Over the years when I had any concerns or desire for change, new thermostat for instance, their response was prompt, efficient and friendly. Last year (2025) after I sold my home, I was preparing for my Capital Gains Tax liability and could not locate the paperwork for the 1996 purchases. I had a very disappointing experience with Rusher Air Conditioning. I reported an issue with my AC to my property management on a Saturday, but no one from Rusher showed up until Wednesday -- four days later. The technician, John, was at my home for a few hours and only added a bit of Freon to the system. He mentioned there might be a Freon leak and noted the system was showing an E1 error code, but didn't take further action. The next day (Thursday), two more technicians came out to find the leak. They arrived at 8 a.m. and stayed until around 1 p.m., going back and forth repeatedly without clear communication. That evening, when I finally turned the heat on to 75°F, a loud and persistent noise started coming from the motor area, which continued throughout the night. I contacted the property manager again, and another technician arrived around 10 a.m. the next day. He spent three hours diagnosing the issue and discovered that the previous team had failed to tighten or properly secure the screws on the lid, which caused the noise. To make matters worse, the E1 error code came back even after all that work. The technician, John, then asked me multiple times to assist by turning the AC on and off while he was on the roof -- despite me explaining that I was working and didn't have time. I asked if someone could be sent to help him, but he said no one was available. In total, I spent nearly 10+ hours over three days dealing with this issue -- and the problem still isn't fully resolved. If this continues, I will definitely request that my property manager no longer use Rusher Air Conditioning. The delays, lack of coordination, and poor workmanship were incredibly frustrating. UPDATED: After technician John left on Friday around 1 p.m., I turned off my AC system at 8 p.m. Later that evening, within about an hour and a half, I began hearing a rattling noise coming from the motor located in the bathroom area. A few minutes later, the noise happened again. This issue is something I've been dealing with since Wednesday, and unfortunately, it still hasn't been resolved. Based on this experience, I no longer have confidence in the Rusher Air or their ability to provide professional service. The technician clearly lacked the necessary preparation and knowledge to handle the job properly. He repeatedly called the office every few minutes for instructions, didn't bring basic tools such as screws or a step ladder, and even asked me to provide them. He also came alone and needed assistance working on the system. This level of service is unacceptable. I feel it's necessary to file a formal complaint to Department of Consumer Affairs Contractors State License Board, not only about the poor service but also to recommend that the company's license and employee qualifications be thoroughly checked. No homeowner should be put in this situation after hiring what should be a professional HVAC service. read more

Value, the estimate was half of the competition. The installation was far more difficult than I expected, but the result was excellent. The final cost was within 10% of the estimate. Replaced tankless water heater that has split duties to provide plumbing hot water but also to provide hot water to coils that the heat / AC fan distributes. (Think radiator or Italian heating units designed for efficiency rather than electricity in a building without natural gas.) read more

