The bathroom was surprisingly spacious and large, with a full size tub/shower. There was a mini-fridge and a coffee maker. The cottage we stayed in had two studios, with a shared wall. Unfortunately we could hear the people on the other side of the wall whenever they were talking (and unfortunately they were talking very early in the morning), so keep that in mind if you're sensitive to noise and booking a studio. Right outside our cottage was the fire pit, which was lovely in the evening with supplies for s'mores! We loved how dog-friendly this property was. There was a dedicated pet relief area that was fully fenced off. The continental breakfast starts at 8:30 and has a decent selection. Check-in and check out process was easy. Parking was right outside the gate along the property. We would stay here again.

This little guest house was just perfect for our 1 night stay in the Russian River Valley. The home had everything we needed- couch, tv/movies, kitchen, comfy bed and an additional sofa bed, cuteness throughout, great patio with a chiminea to keep you warm, and was nestled in a little country town in the woods of Monte Rio. You can walk to the river which is down the road, and you can rent kayaks for the day as well. Cecile, the owner, lives on the property, but this was still very private. She let us stay until 3:30pm on our day of "check-out". We walked a block to dinner at Cafe les Jumelles (see my review), but when the weather is good you should bring groceries and cook a meal at home, and eat under the stars outside. I also highly recommend breakfast or lunch at a wonderful restaurant down the road a bit called the Garden Grill. http://www.yelp.com/biz/garden-grill-guerneville#hrid:dVw0Lds83zFX0cuHvp9pEA I highly recommend staying here for a great get-away. This garden cottage can be found on sf bay area craigslist, under vacation rentals/Russian River. To contact the owner for rates and booking email Cecile: cecilekuz@gmail.com

The cottage itself is adorable, clean, and includes all the essentials (towels, dishes, kitchen, clean linens, etc.) The patio in between the rooms is really cute and feels secluded. Cecile, the owner, has a house on the front of the property, and she couldn't have been nicer about answering our questions about Monte Rio and the other nearby Russian River towns. We probably wouldn't have even seen her if we had not gone out of our way. Monte Rio is cute, quaint, walkable little town. That said, it has plenty of food/resturants and a crazy little local dive bar and movie theatre right nearby. Guerneville (the main little town in Russian River) is also only about 4 miles away and includes more options (a small brewery, sporting options, Armstrong Redwoods, a bookstore, lots of restaurants, etc.) The entire area is a great escape from the city and is only about 1 1/2 hours away! And I would definitely recommend the Garden Cottage Duo over a nearby hotel or inn.

The manager treated us very poorly, saying all sorts of bizzarre things to my 8 year old daughter and I. He refused a refund although we had not used the room at all and had booked last minute, five hours earlier that same day at noon. First he said he couldn't refund without his employer's permission. I requested he ask the owner and he behaved very angrily and asked if "You want to be my boss? Will you pay me? Buy my food, my bread, my roti?" It was absolutly bizarre and such an obvious show. Finally I went and knocked on the owner's door, a nice lady who lives on top of some of the units and she offered a refund immediately. The manager is not doing his job maintaining the property and, when I mentioned there were none of the normal postings about fire safety, hotel licensing, etc., he accused me of using my "big city power to beat up on small business" advising I should go beat up on a corporate hotel. After he finally refunded my one night stay and we were driving away, he actually yelled "Get the F%&k out!", taking a picture of my car while we drove away. I am in Guerneville a dozen times a year and I have never experienced anything so sketchy.

Cute Inn, each unit has a fair bit of privacy, and most have their own decks. There is also a grassy lawn that leads right to the river, with hammocks and picnic tables. Some seats to lounge in. Very dog friendly - we had a medium size dog and that was no problem. There were some kayaks there but we did not get to try those out. The room itself was basic but clean and comfortable. The staff were really nice. Definitely would love to stay again, no complaints at all!

Downtown Guerneville is a hop skip and a jump away where you'll find adorable shops, restaurants and lots of people watching, especially during the summer! Another great aspect of Kudos is that it allows pets, so we were able to bring our wonderful dog Rosie to stay and enjoy the river as well.
