Have wanted to like this place, and have given a few chances. A few weeks back some coworkers and I decided to treat ourselves and of three meals, all were disappointing. Bacon was overcooked and the BLT sandwich was carelessly thrown together. The pizza crust was stale. The cookie was an odd combination of too soft inside and unpleasantly hard on the rim. The fries were soaking with oil and had no flavor. Customer service is always confounding, friendly but seemingly completely inept. All in all, just a very inconsistent place that I won't be taking a gamble on again. Especially not when Collective Kitchen is just down the street. read more

Stumbled upon this place walking around town with the fam - we decided to get a couple of paninis to go & eat at the park across the way. There were a few tables of families but not too busy for a Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately our small order took over 25 min which was disappointing... maybe could work on the sandwich making speeds? Luckily, they have good beer on tap so we enjoyed a cold one while we waited - try the infidel IPA! The sandwiches definitely hit the spot when we finally got them. We got a turkey avocado & 309 chicken - bacon is a FREE addition on any sandwich... amen to that! My favorite part about the meal were the homemade chips - soooo good! All I can say is that here, we were eating for survival-not enjoyment. First off, they were out of everything. This would have been understandable, given its New Year's Day, but they didn't tell us until after we ordered, paid, and had been waiting for 20 min. After explaining that they were out of all we had ordered (Mac and cheese, sandwiches, zucchini fries, soup, salad... basically the whole menu except a bacon and peanut butter sand which). After settling, out of pure starvation, for the pb&bacon we received our food... another 30 min later. The 'panini' was not smushed together, the bread was folded back, and peanut butter was smeared across the plate and got all over us when we tried to pick it up. The sandwich itself had undercooked bacon and the only flavor we tasted was the charred bread. The chips that came with it were soggy, you could fold and bend them because they were so mushy. Hardly appetizing to say the least. We were excited to try this place, but boy did we regret eating here. On a positive note, the snickerdoodle cookie was mediocre. read more

This is a hip little burger joint on the main drag in Coeur d'Alene. It is a short walk (maybe three blocks) from the resort. It has a young and modern vibe. So we came here on a Sunday night at about 745, they close at 9pm. We had a party of 10. When we went to order, we were informed that she was breaking the salad bar down, so we couldn't order salad (even though they are open until 9). We said ok, and tried to order pizza. Nope, no pizza either. Mind you, 7 items on the menu also had signs next to them that said "coming soon". Hmmmm... so what exactly can you order here then?? Love Rustic anytime we are in CDA we come here for breakfast! Even at noon! Everyone is so nice and helpful! The owner is always there and is so lovely! I love that they don't require masks it makes me love them even more ! Let's start with what they do well. Bread. The end. There were two people in the restaurant at 10:15 on a Saturday morning. Every table was dirty. The 2 employees behind the counter were doing nothing. I ordered an omelette, you like raw veggies and cold eggs? You should go the Rustic. No cheese on your omelette? Perfect place to go. The extent of the "service" was pointing us in the direction of the coffee to serve ourselves after we sat down. Silverware? Don't forget to get it yourself as well. Both things that should have been shared when ordering. When I asked about the cheese on my omelette I was met with disdain from one of the "servers". The soda machine that is exposed to the table area? That was dirty too. Unfortunate since the location of Rustic is great, however I'll never be back nor will I recommend it to anyone. read more

What was good: Everything was fresh. Staff was accommodating and kind. The mimosa was delicious! What wasn't: The staff was dressed entirely in pajamas. All of them. It's not like this was the uniform... They weren't matching or even similar. Food was bland. No sauce or seasoning on the paninis. Plastic cutlery. French toast was impossible to cut with a plastic knife. They had to go get me a pairing knife from the kitchen. Not sure it was worth cutting up though... I had the half BLT panini and tomato basil soup and my husband had the turkey avo panini with the soup. Both sandwiches were fantastic and the soup was thick and tasty. We'll definitely be back! Nothing 'rustic' here at all. Right as I walked in, a customer asked about their baked bread selection, disappointed, it's all just white bread. I got a veggie pizza, it was maybe a step above what I'd expect from a sporting event, crust is just ok, toppings are sparse. The gourmet veggie from Papa Murphy's is way better and only $18, compared to Rustic's meh-pizza at $21, I don't see the same value. It was not busy at all at 6pm on a Saturday evening, only 2 customers came in while I waited for my pizza. Both times the employees kinda looked around like they didn't know whose job it was to go to the register. The employees also kinda smirked when they realized they hadn't sold a single beer all day. At least 3 of 4 taps were goldens, pale ales, etc-- again, what's 'rustic' about that? I debated on 2 or 3 stars, and went with 2 because I won't be back. Forgive them for being relatively new and not yet 'finding their feet' but from the outside it looks like the concept is trying to slap an interesting, authentic-sounding label on very average quality food, the kind you're ok with at 2am after going to bars, but never there as a 1st choice. read more

Saturday night bummer Which was worse the cold loaded baked potato, the missing bacon on my burger, the butt of the onion served to me, the empty ketchup bottle, asking for napkins or THE INCREADIBILY POOR SERVICE. This place has a great menu, great potential however for a Saturday night pizza shouldn't take 45 minutes, you shouldn't be out of chicken and the wait staff should be focused on she customers NOT their social game. It has definite potential! Came here with my husband and kids and ordered a few slices of pizza and the chili cheese fries. I'm sure the pizza is great when it's fresh out of the oven, but they reheat it when you order it so it's kind of dry and crispy instead of chewy. The chili cheese fries were okay. The chili was a little watery and needed salt, but had a great spice to it! I'm sure once they've been open a little longer they'll improve on a few of these things. The pizza is delicious! However, customer service was appallingly bad. There was a young kid- maybe 13 or 14 running the register and struggling. After waiting 20 mins with one couple in front of us in line, we ordered our slices. The kid then went to dish the slices into a box and touched them without gloves. I made a comment that I did not want those slices- and to please put gloves on. A woman came up and tried to brush it off saying she's told him to wear gloves after cash handling 3 times today and dished up our pizza. NOT OKAY- especially after waiting for so long on top of it. Perfect place for a great breakfast and drink! We stopped our first morning in CDA and found this gem - the menu appealed to us. Simple, classic breakfasts and a free drink. Both ordered the 3 egg scramble and got to choose our own mix ins - peppers, onions, jalapeños, artichokes, olives, cheese and more! Came with bacon and potatoes plus our drink of choice. We got a Bloody Mary and a mimosa. Mimosa was frozen strawberry and it was delicious. Bloody Mary was too! We sat outside in the beautiful weather and people watched. Staff was friendly and helpful.
