THEY SHAVED MY POMERANIAN TO THE SKIN AND IT WON'T GROW BACK!!…read more I had previously taken my Pomeranian to the Brownsburg location for grooming and never had any issues. They meticulously kept notes on the length of all haircuts. I had to book a grooming session at their Danville location because Brownsburg was booked. They pulled up all of his grooming notes from previous haircuts at Brownsburg and we had agreed that there was no matting and to do a trim that wouldn't be shorter than a few inches. After 4 hours, I received a call from the groomers in Danville saying they were still working on him. They mentioned that there was a little bit of matting on his belly so they'd have to cut that area a little shorter. Other than that, they said his haircut was coming along good. Upon arrival, the groomers brought out my dog that had been COMPLETELY SHAVED DOWN TO THE SKIN across his ENTIRE body. They handed him over smiling saying how good he looked. I was in such shock and did everything not to cry. They offered to bring out the groomer, but I was already running late to catch my flight so I declined. I later sent them a message expressing my disgust with their service. Never received any response from them and have yet to hear back from them. ANYONE who is a basic groomer knows that there are certain breeds whose hair you NEVER shave. This includes Pomeranians. In the past, his hair has gotten pretty matted after swimming in the pool all summer. I've ALWAYS had groomers call me explaining why they wanted to shave down his hair and ALWAYS had to sign an agreement giving them consent to do so. Even at his worst matting phase, they NEVER EVER thought it was ok to shave his hair down straight to the skin. This haircut was back in July. It has now been 5 months and there are major patches on my dog where the hair has not grown back at all. His entire coat is permanently damaged and will never grow back the same. We have tried coconut oil, medication, cbd, etc. Nothing seems to grow it back. To top it off, when he was shaved down to his skin, it was in the middle of July so he suffered from very bad sunburns as his skin was fully exposed for months. Friends and family have recommended I take legal action since his coat has been destroyed and they have refused to respond or make any effort to correct their poor decisions. I wanted to wait a few months to give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe the shaving wouldn't be so damaging. But seeing that his coat is so damaged and still not growing back in massive chunks, I felt it was time to share how terrible of a job they did.

The process is simple: you arrive and check out the dogs/cats that are available from…read morerescues/shelters around the state; find one and play with them; fill out the paperwork and pay $30; and you're on your way with a new pup. I can see how this can be an issue for those that are cautious about ensuring that the animals are going to a good home, but on the flip side, it's a great event that helps to find permanent houses for most of the animals (just an assumption). This year, I went on both days. The first day I arrived 2ish hours after they had opened and nearly all of the pups were gone that were what I was looking for. I wanted to go back the next day to check it out, thinking that more pups would have been brought in - not the case at all. Cats were still in abundance both days. I got there right on time and they had nearly no new dogs from the last time. Sadly, there were all nearly Pits too. Even worse, my apartment complex doesn't allow Pits. I love the idea but hope that next year, even more dogs are brought in on the 2nd day so they can find their forever homes. The volunteers are great too. They usually didn't know most of the answers to the questions you had because they were simply volunteers, so that might be something to improve on next year. Instead of having the volunteers taking you and your possibly furry friend to the "meet and greet" stations, have one of the staff members from the shelters/rescues there so that you can get your questions answered while you're getting to know them. That was one major flaw I had. Every question I had wasn't able to be answered. Big props to the volunteers though!

THIS IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL EVENT…read more I cannot stress enough that if you are looking for a cat or dog, GO TO INDY MEGA. I would highly suggest going earlier in the event too because animals get adopted quickly!!! All the adoptable animals are up-to-date on vaccines, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. They cost $30 for adoption and they are ready to go to their furrever homes!! A lot of the shelters too offer vets that give free wellness checks or 30 days of free pet care insurance. (FYI: most vets will give you a free first visit if you adopted from a shelter). DOGS: One thing that I do want to caution about: A lot of the dogs are pitbulls or pit bull mixes. I have NOTHING against Pits; I love them. What I want to specifically bright to light is that a lot of these dogs had to go to an only pet home and were not good with kids. As a cat lady, this doesn't really work with my family. There a lot of other dogs who are not like this but I just want people to know this because there are a lot of dogs who need some love in a single pet/no kid home. I KNOW there are people out there who can do this for these animals. I heard that all the dogs got adopted except one the last time this event was held. AMAZING!!!! CATS: WOW. So many cats at Indy Mega. I think hundreds and maybe thousands of cats. I came at the end of the event and was leaving when I found the MOST perfect kitten who I just knew belonged to me and needed to come home! There was only 20 minutes left in the event but I was not rushed into the decision at all. The volunteers helped me visit with the cat, listened, and helped me through the decision making process without pushing me into adopting. If the volunteers didn't know the answer to my questions, they directed me to someone who could. The adoption process of my new cat was so easy. Took about 10 minutes. The greatest part is all the stuff they sent me home with. I got coupon books for both Petco and PetSmart. I got TONS of toys and treats. They gave me some wet food and a wet food can cover. I even got a bucket for free 10 pound box of litter (so helpful) and the bucket can be reused so I can go back for more discounted litter at Petco (I think). They really set you up for success. They want these pets to go to great homes. I couldn't be more thankful for such an amazing event. Great job Indy!!! and PLEASE check this event out even if you are just considering getting a pet.

