In my house, we've recently replaced Friday night date night with Aldi dates; we used to spoil ourselves with grocery delivery, but inflation and unexpected expenses tightened our budget. Funny enough, we have MORE fun shopping at Aldi, talking to other patrons and then figuring out what our bill would have been elsewhere. Let me just say - we are saving between 40-60% off our previous grocery bill. It's truly shocking. It's more fun than the Target Dollar Spot! We still have the occasional Costco run, but even some of our Costco staples are cheaper at Aldi! Now, if only I can remember a quarter and all my reusable bags! read more

I love Aldi's in general but during the Christmas season I love it even more. One of my good friends is from Germany and Aldi's has a great selection of German products that I can't find anywhere else. She's particularly fond of German cookies so every Christmas season I go and buy her a bunch of German cookies. They also had frozen apple strudel which I probably should have gotten. They have the Kringle too. They have beef schnitzel but I was looking for pork which I didn't see unfortunately. I did end up with some cooca dusted truffles and dark chocolate covered marshmallows as well. In the Aldi's "find" isle they had some really nice gifting ideas. Such as a fairly thick blanket but it wasn't what I was looking for. The sled candles were super cute as well. read more

I usually purchase produce and spinach wraps from this location. The store floor plan/layout is simple. Sometime, I can find nice seasonal buys, too. Pricing is decent and lowest in market. read more

Love Aldi, we save so much money and get so many groceries. Great products, so many favorites!

After a month-long Reno, this Aldi reopened yesterday. Since I was downtown, I thought I'd check-it-out. I stop occasionally when I'm on that side of town. While it's been freshened up, the biggest difference is the entrance which is now more open. You walk right into the colorful produce section. I'm sure there's a marketing ploy in that -- fruits and veggies at first glance. Otherwise, not much difference. Low prices remain with weekly specials. read more

We were in this side of town and stopped at this grocery store. We bought a bunch of items including avocados, bananas, and celery. The produce was really fresh and the prices were better than other stores for these items. Luckily we had bags in our car since you have to bring your own. We bought exactly $20.00 worth of groceries and felt we got good value for this amount of money. We liked the small size and the store seemed really organized. It seems that nuts and olives were quite a bit cheaper at this store. We also bought ranch dressing that was under one dollar and are excited to try the new brand. All in all I would shop again at this Aldi. read more

So I went to Aldi's today and I needed (wanted) to pick up a pizza and ice cream at 9 a.m. in the morning. After I did that, I went to check out. There were two gals before me with carts full of things. After they were done, I made my way to get my things checked out. The gal, cashier, ends up putting all my stuff in a cart left by another gal. The guy behind me has a cart and a lot of stuff. So I leave it to the public. What was the logic here? So when I end up leaving, I say " I guess I will take this cart then." The gal ends up telling me "No I need it." -_- I am kind of thinking to myself. "Why? What could you possibly need it for?" So is this bad etiquette on her part because she did not allow me to take two items in a cart or is this a norm where there is a surplus of one cart that always has to be kept at the register? And if so, why? Should Aldi have a bigger counter for a cashier to place things on if they should exceed an item limit and someone did not get a cart? I do not get it. Bring a quarter! I mean, if you want to use their shopping carts, you have to have a quarter. You will get the quarter back when you return the cart. I don't carry cash and totally forgot that tid bit today. I was hoping they had the baskets for those of us only looking to snag a few items. Nope... no baskets available. This is one of two Lexington ALDIS locations. It's off of New Circle Road and sits back, a bit hidden. You may not spot it unless you're specifically searching for it. When they first opened a few years back, I came here often to get select items that are cheaper here than your average grocery store. Now it doesn't seem like there are as many power finds. Milk is now like $2 a gallon. If you don't mind generic brands, you can save some money by shopping here. To me, I think it's a glorified Sav-A-Lot. No, they don't have a deli or the bomb fried chicken that Sa-A-Lot does, but the prices, selections, and generic brands are all similar at both stores. They used to boxes for you to take your food home in. You know, like the boxes from the food items that they did stomp down? They didn't have any of those available today. At least they didn't have them near the checkout lanes, or anywhere else that I spotted them. They don't provide shopping bags, so make sure you bring your own. This is the type of place my mom would hate. I don't think she even owns a reusable grocery bag. I can't imagine many of her generation being on board with this concept. This is my go-to Aldi in Lexington. Not only is it closer to my house, but it feels more friendlier and less crowded, I suppose. It's a basic, no-frills Aldi with great, affordable prices for decent food. Even the fruits and vegetables are good! When I'm actually able to sit down and plan out my meals for the month, I can come here and get about $100 worth of food for my family for two weeks, which is great. The same food at other stores *cough*Kroger*cough* could cost 2-3 times as much! I can't find every ingredient I need here, but definitely the main items/basics that I need to create my meals. (Then I just run over to Kroger or Walmart for any extra and/or obscure items Aldi doesn't have.) They also offer some organic and brand-name items too; it's not all Aldi's brand. In addition to food, this location offers a small assortment of household items and toys that is always different every time I come. Once, I found an outdoor sand table for my toddler for $30. Random. Don't forget to grab a quarter for the shopping cart! read more

