And in dropping the heavy bundles of shingles on the roof I think they damaged them in the process. Several of the shingles installed had damage on the leading edges. When the old roof was being taken off a strip of metal fell down and hit my window. Fortunately it did not break it. In the process of removing the old roof the workers bent the metal flashing on my rain gutter on one of the inside corners. Several nails on the roof vent were not caulked. They gouged a hole in the side of my porch to install a portion of the roof. I had a strip of rain diverter at the edge of the roof where the a/c unit is that was not replaced and put back. I was told that no metal flashing was going to be used in the valley of the roof and after installation there is metal flashing exposed. They broke a branch on a bush in the front. There were several pink wrappers from the shingles left behind and twelve nails (and counting) I have picked up thus far. They left an oil stain in the driveway. Communication was non existent. And a day later is when they wanted to send a manager to do a walk through. I am still able to get up on the roof to find out what kind of poor workmanship was done. I can't imagine what other customers miss when they are not in a position to inspect their own roofs. One thing is true that the salesman told me when he initially came out. You never know what kind of work was done until years later when there is failure. I won't really know the quality of their workmanship until years later. With what is visible to me in their installation I wish I had gone with another company.

He took his time with the inspection and took a lot of pictures. When he was through, he told me that he could not make the repairs and explained to me what the builder had done incorrectly. I appreciate his advice, his honesty and the patience he displayed with my continuing to text him with all my questions. Thank you Gary for answering my questions with speed and relieving some of the stress I was feeling from having issues with a home that is only three years old. While there are aspects of the project that we feel they did a good job with (mainly the pergola), we feel it's important to warn other potential customers of the issues we have experienced working with them. First, this company uses subcontractors, and unfortunately, many times they didn't show up at all to perform the work they were scheduled to do or performed the work incorrectly. This led to significant delays throughout the project and was extremely frustrating. It put us in the position of constantly following up to ensure the work was done and done right. As an example, the concrete steps we asked them to build were initially very narrow and a safety hazard. We asked them to correct that. Our pergola was not built correctly according to the design, and we had to ask them to correct that as well. The railings around the patio were installed incorrectly, and again we had to ask them to correct this. We understood that the stain of the existing patio may never perfectly match the new concrete patio but the colors are not even close. Dominic was our main point of contact with Freedom and was apologetic every time this occurred (which was frequently) and let us know the excuses the subcontractors provided. They did make these corrections, but what I'm not sure Dominic (and Allen) with Freedom understand is that this is absolutely a reflection on their company when they hire subcontractors that either unreliable, incompetent, just "don't care," or all of the above. Unfortunately, they had already stained our concrete steps so when they did fix the prior sloppy work, the stain didn't match the remaining patio. The biggest complaint that we have with them is that once the entire project was complete (in April 2023), within a month the concrete overlay that they had put on our patio to match the extended patio we built (which it never did) started to deteriorate in a section of the patio. (We now know from speaking with others who have knowledge of concrete work that this overlay was not installed correctly from the beginning). We immediately informed them of the issue and 3 months later (after repeated texts) they repaired the section of damaged overlay without restaining. In other words, we had a large white patch of concrete on our brown stained patio for another 2-3 months. Again, after repeated texts and excuses, they finally let us know they would be sending someone out to stain the patched area of concrete. We had asked them to ensure that the patched area matched the remaining concrete and asked them to fix the issue with the entire patio being multiple different shades of stain. To this they asked us to either pay $3800 to correct the poor staining all done on our patio by THEIR contractors or only stain the patched area of concrete for free. We absolutely refuse to pay Freedom more for THEIR work that was not done right to begin with and agreed for them to only stain the patched area (with the expectation that it would, at least, match the existing patio). Of course, it doesn't and looks awful. I included a picture here so you can see how bad this looks. We are now left with a concrete patio that is 4 different shades of brown and is an eyesore. We have texted Allen and Dominic multiple times to ask that they do the right thing and restain our patio so that all of THEIR work is one color. What is very disappointing is they are not even responding to us anymore. There is no sense of wanting to do the right thing for their customer or even taking pride in the work they are doing. It is very disheartening that after trying to be understanding with them throughout all the delays/failures in the project once they got their money they really didn't seem to care. Allan/Dominic/Freedom Outdoor Living, if you are reading this and would like to correct your staining work on our patio and make this right, we would gladly welcome it and be happy to amend this review.

They were installed over the original plywood panels (using it as the substrate), which eliminated most of the potential demo (and the mess of demo!), and gave us a faster completion time. The crew took the right amount of time to do it right - I really appreciate this kind of professionalism. The crew showed clear knowledge and experience for properly installing Hardie products, which is key to a quality finish and long-term resilience. The entire crew had wonderful attitudes about the work and were easy to talk to when something needed to be discussed. The project manager supported the crew well, was very fast to respond when they needed additional materials. He checked in with me and the crew regularly, and pitched in to help when needed. We had some areas that presented challenges to the siding crew especially the walls behind our HVAC and city utilities equipment -- the crew did an amazing job installing around these items and still making the siding look great. All of the siding and trim work look really great and give our home a fresh new look.

A real human answered the phone the first time I called (I don't really love artificial humans answering calls); 2. Another (separate) human showed up to my house THE SAME DAY (today) to check it out and write me an estimate; 3. Unlike other companies the estimate I received was a beautiful and legible TYPED UP PDF SENT VIA EMAIL - people... do you know how amazing that is? If you could see the handwritten gibberish that I've been left with, you'd understand. 4. Their prices are competitive, and while you're paying a few dollars more (really not much) you're getting a fantastic value from a company that shows up and does what they say they're going to do. The part that really blew me away was when the estimator heard how frustrated I was (with the other companies) and said he wanted to try and get a crew out to my house in 2 days to do the work. When the dispatcher informed him that a crew wasn't available he looked at me and said "don't worry, I'll be here on Saturday and I'll do it myself." I felt bad (who likes working on the weekend?) so I asked if he would at least get a bonus or some kind of compensation for the additional work that's surely above and beyond his normal line of work. THAT'S WHEN HE TOLD ME HE'S THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY. Friends. I couldn't. I still can't. I'm so excited to have found this company. This will be my go-to window cleaning (and pressure washing, and gutter cleaning) vendor from here on out. This is a quality company with quality people at the helm.
