Signed up to their £40 a month membership, the one that allows you to use all of their facilities.
In their defence, I didn't go for a tour, was busy, had I, I probably wouldn't have signed up.
Went there for the first time today, walked into "gym suite 2" which LOOKED like a wee cardio room, except there was about 4 weight machines in the corner too.
Done a wee while on the treadmill and headed to the gym suite 1.
This was just a long, narrow room with about 8-9 weight machines and a fair few free weights. (along with those vibration plates and a suspension bar)
Problem being though is that the room is way too small to use anything properly, especially if it's relatively busy.
I used one machine and really couldn't stand it and left after only 30-40 minutes.
In my honest opinion, given the lack of equipment and space, I can't justify spending £40 a month, even more so that it is ran by South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture and had only recently hiked up their prices.
You'd think that maybe they would subsides monthly memberships, maybe not.
Prior to using the Dollan, I went to The Gym on Jamaica Street in Glasgow, open 24 hours and, although it didn't have a pool or sauna etc, was only £16 a month. Wee bit of a trek from EK as I go frequently.
There's better gyms about than the Dollan.
Didn't have a look at the pool but if you've got a family/kids to entertain I guess there's worse places for them to go. read more
