When it was time to replace our laminate floors and the carpeting on our stairs, hallway, and…read morebedrooms, we compared options at Home Depot and several local carpet stores. A measuring technician came out, took all the dimensions, and directed us to the 1020 W. San Carlos location to review their full carpet selection. At the store, we explained what we were looking for, compared carpet features and pricing, and worked with Dominic--who was very accommodating. His total project cost was competitive with the other quotes we received. We also wanted new baseboards that would match our freshly painted walls and trim. Dominic arranged to have the primed (but unpainted) 16' wood baseboards delivered ahead of installation, giving us time to paint everything before the carpet went in. Tip Our new carpet and pad are very soft and plush--great underfoot, especially on the stairs. Because the new flooring sits higher than the original laminate, our bedroom doors needed to be trimmed by about half an inch. We cut the doors ourselves, but it's worth asking whether your installer can include that as part of the project. Pros * Dominic is a true carpeting professional--he anticipated our needs and offered thoughtful guidance throughout the process. * Both the wood and carpet installation teams did solid, quality work. Cons * Some door trim was scuffed as the installers maneuvered large carpet rolls through our narrow hallway and doorways, so a bit of repainting was needed afterward.

Instead, the associate I spoke with came across as condescending and dismissive. When I showed him a carpet I'd found online, he didn't really try to help or explain options; it felt like he just wanted to move me along. He repeatedly pointed out that the carpets I was considering were "cheap," and when he mentioned another one was around $4,000, it came with a "well, that's expensive -- what's your budget?" tone rather than an attempt to genuinely guide me. I went in because I'm not an expert and wanted knowledgeable advice, but I left feeling unwelcome and talked down to, which was disappointing given the positive reviews I had read beforehand.

I figured it would also be a good opportunity to check out their other items. To my surprise, the store was massive, almost like Hobby Lobby. I was thrilled I made the trip! Also, I wasn't able to find everything I wanted, even though their website showed those items as in stock at this location. That said, their prices are very competitive, which is definitely a reason I'll be back for more home decors and other items!

For years we have been searching for a good set of dining chairs to replace the worn ones at our dining table. It's a bit like the story of the three bears - quality varied greatly from place to place, either quality was too low or prices too high, or the style just didn't work wherever we went. Then one day, we happened to find the time and purely on happenstance on our morning walk, we wandered on in here to find a set of chairs that matched our existing table at a price that seemed quite reasonable after discount. Our shopping experience was low key.. we wandered in, looked all around for maybe 15-20 minutes and once we found what we liked, we actually had to flag down a salesperson to initiate the transaction. We never felt pressured at all during the whole time. The Delivery - PRO TIP WARNING: As Murphy's Law dictates, I happened to mistakenly schedule the furniture delivery on a day and time that I would not be home. That would not be a problem, except that to reschedule a delivery, there is a $49 surcharge once scheduled.. However, I called the delivery center to explain my situation, and the delivery came early on the scheduled day BEFORE I had to leave for my other appointment. BRAVO! Overall - 4.5 stars - a half star off for the mandatory penalty charge to reschedule a delivery. Again, they made every effort to show up early ahead of my other time commitment and like in the Olympics, they PLANTED the landing! And oh yes, the dining new chairs are wonderful! - and guess what, the chairs REALLY are made in Denmark.. works for me!
