Stepping Stone Farm - The BEST strawberries around!

We absolutely LOVE Stepping Stone! It is our family's favorite place to go…read more We get a season pass every year so the kids can play through the summer and fall (and as a bonus, it includes admission to special events and festivals). The playground is a huge hit--there's a large slide structure, jumping pillows, and plenty of smaller play options for toddlers. My favorite newer addition has been the fall corn maze--such a fun experience! After playing, the kids love grabbing a treat or ice cream in the market. In the market, I usually stock up on cider, preserves, and fresh fruit--and I always grab a bottle of Wise Bird Cider (so good). They also offer baking mixes, vegetables, meats, and more. You'll find seasonal favorites like strawberries, apples, and pumpkins throughout the year, and everything is consistently fresh and delicious. We make it a tradition to buy strawberries in May, grab peaches during the summer, and pick apples in early fall. Stepping Stone also serves as a wedding and private events venue, and I often see school field trips there as well. The owners and staff are absolute sweethearts, and it's clear they genuinely care about what they do. They're wonderful community partners, and it really shows.

I of course went to pick some strawberries and there was a great selection as they had just opened for the season. They also had plenty of berries in their store you could just walk in and buy some along with some vegetables, fresh baked goods, jams and pickles, frozen meats and local dairy products. It was a nice way little afternoon trip.

Upon entering the barn style store, we noticed very quickly how the inside was clean and staff were friendly. We got a few things to try at home like the fudge and doughnuts. We also got some food: BLT, burger, chips, drinks, etc. There are a lot of places to take beautiful fall photos. We were 3 adults and a toddler, thankfully we paid a reduced price to enter the activity area because only the toddler did anything & it was too cold / wet to do most of the activities. She loved the petting zoo area & had a blast in the corn pit. I recommend going even on a day the sun doesn't shine. Be sure to wear boots.

There's something for everyone here. My friend and I visited on a Saturday afternoon and had a great time. We found a spot to sit and enjoy the atmosphere while sipping on apple cider mimosas & slushies. The slushie was my favorite for sure. They have several options for hard cider on tap as well as a variety of food options. We took a hay ride and attempted the corn maze. There's a store with so many different products for purchase. Apples, cider, donuts, jams/jellies, honey, spices, baking mixes, and so many more. I was surprised at all the things they offered. For family fun there's a play area with slides and other kid friendly activities. Admission and parking are free. You pay for any activities that you would like to participate in. A great way to spend a Fall day.

Located at 1447 Woodlawn Rd in Shelbyville Kentucky is Blues End Farm. This is a family owned…read morefarm that specializes in U-pick blueberries, maple syrup and pasteurized eggs. I will start with the location, i'm from eastern Kentucky so going out in the country on a small narrow road is nothing for me. For some it might be like am I going into BFE? Don't be scared with the narrow road it's in excellent shape...just take your time. The location is beautiful. Once you pull up to the farm, you will see a sign that says pick to the right and you can park in the pasture right before you get to the blueberry bushes that are knitted off. There was four different types of blueberries when I visited. The girl was very nice showing me where to go to pick. I was looking for blueberries that would make a good jam and also ones that I could freeze for blueberry lemon scones. I did appreciate that they only sell so many tickets per day so you can really take your time and enjoy the blueberry picking. This is the first time that I have been blueberry picking, and it's definitely more delicate than a strawberry or blackberry. it was the perfect day to be one with nature, picking such a delicate, beautiful fruit. They do have buckets to pick blueberries if you don't have one of your own. After you pick your blueberries, you can drive down to the main house where they will weigh your berries you can pay with cash, Venmo, or Apple Pay. Blues End Farm also had different varieties of maple syrup and jelly that day. I'm so fortunate to have this gem close to home. You can go online and purchase your pick tickets. Please give them a visit and support your local farmer. Overall it was a Berry Good Time!!!!
