care of him post-op.... ISNT THAT AMAZING? Not a lot of people would probably volunteer to do that. And we felt very safe with Charlie in Brad's care. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!

Andrew spent an hour or two at the house, observing the dogs and talking to us about what we were hoping to accomplish relative to what he was seeing. Before leaving, he gave us a couple of simple things to work on prior to the start of our consecutive board-and-train sessions two weeks later. Frankie and Ellie are now back with us and while they still have enormous amounts of energy, their ability to respond to commands, walk with a loose leash (zero pulling) and maintain their "place" is incredible! Selective use of the e-collars has even allowed us to redirect their attention in the midst of their loudest, most raucous roughhousing episodes. We can't recommend Andrew enough. He has a way that brings about significant behavioral changes in the dogs while building the confidence of owners: it's amazing to witness the transformations. I started volunteering here a few months ago, and I've been impressed with HSHC from all angles - the volunteer orientation, the facility, the staff. While it's not ideal for animals to be at a shelter, this place is a top-notch place to stay until the cats and dogs find their "fur"ever homes. Please note if you are looking to adopt that the building doesn't open to the public until noon each day. You can browse the dog rooms and catteries, but you cannot pet or touch an animal until you've completed an application and been approved. Read all the policies online to be prepared! You can even submit an adoption application online.

The puppy was aggressive toward the adult which was very concerning to us. As a last resort I decided that board and train was my only chance to save this puppy, and it did! In the 2 weeks since he has been home I can spot the precursor behavior to aggression and intervene, thank to Jon's ability to teach me how to better communicate with the puppy. Board and train is a big step emotionally and financially. While we have had experience with special needs dogs, I was over my head here. My first responsibility is to the existing dog, and the idea of surrendering a deaf puppy was so disheartening to me that I would have tried anything to avoid it. After arriving home Puppy was scratching more than usual. Gave puppy tick and flea bath. Took puppy to vet within 7 days for checkup and to start monthly preventative. Within 7 days I saw tape worms in puppies stool And fleas hoping off puppy at vet. It take about 3 weeks to develop tape worm. Very disappointed to see a 10 week old puppy with fleas and tape worms. Seller advised she had another puppy to sale. That poor unknowingly buyer is purchasing a puppy that has been exposed to fleas and possibly tape worms since puppies are untreated. The seller advised me she works for a vet clinic. Shame on you. Yes, I text seller who said, "she will let the other buyer know." The horrible scratching on day one and being a vet rep., the seller was aware these puppies had flea's. You just wanted to sell them right away.
