They did have the Hurley bag which is identical to the bogg bag. I also saw a pretty yellow Stanley cup. The ladies at the registers are all friendly and efficient. They will ask if you want to apply for a Home Goods credit card. The store itself is well lit and was pretty organized and neat. I did find a Ray Dunn coffee mug as part of her mother's day gift.

I should move from Lexington to Winchester so I can live where stores offer this kind of value and service. The store is conveniently located on Main Street but seemed to have more stuff than the Lowe's superstore near me (where their inventory is a hopelessly disorganized mess). D&S Hardware is well stocked in the way hardware stores were before the big box retailers took over. I love D&S Hardware... not just the large variety of merchandise, friendly and knowledgeable staff and great value. I love the customer oriented attitude they convey and the entire experience of shopping there.

None of that bothers me. What I DO care about is being completely ignored when I'm standing right there trying to get help. The bakery at the Tates Creek Kroger has become a constant problem. Every. Single. Time. we go to the bakery, we are ignored. And I'm not talking about waiting a few minutes while someone finishes helping another customer. I mean standing there while employees clearly see us, make eye contact with us, and then continue doing whatever they're doing without acknowledging us. I KNOW THEY SEE US. I literally see them seeing us. Whether I'm trying to order something or my kids simply want to get a cookie, we are repeatedly left standing there like we don't exist. And this isn't an isolated incident involving one employee. It doesn't matter if we go at 6 AM, 12 PM, or 4 PM. Different employees, different shifts, same exact behavior. ALL OF THEM. At this point, it is incredibly frustrating. I shouldn't have to stand at the bakery counter and practically beg someone to acknowledge that I'm there. A simple "We'll be with you in just a moment" would be enough. Instead, we are consistently ignored. I'm not asking for employees to be cheerful, overly friendly, or to stop whatever they're doing the second I walk up. I'm asking for basic acknowledgment and customer service. This has happened so many times that it is no longer something I can brush off as a bad day or an isolated incident. Funny enough, we have MORE fun shopping at Aldi, talking to other patrons and then figuring out what our bill would have been elsewhere. Let me just say - we are saving between 40-60% off our previous grocery bill. It's truly shocking. It's more fun than the Target Dollar Spot! We still have the occasional Costco run, but even some of our Costco staples are cheaper at Aldi! Now, if only I can remember a quarter and all my reusable bags!

She's particularly fond of German cookies so every Christmas season I go and buy her a bunch of German cookies. They also had frozen apple strudel which I probably should have gotten. They have the Kringle too. They have beef schnitzel but I was looking for pork which I didn't see unfortunately. I did end up with some cooca dusted truffles and dark chocolate covered marshmallows as well. In the Aldi's "find" isle they had some really nice gifting ideas. Such as a fairly thick blanket but it wasn't what I was looking for. The sled candles were super cute as well.