I struggled with what I was going to review for the big 250 - there were a few good contenders but…read moreI decided to praise a small but important little place to us. We picked this vet based on a handful of reviews and proximity to our home. It was named different back then and we had a great intro appointment and were able to quickly treat a worm problem she had from the shelter when we first got her. They were very good with her despite the fact that she is a total spaz. Since that first visit, we've had to utilize them a handful of times. A couple of moments worth mentioning...first, we had one morning where our dog was throwing up a small amount of blood, we gave them a call and they gave us some suggestions to try at home which worked great and we didn't have to pay for an appointment! That's some good customer service. Most importantly, my husband came home one day after work to our dog having a seizure. Needless to say, we were quite panicked. We gave them a call shortly before they were supposed to be closing that day and they were kind enough to let us bring her in right then to see her instead of having to go to some random emergency place. Not only did they make sure she was doing ok but they calmly explained the next steps for potentially caring for an epileptic dog. We felt much better and prepared when we left there. They even gave her a little toy and were very sweet to her since she was also pretty shaken by the experience. They've also helped fix her allergy skin issues and the random infected eye she had and most importantly our dog has been seizure free since starting her medication. We have had great experiences so far with Glasglow.

I have taken my dogs, Banana and Emma, to Glasgo Memorial Veterinary Hospital several times, and my…read moreexperience has been frustrating and disappointing. Yes, they are transparent about pricing--but it often comes across as transactional. The focus on costs happens immediately, sometimes before there is even a proper greeting or any attention given to the animal. The exception is Dr. Glasgo, who has been kind and attentive, especially with my dog Banana. Unfortunately, that level of compassion has not been my experience with the rest of the staff or veterinarians. Over four visits with my German Shepherd, Emma, who suffers from perianal fistulas, not once did I feel genuine care or empathy toward her condition. The interactions have consistently felt rushed and impersonal. The pricing structure is also difficult to justify. Everything is billed separately--exam, labs, testing, medications--and even basic services like a nail trim are an additional $30. At these price points, it would be reasonable to expect some of these routine services to be included in the exam fee. Despite significant costs (over $700 for a visit, plus $500 in medications), there has been no effort to establish a long-term care plan or provide meaningful guidance on managing Emma's condition at home. Instead, the expectation is frequent return visits without clear direction, which feels more like a business model than patient-centered care. There is also a noticeable disconnect in customer experience. A sign in the lobby warns that rude behavior will not be tolerated, yet the tone from staff can feel cold and unapproachable--especially if you ask questions. I find it hard to reconcile my experience with the very high online ratings. It leaves me wondering if others have had similar experiences but haven't spoken up. I understand veterinary care has evolved and costs have increased over the years, but compassion, communication, and respect should not be optional--especially at this level of pricing. One day after posting this review the vet sent me a text: After reviewing your concerns in your review, it is clear that we have not been able to provide the level of service and care you are looking for in a veterinary hospital. A strong relationship between a client and their veterinary team is built on mutual trust and confidence. Based on your review, it appears that trust has been lost. For that reason, we feel it is in the best interest of both you and our team to cancel your upcoming appointment. We believe you and your pets will be better served by a veterinary practice that is a better fit for your expectations and communication style. If you would like your pets' medical records forwarded to another veterinary hospital, please let us know where you would like them sent, and we will be happy to do so promptly to help ensure continuity of care. We sincerely wish Banana and Emma all the best and hope you are able to find a practice that meets your needs.
