Runza is so amazing! I can't believe I've never came here in all my trips to Denver! Ok so this is located a bit north of Denver but what is an hour drive for a chance to get Runza? It was very busy today but the food was great and the staff handled the crowds extremely well. This morning I woke up, like most mornings, and I pondered how to get a Runza. Fortunately this morning since I was in Denver, I could actually get one in real life, not just fantasyland. Side note if they ever do import Runzas into Disney's fantasyland that would be amazing! Here I should explain- Runza is a chain of quick serve restaurants based out of Nebraska which sell the most amazing sandwiches ever which are called runzas. Once you've become addicted to these sandwiches from heaven it's hard to look at another fast food option. The classic is a little bread loaf with ground beef, cabbage, onions, and spices baked inside. There are various versions which split the sandwich open and add toppings like my personal favorite the spicy jack runza with bacon and (shocker) spicy jack cheese. So after making the jaunt up I-25 from Denver and visions of runzas dancing through my head I finally found the green and yellow sign welcoming me home. I went through the extremely crowded lot and quickly discovered why it was so busy. On Tuesdays with a meal purchase you can get a runza for whatever the low temperature was last Tuesday. Apparently last week it was 0 so free runzas! I ordered mine to go as the dining room was full but I had immediate regrets so I ate outside. The first bite of the bbq bacon runza was amazing followed by several more delicious bites until it was gone. Then it was time as the wrapper was being unwrapped in pretty sure I heard an angelic choir. The spicy jack runza. It lived up to the hype. It always does. As I savored every bite I couldn't believe I was finally experiencing this. As the Darius Rucker setting came to mind "This" I thought about all the stoplights I did and didn't make. All the heartbreaks. And it lead me here to this. I'm bringing some home to Vegas assuming I can get them through the airport. Runza is amazing, you have to try it one day. If you get the chance to come here it's about an hour north of Denver but well worth it. It's now on my list of places to go when in Denver (assuming I'm not either going to or coming from Nebraska where they have lots of Runzas.) read more

How can you not like Runza? Yeah they are an "ok" burger joint and i never tried their chicken sandwhich but... who goes to a steakhouse and orders the chicken!? You go to Runza to eat a Runza! Regular, Cheese, and my favorite the Swiss Cheese Mushroom Runza's are all amazing! They bring me back home everytime. The breading is always soft and fresh. The fillings are hearty enough to bring you back to Nebraska with their great beef! There is a reason these restaurants open up and stay in business for years... I'm always told by out-of-state visitors that when they come back to Nebraska they have to eat Runza for at least one meal each time or its not a successful trip back to Nebraska! Why is there not more Runza's in world? Because the franchise is WAY expensive to buy into. The company only wants serious restaurant owners who strive to succeed in what they do. I haven't heard of too many Runza's that have opened up and went under. Also try the chili when the weather gets cold. I would argue that it tastes similar to what you could imagine your grandma making as homemade chili! I'm a Denver native and a graduate of The University of Nebraska. My first Runza experience back in college made me a lifelong fan! I got my whole family hooked on them when they'd come to visit. Now that I've moved home, I've been known to make the hubby take a drive to Loveland on a weekend just to eat here. The mushroom swiss Runza is my favorite! Their cheeseburger is awesome - just like my great aunt Donna makes. The fries rock -- make sure you get ranch for dipping! They have the BEST ranch. If you want some Runzas for home, call the day before and they'll make sure they have frozen ones ready for you to buy! read more

After moving here I passed this place all the time and laughed. Honest, to GOD the first thing that went through my head the first time I saw this place's name was, "because it RUNZA through you"! I never ate there because of its name until a co-worker said she was gonna go there and asked if I wanted anything. This girl is the canary in the coal mine of dining. Everything upsets her stomach. Great local fave. Runzas are a midwest classic. Have been there many times and it has always been good. Locally-owned. The owner must be having a bad day or perhaps he is just naturally a jerk. There was a communication error at the window. Simple, one has bacon and one does not. The poor kid at the window said "Red wrapper, does ... I heard does not, he said he said just does. Small mistake, but the owner stands behind they made the food correct. I love the food at Runza. A hamburger tastes much different here than at other fast food joints. Even compared to Wendys the flavor is superior. This location is quite small and (understandably) quite busy at lunch time. Again the food is good, though the presentation at times can be a bit rushed. read more

The eponymous dish is a satisfying, filling pouch of goodness. The real standout for me at Runza is the honey mustard, however. It might secretly come on a truck and not be homemade at all, but it is very good nonetheless. Runza is either a local drive through favorite or something you're glad you tried but wouldn't necessarily go running back. I am with the latter grouping. I have friends that moved from the Front Range area to another state and when they came back for a visit they couldn't wait to be going to Runza. It's a Hot Pocket of hamburger meat, cheese, onions, mushrooms, etc. (they have different choices in the lineup) instead of the 'ol traditional hamburger. However, they offer their own traditional burgers too which are in fact better than a couple of fast food chains I could mention. It's worth a try especially if you really like fast food but mostly because these establishments are a rarity so you have to get it when you can. read more

I love Runza! Like the previous review, my first experience with Runza was back in college in Nebraska. I'm glad that there is a Runza in Colorado, but Loveland just seems so far away. I can't for the life of me figure out why there isn't one in the Denver Metro area. Plain Runza, cheese Runza, mushroom Runza, I've had them all and I can recommend them all. The fries and onion rings are always cooked just right, not too crispy and not too soggy. I'm not sure about the other types of food because I just can't bring myself to order anything else there other than their specialty. When we get fast food in Loveland, this is our first choice. If you don't like the Runza (cabbage and ground beef pocket sandwiches), try their burger- it's very good with a real thick sliced tomato, fresh onion and lettuce. My daughter highly recommends their chicken sandwich, again with a real tomato and lettuce. Onion rings- fresh made, and delicious. It's fast food fare...burgers and fries. I've eaten here many times, and can't remember being disappointed. Everything is always cooked properly (an important thing for me) and is served hot. They don't make anything before you order it, so service can be on the slow side, but having hot food more than makes up for it. French fries are best in town. Friendly, fast service. Everyone was very cheery and the establishment was clean and well managed. There was an order to everything and that was pleasant. Now I am not a fan of their food (I tried it twice) but my order was always accurate, hot and fresh. I can't fault them for that, and they take pride in what they do. I came here for lunch as I was passing through town. I have had Runza in Nebraska before, so I had some idea of what to expect and what the fare was. Being somewhat adventurous and wanting to experience the goodness that I remember from a quick through the Cornhusker State, I ordered a Beef Runza Combo with a Root Beer. I got my food pretty fast, but then I remembered that I was much younger the last time I had Runza, and that I am no longer all that impressed with overprocessed American Cheese. Also I expected more from the bread which seemed to be just a bit over cooked. This was just sightly better than a Hot Pocket. I enjoyed the crinkle fries. They were a bit on the salty side but just did well enough that I could handle eating them without the ketchup I asked for. (it wasn't in the bag.) All in all, I would go here again only when I can't remember this visit... Luckily, I am not in Loveland all th.at often read more