I think the food here has a better than average taste. Store was very clean. Prices were at least $1.00 cheaper on most their items. I was very impressed with the vegetables and fruit. The presentation of the products is very basic. read more

I typically shop at the Aldi at Rojay Dr, with no problem, at least once a week. Today, because I was in the north side of town, I shopped at the Colesbury Circle location. My experience unexpectedly awful. The shelves, freezers, and bags were sparsely stocked and the cashier was unusually rude, especially compared to my positive experiences at other Aldi stores. I won't be returning to this location. read more

I love this place. The staff is friendly. The prices are low and the quality is above average. Always bring reusable bags and a quarter for a cart. They take cash and debit cards but no coupons or credit cards. If they could change one thing. I wish they were a little bigger as I want to see them carry more great stuff. Also if an item is a limited time item you should stock up on it. Sometimes they only get those once a year. read more

This was definitely a good place to save money. However, the front door didn't work and the employee out front did nothing to help us figure out how to get inside. So I pushed the doors myself. Then the employees were stocking which got in the way of looking at things. There was no apology and they seemed put out. At check out it wasn't any better. It appeared we were a nuisance to be there. I will go back for the prices but I will not expect helpfulness or friendliness! read more

Great store. Better than Save a Lot although it's the same idea. Their prices are super wonderful where Save-A-Lot's prices have gone pretty high for what it is. The store is clean and neat. I got a lot of produce and milk there because they have the best prices. Bring your own bags/boxes as they do not offer bagging. Also, bring a quarter to use their shopping carts. I usually shop at Aldi's for my fruit and some veggies. Their cereal prices are better than competitors and taste just as good as the name brand. I visit both locations and they bother have nice employees. They do not accept coupons though. They occasionally carry name brands like Kellogg poptarts. They have started carrying Gluten Free items which I've heard are much lower priced than other stores. You do have to out a quarter in to get your cart, but you get it back when you return it. You need to bring your own grocery bags or buy them there. It's how it allows them to keep prices lower. read more

I try to convince anyone and everyone I know to shop here. I may have lost some friends because I talk about this place that much! I love love love Aldi. Their fruits and vegetables are fresh and priced better than Kroger, Meijers, and for the most part, Walmart. Since what they carry is small compared to other grocery stores, this store won't be your be all and end all supermarket, and it doesn't try to be either-the two Aldi stores in Lexington are positioned next to another major supermarket. However, it is a great supplement to the place that you normally shop at. I love many products from the Aldi lines-Priano pasta sauce and pesto, Fit and Active whole grain waffles, pasta, and light ranch dressing, just to name a few. The stores are clean, parking is plentiful, and all of the staff is super helpful. Why pay 30-50% more for the same product at Krogers? Makes no sense. Everyone-shop at Aldi's! read more

I teach "Meal Planning On a Budget" as a Life Skills class at a local drug and alcohol treatment center. We play a game similar to The Price is Right. I buy about 15 items from Aldi and line them up on a table. The goal is to guess the correct price of each item without going over. Everyone is very surprised at the low prices. It does matter where you shop if you are trying to stick to a budget. The quality of food is high as well. read more