He swapped out the filter and reset the breaker for $160. Our 32 year old furnace stopped working. We knew it would stop eventually, but did it really have to die during the coldest winter months? I called a few different furnace installers looking for quotes on a new system. One of the places that I expected to be lowest, ended up being the highest - with that quote not including major surgery to include cutting additional holes in our walls to create a second intake. Rusher was the only one out of the group that suggested possibly seeing if our old furnace was repairable! At least to get us through this cold spell. Sure, why not.... Our technician was John, and he was so honest, and personable, and hilarious...he fixed our furnace for an absolutely affordable rate. I was impressed then, but this year as the weather cooled, my heater would not fire up. I tried to fix the thermostat and was unsuccessful. He was super friendly and within a minute, he had verified the heating unit was working, but the thermostat was broken. Its that time of year when we check our heaters to make sure all is functioning properly.... well my 83 year old mother called a DIFFERENT heating company ( with the name American in it) only to be told that she need MAJOR repairs, and that there were signs she'd almost had a fire, etc.... scare tactics ALL the way... My 23 year old A/C unit went out about a month ago. I called Rusher Air and they sent someone out within a couple days. It could have been repaired for about $3000, but there was no guarantee that something else wouldn't go bad, so the decision to replace the unit was pretty simple. All of the details and measurements were carefully explained and documented along with an estimate for the work. They took pictures throughout the process. The first service guy was very professional and patient with my questions. Once I accepted the contract, I was on the schedule and only had to wait about 10 days (4th of July holiday was in there). The placement of the A/C unit, as well as the placement of the furnace (in the attic) made this a fairly complex job. All of the servicemen were so polite and they went above and beyond to protect my floors and to clean up after the job. They were here for 2 days and had an excellent attitudes considering the working conditions. I would highly recommend Rusher Air for any air conditioning needs! I get home from a ski trip with the family the day before New Years Eve and find out that our furnace is not heating. Now SoCal is generally warm but it was not so at the end of the year. Woke up this morning (Friday) to a house with no heat. Started calling Rusher around 8:30. No one answered the phone so I left a detailed emergency message, and then a second one about an hour later(still no one answering the phone). Finally got a live human around 9:30 and made yet another plea for help. I might add I have been a customer of Rusher for at least fifteen years, possibly twenty. Finally got a phone call from them at 1:15. Told the gentleman he was about four hours to late as I had found a responsive company on a google search. I had Rusher install a new ac/ heater in my 1 bedroom condo. The units in my building have basically the same system as a house so it's really expensive. I got a mid version (not the loudest or quietest) with an allergy filter. Price seemed good, people seemed nice, my mom was here to be available while they worked. (She doesn't trust people to work when in not home.) Everything seemed great, no surprise costs, done in the time allowed, straight forward, they were nice. However after a month I got a scary letter from my HOA saying that the was an hole in the roof that I'd be charged with repairing unless I arranged for it to be fixed. Needless to say, WTF. I called and emailed letting them know about the issue and that i expected them to fix this at no additional cost, as it was something they should have taken care of, which they agreed to I'm actually lucky i had an HOA to tell me. If I had a house, I probably wouldn't have any idea until the first major rain. They did fix it but I received a bill. I called and emailed again reiterating that they had agreed to cover that cost, which they confirmed. So, a year later I'm thinking I should probably change my air filter. When I checked to see what size & model i should order, well, turns out they didn't even bother to put a filter in. Thanks for the year of allergies. Now I'm not even sure whether they even installed what they said they did. It heats & cools, but for $7,000 I think I should have more confidence. I've called multiple times to ask about the filter. I can't tell from the hardware what I'm supposed to get. No response. All in all, I'd say they're relatively cheaper than others but maybe get someone who knows about ac to check what you're getting. I hate to think that they scammed me, but their post sale actions make me wonder if they'll honor the warranty if I need it. I was thinking of buying a bigger unit in my building but wouldn't use them again if the ac needed updating and I'm not recommending them too my neighbors. Disappointing. read more

Our AC compressor at a rental property needed repair or replacement. Prior to calling Rusher, I had been dealing with multiple HVAC contractors (all dispatched through my home warranty insurance company) - after dispatching 3 separate contractors over the span of a month, they either never showed up or were unwilling to do the work. Called Rusher and the people they sent over 2 visits were all very friendly and professional. At the first visit, the contractor did a thorough inspection/evaluation of the old compressor unit and carefully discussed multiple options for repair or replacement, along with the pros/cons of each. Several hours later I was emailed a written estimate which turned out to be bang-on accurate, and less than a week later they had replaced the 37 year old compressor with a brand new, energy efficient unit. After the repair, I received a personal phone call from Scott Rusher (I presume one of the owners), who went over the details of the replacement and he also sent photographs of the new unit. I'd used Rusher before for my own heating needs and they were great. But in a pinch I needed to get help to my Mom who was suddenly without heat on these cold nights and Rusher came through big time. The unit was under the house and a pain to get to, but the tech made several trips back underneath to pull parts out of. It turned out that they had to replace part of the unit and they needed to order the defective piece. The tech did a great job of making my Mom feel comfortable throughout the process and of staying in communication about when they'd have the piece and be able to install. Ultimately it took a couple days and even though my Mom was staying elsewhere the tech came back and got everything up and running without her needing to be there. My mother-in-law called another HVAC company to do a cleaning of her wall heater before the season changes. What was supposed to be a $100 job suddenly jumped to $3000. It was obvious from the start that this guy was counting on her not questioning him when he told her that her heater was cracked and needed to be replaced... "How much is your family's health and wellbeing worth to you?" She called me and asked what we should do since she didn't trust him as far as she could throw him. I had known Scott from from high school and suggested we give him a call to get it inspected before we go any further. Scott had a guy out to her place by 9:00 the next morning and as we suspected, there was nothing wrong with the heater.
