There was a rule that you had to arrive at the gym an hour and a half before it closed or entry would be denied. The changing rooms had a really bad smell as they had not been cleaned in some time with the toilets being a disgrace where l had to bring in scented toilet blocks to mask the stench. Some staff could be rude towards members, there was never politeness or any personal touch. When my membership ended l went elsewhere l would never recommend this gym. If there was a minus rating here i would kindly give them a minus 1 star.

I've had pool guards politely step in to help teach my son and daughter to swim - just little tips to help the parental lessons. When I turned up without change for the pool lockers (it's a £1 coin), a member of staff took 90-something pence from me and told me not to worry about the pennies. The gym is good and personal trainers are available, and the main hall is used frequently for sporting tuition and markets. Even the canteen is pleasant with its view of the pool. Quibbles? The car park often gets rammed due to sheer popularity and you have to be at least 16 (I think) to look after another child in the swimming pool. This makes it a little awkward for me to take all three of our kids unless my wife joins us. Talking of kids, if you live in Glasgow make sure they sign up for their free "Kidz Card" as it gives whopping discounts here.

The biggest issue I have with Whitehill pool is the cleanliness of the changing rooms and also the temperature. I know it's normal for it to be cold when you get out of the swimming pool but this is something else. It is absolutely FREEZING and not only the but the showers are old and unpredictable and go from being BOILING to FREEZING in a matter of seconds. There is also the unmistakable and inexcusable smell of sewage coming up from the drains. The place really needs upgrading. It's a shame really because Whitehill is my nearest swimming pool. Laps is what I like to do the best and it's ideal because there are quiet periods where I can sometimes even have the pool to myself. It's just a shame that the facilities are so poor!

My mum also said this is where she used to take me when I was a baby so my memory of what it looked like years ago is very much a blur. When I entered it looked like a brand new centre but I heard it'd been recently done up and probably for the International Children's Games (ICG) Lanarkshire 2011. This is why I ended up here to film the swimming competitons. The staff where very helpful and the event was very well organised. I thought "how come they didnae use Blantyre Sports Centre?" but when you see the Dollan it's understandable. It was able to cope with the many children involved and that was many. They had plenty of space for changing and they have lots of seats for spectators, it really felt like I was at the Olympics as it had the look and vibe. They have a cafe in the foyer and I was looking for a room where I could upload my footage I had filmed and a kind member of staff offered me a studio. The studio looked like a dance/fitness studio and was a good size and there was some children using it for storing their stuff. I thought it was just a swimming pool but looks like it has more. I think I'll have to go again and I think I'll go with my mum, bring back some memories for her but this time with her grown up baby.

Well, if you're expecting something special, don't hold your breath, unless you're swimming under the water. It's really just had a lick of paint, and they've probably strengthened the big concrete supports too. The two chutes are only open at the weekend so during the week you'll have to check what times the pool is open as they shut it at certain times for swimming clubs and lesson classes. One new thing that I did notice is the big pool divider. They can shut a big gate half way along the pool to make it into two half pools. That's it I'm afraid. We've decided that we are still going to go down to the Aqua centre in Hamilton. It's just much more interesting and fun.

They have pigs, ducks, geese, snakes, cats, horses, sheep, donkeys, ferrets, llamas, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas and many more! They had lovely staff volunteers that were willing to show us the grounds along with information about the allotment gardens across the way. Overall a great experience for the family! I would recommend wearing clothes you don't mind getting dirty and Wellington boots. This farm can get pretty muddy, but it definitely doesn't stop you from having a great time. They also had a lovely play area for children in the front center where some ducks congregated. Overall a fun experience, can't wait to go back!

I saw a kids judo class going on when I was there with my friend to rent out a table tennis table, and the spacious hall allowed both activities to continue comfortably - and when a third group came in to play football, it still didn't feel cramped. For something a bit different, table tennis is only £4 a table to rent - for an unlimited time. The challenge is how long you can take advantage of that offer before you get bored out of your mind.

I visited here for a special event last year - a tea dance hosted by Cushion & Cake. It's tucked away off the Finnieston strip so be sure to check out your Yelp map before setting out, lest you get lost along the way. It's a hall which can be hired and set up how you fancy. For this event, there was lovely set out tables along the sides of the room with the middle left free for dancing. We were there for a few hours and generally the space was really nice and enjoyable - the only downside being there weren't really enough loos for the amount of ladies that were there. You can park on the street, and it's a generally nice space which would be worth looking into for a mid-sized event (it could probably hold up to about 60 people I'd guess!).

I used to love the Lagoon when I was a teenager! Every weekend I would don one of my many pairs of…read morefluorescent colored jeans, as was the style at the time (the green were my faves!) and head down to the Lagoon ice rink with my friends. There used to be a huge queue outside of spotty adolescents dying to get in so that they could hang around the edge of the ice rink but not actually do any skating, while the DJ (yes an actual DJ) played a selection of 90s dance hits. "Groove is in the heaaa-aaarrt." "We are the children of the night. We fight for the future of our nation." "Rhythm is a dancer. It's a source of passion." "Everybody's freeeeeee to feel good." And so on. We really did think we were the coolest things out at the time. Sigh, those were the days. I was devastated to hear that the ice rink is no more and instead it has been replaced with a sort of sports hall type thing where you can play and watch racket and team sports. There is also a gym but it is perma-mobbed so I don't use it anymore. The pool is quite good fun. It has a section for doing lengths but there is also a wave machine and what can very loosely be described as a flume. You can also have beauty treatments at the Lagoon although I have never sampled any myself. There are loads of really fun fitness classes such as street dancing, belly dancing, vibe cycle and loads of martial arts style classes. While I will never get over the loss of the ice rink of my youth, I do think the Lagoon has come a long way in the past few years and is a great place for anyone who wants to get a bit fitter as there is so much on offer at a reasonable price.

During the summer holidays it's probably best to go early in the morning as during the day it's usually choc-a-block as children under the age of 16 get to swim for free during school break.

If you have an East Renfrewshire Council Access All Areas card (library card) you get a discount on entry or any if the PAYG monthly memberships. The swimming pool varies between a pleasure and a torture. I've given up trying to do a decent number of lengths in a decent time as the only time the pool is open that I can attend are immediately after work or Saturday morning. There are always swimming lessons on during the week (group taking up 2 lanes, individual ones across the pool) and on a Saturday morning it's mobbed with pensioners who want to stand in the middle of the pool and talk rather than swim. The main pool will become busier and busier due to recent manpower cuts closing the kids/learning pool at peak times. The changing facilities are good and secure. Lockers mostly work with the obligatory dodgy 2 or 3. Mothers of kids learning to swim tend to occupy entire swathes of cubicles closer to the pool and the pool side showers which can be a bit intimidating as a single bloke. I use the health suite more than the pool and it's of a decent standard. The sauna has recently been refurbished and looks good. The steam room seems to need almost constant maintenance and every once in a while the forget to switch it on. No compensation for lost days either! I've never used the gym but it looks busy and I hear there are plans to expand it but God only knows where! There are often running and cycling classes taken place in and around the leisure centre. All-in-all it's ok but needs improvement.
