UPDATE: Have now taken a few more classes. Some further mulling:…read more 1. I missed the memo that you don't have to switch between rounds. Obviously most people do but you have the option of doing all 4 rounds of floor or all 4 rounds of treadmill. I was majorly confused when not everyone made the switch but apparently you can just stay at the same station the whole time. But anyway, you have the option of booking a Double Floor option if you don't want to do the treadmill. 2. There is a *vibe* here and frankly, it gets on my nerves. Not enough for me to stop going altogether but it is a huge pet peeve to see people on their phones during a round (not even during a break) and taking selfies/scrolling Instagram. You may say, "Joy, be a big girl and just ignore them." You'd be right but it is a) hugely distracting and b) disrespectful to the instructor. I get it, we're all addicted to our phones, but there's a diff between quickly checking your phone for an email versus being on IG for minutes at a time. 3. I do think some of the instructors could demo the moves more, rather than punt it to a random person and say, "Everyone, look at [NAME] and see what she does!" As it was, the transitions are so quick, I again copied what everyone was doing around me or ... just did my own thing. Which brings me to my next point. 4. A lot of the moves don't necessarily need to be done with the equipment that the instructors mention. In one of the classes, we did bicep curls with a band. I found it needlessly confusing and time-consuming to set up, so just did the same thing with a weight. Don't be afraid/too self-conscious to modify. 5. So far, my favorite instructor has been Harley, who teaches the Arms & Abs class on Monday evenings. His cues are super clear, he'll do the moves with the class, and he's very encouraging and kind. Great for beginners and regulars alike.

I first heard about Barry's a few months back when one of my friends mentioned trying his first…read moreclass in Nashville, and absolutely loving it. Because of this, my expectations were high and figured it would be similar to Orange Theory but better. I would like to preface that I honestly loathe running long distance though I will still do it to challenge myself. I had no idea what I was walking into other than the fact that there would be lots of running and that the classes alternate between treadmill running and floor exercises. The instructor was nice, however, most of the class I had a hard time understanding her due to the loud music and her voice just didn't sound clear with her mic. As others in the reviews have stated, they don't really walk you through the steps and really what's next. For treadmill run, jogging was done 5/6/7 and sprinting 7/8/9. At first, I have to admit I felt super intimidated because running is not my strong suit at all... but to my surprise, I held my own pretty well & it wasn't too bad. From this class experience, I do feel a little disappointed. I did not feel like the class was actually as challenging as I thought it would be or even how it's perceived on social media platforms. After class, I felt I could still go to another HIIT class, compared to when I had tried OrangeTheory once upon a time ago, my entire body was sore. The music playing during the working out was also not the best quality. I could barely hear the songs not due to the volume but because the speakers made the music sound muffled. Overall experience: 6.5/10

This gym help me lose 20lbs in the first year and another 15 the next year. I gotten a lot stronger, faster, and healthier. I'm very thankful for Coach Jason, Seth, and Emily. What I really enjoy about this gym is the members are very encouraging. They push you to finish your work out, not give up, and continue to participated. This isn't the type of gym that's competitive but the one to push better health. I never heard of crossfit when I first walked in the gym Here's what stayed the same: It's still a bit pricey at $197 at a full membership. There is a slight discount for students and first responders. There are drop-in packages if you don't want to commit for a full month. I honestly did just crossfit and it was very effective. There is also a weightlifting class that just restarted. Please contact the gym if you haven't done crossfit before because there is a trial class. Here is what have changed: The gym added rowing and Brazilian JiuJitsu class for the evenings ( I think 6:30 and 7:30 respectively and on certain nights). Brazilian JiuJitsu is really fun. If you are looking for a new gym or just wanted to work out, I highly recommend this gym. I am a person that usually don't know what I am doing but all the coaches really help here.

I went from couch to CrossFit Arsenal about two weeks ago and already know it's the best decision I've made in a while. The coaches demonstrate movements at the beginning of class then proactively provide guidance during the workout of the day. The members are down-to-earth, kind people. I am excited about losing weight, taking time for myself, building the strength/energy to keep up with my boys, and reclaiming long term health here. TLDR: Highly recommend the CrossFit Arsenal for its well-curated full body workouts and great coaches/community!

They will correct you if your form needs adjustments and will really encourage you throughout the class. I loved the culture where you have a circuit and if you finish earlier than your peers you cheer them on until they finish. I also want to give a special shout out to Coach Laurel who introduced me in the beginning of class to give me a warm welcome. She remembered that I was visiting from Long Beach and was here for the week in Boston and traveling to Vermont. I highly recommend to anyone who is interested in CrossFit. During COVID-19 I have had some of my biggest gains in virtual WODS with the chance to work on skills like pushups and double unders. While I am still transitioning back to the gym in person full time I have attended a few outdoor classes. CityLine continues to prioritize and maintain the health and safety of all their members while putting you through a hard workout and building community at the same time. I look forward to the at home WODS and going in to the gym every chance I get!

This is a review of their nutrition coaching, I'm actually not a member of the gym itself…read more I work out on my own due to weird work hours. I've worked out for years and have had very little to show for it due to poor nutrition. I was always aware of my poor eating habits but could never get them straightened out. I've listened to audiobooks on nutrition, started watching cooking shows, saw a nutritionist, bought a customized meal plan, etc. and none of that worked for me. I signed up for nutrition coaching here back in late March and it has been going great ever since. Nutrition coaching here has you take simple, actionable steps towards eating right, whatever your goals are. I've always been skinny and have struggled with putting on weight. My goal was to gain about 20 pounds. After nutrition counseling, through 10 weeks of attempting to gain weight, I am up 10 pounds and I can't believe how effortless it has become. I've seen more results working out these past 10 weeks than the previous years combined. This has always been a long-term goal of mine and I'm very grateful for the coaching here for getting me on track. Highly recommended. Thanks!
