Amazing homemade German food!…read more We tried this restaurant on a recommendation while visiting the area, and we were absolutely delighted by both the food and the service. We ordered the bratwurst, red cabbage salad, German potato salad, potato pancakes, spätzle, and Jägerschnitzel. Every single dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. It was honestly hard to pick a favorite because everything was so delicious, but if I had to choose, the Jägerschnitzel absolutely stole the show! For dessert, we had the freshly baked apple strudel, and it was the perfect ending to an incredible meal. You could taste how fresh everything was--from the flaky, buttery pastry to the warm apples and even the homemade whipped cream. It was absolutely delicious. This is a great spot whether you're dining as a couple or with a larger group. If you're planning to come with more than five people, I'd recommend calling ahead to see if they can accommodate your party with a reservation. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Guerneville!

Not inviting so we sat at a high boy in the darkened bar, which was much nicer. I'm sure it's beautiful to sit on the balcony in the summer on warm nights. We chatted with the German owner who was doubling as a bartender, who was very nice. We loved the German influences in the bar, as we had just been to Oktoberfest in Munich. The owner's daughter Sarah runs the kitchen. My husband had a pork tenderloin schnitzel "Vienna style" ($20) and I had a jaegerschnizel with mushroom gravy ($20) and both were excellent. We split the potato pancakes (two with sour cream and apple sauce, $12) which were served crispy but tasty. They had a nice German beer and wine list. We finished with a delicious apple strudel to complete a lovely meal. I recommend this restaurant for tasty dinners in a unique venue.

A special thank you to Alex, who helped me with my reservations and went above and beyond to accommodate me. Alex was incredibly helpful, welcoming, and made the entire experience that much better. The property itself is absolutely beautiful. You're surrounded by nature and incredible trees, which makes the whole place feel peaceful, private, and relaxing. The swimming pool and hot tub are amazing and the perfect places to unwind while enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The food and snacks were also excellent, and the wine was delicious! Everything about Boon feels thoughtfully done, from the atmosphere and amenities to the hospitality. If you're looking for a relaxing getaway surrounded by nature with great food, wine, and wonderful service, I highly recommend Boon Hotel + Spa. I can't wait to come back!

We loved our stay here!! Guernville is so cute. Boon Hotel and Spa is in the perfect location--…read moreclose enough to town that you can walk or ride a bike, but also secluded enough that it feels like your own little world. We stayed in the glamping tents (all the rooms were booked, so we decided to give them a chance!). The tent was nice and cozy with a heating blanket on the bed in case it gets cold, and a fan in case it gets hot. They provide locks for you to lock the tent when you leave. The tent has electricity, plug ins for your chargers or blow dryer, etc., clean outdoor showers, flush toilets, and sinks. The water in the shower got nice and warm. The care that they put into this place is incredible. Lighted votive candles in glass lanterns and string lights illuminated every night, continental breakfast included in your stay and brought to you at the time of your choosing every morning, a welcome cocktail when you check in, complementary bikes that you can ride around town, fire pits, yoga "studio", and the pool and spa with the honor bar that are open 24/7. We really enjoyed our stay here. We had plans for our anniversary while we were there, but I would like go back to simply enjoy the amenities next time! It is a 21 and older "resort" right next to ethereal giant redwoods. Gah ... Need I say more?!

We enjoyed staying overnight with our dog in a comfortable cottage!…read more We booked the basic studio. The bed was not super sturdy but it was comfortable enough for a 1-night stay. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious and large, with a full size tub/shower. There was a mini-fridge and a coffee maker. The cottage we stayed in had two studios, with a shared wall. Unfortunately we could hear the people on the other side of the wall whenever they were talking (and unfortunately they were talking very early in the morning), so keep that in mind if you're sensitive to noise and booking a studio. Right outside our cottage was the fire pit, which was lovely in the evening with supplies for s'mores! We loved how dog-friendly this property was. There was a dedicated pet relief area that was fully fenced off. The continental breakfast starts at 8:30 and has a decent selection. Check-in and check out process was easy. Parking was right outside the gate along the property. We would stay here again.

Food was so-so, indoor hot tub didn't work properly and was running most of the night. Overall, it wasn't a good experience for the hefty price tag we payed. Update: The owner of Avalon, Hilary, has contacted me a couple of days ago, expressing sincere concern about our disappointing stay at her B&B back in April 2007. It is a good sign that she is taking reviews and opinions about her business serious, as every competent business owner should. I attribute the somewhat mediocre experience to her absence and I am sure that our experience would have been different if the family would not have been out of town during our visit. I have to echo the two other posters in regards to the rooms and surroundings of the Avalon Bed & Breakfast. The room we stayed in was in impeccable condition, the picturesque surroundings and tranquility we got to enjoy on the patio were perfect, except for the above mentioned problems. That's the sole reason I can't give it 5 stars. However, Hilary has since offered us a free night at her establishment, which is a nice way of trying to remedy our experience. It shows she truly does care about her guests and patrons and we might take her up on her offer.

The lodge has a super cozy forest atmosphere, it's very quiet, relaxing, and the hostess was incredibly kind and welcoming. It's the kind of place where you can truly disconnect and enjoy nature. We'll definitely be back -- I still need to settle unfinished business with the local fishing spots because I forgot my "lucky lures" at home Only a couple of tiny things that could maybe be improved: the coffee wasn't really our favorite, and the BBQ area could use a little love. But honestly, that's just personal taste. Overall we had a great stay and really enjoyed the place.

The internet was so bad you couldn't even watch tv or your your phone (zero cell service so you really need to rely on WiFi which clearly was bad bad.)The couch looked like it with through 30 lives with the amount of stains, I didn't bare to sit on it. The shower also immediately flooded above the ankle when showering. I have photos of sheets with black mold on it. Idk just seems someone bought the property with no actual property management skills and I understand it's Guerneville, I get it, not looking for 5 stars but lord this place was like a trap house inside the hotel rooms. Also I left a lighter outside my room and walked to the market (50 feet away) and the maintenance guy took the lighter than proceeded give me another lighter (after approaching him) which was filled with weed/hash all over the bottom. The couple next door said he did the same thing to them) Overall it kind of was the expectation of a cheap room in Guerneville. Kinda sad since the adjacent Rio Nido Roadhouse is the coolest place in Rido Nido. Gave them a 5/5.
