Whitehill Pool is pretty much just that; one big pool and a tiny kids pool where the "deep end" reaches just above my waist. There are no chutes here; no flumes; no frills; no fun! As basic as it is, it serves its purpose if you're simply looking to swim a few lengths, however I'd advise getting in early if you want to avoid dive bombing dafties and lane hogging old ladies.

The biggest issue I have with Whitehill pool is the cleanliness of the changing rooms and also the temperature. I know it's normal for it to be cold when you get out of the swimming pool but this is something else. It is absolutely FREEZING and not only the but the showers are old and unpredictable and go from being BOILING to FREEZING in a matter of seconds. There is also the unmistakable and inexcusable smell of sewage coming up from the drains. The place really needs upgrading. It's a shame really because Whitehill is my nearest swimming pool. Laps is what I like to do the best and it's ideal because there are quiet periods where I can sometimes even have the pool to myself. It's just a shame that the facilities are so poor!

After this wild workout everyone got a little paper bag full of tuck shops sweets, it was great! After the ice-skating my dad usually took us to the swimming pool, the river rapids were my favourite part and I could swim here for hours. I particularly remember the scary red dragon statue and the cave men who looked down on your when you were swimming round the pool, one of them was wielding a spear which I have to admit, was a little bit scary. They also have a huge play area with ball pools, slides, climbing walls - it just looks amazing. Unfortunately, my parents never let me go here and I feel that I've missed out. At the moment the play area pool is closed for major refurbishment, who knows what it will look like when it's finished? I think I might take a trip back soon for good old times sakes. A fantastic day out for all the family!

Drop off your keys as deposit for a locker key then crack on with your routine. Big plus for me is the daily rate charge. No contract and no hassle and great value if you're only attending a gym once a week like me. There are contract options available as well as up front options that offer good value for heavier users. Varied community of customers from those doing their own workout, to folk working through a tough routine with a personal trainer, to the folk on the weights. Staff friendly and helpful with any questions. It's a great local facility conveniently placed in Shawlands. Nice to have a bit of a view over Kilmarnock road too. Some members would hog equipment and tell you that they where doing a circuit with 3 items of equipment. There was a rule that you had to arrive at the gym an hour and a half before it closed or entry would be denied. The changing rooms had a really bad smell as they had not been cleaned in some time with the toilets being a disgrace where l had to bring in scented toilet blocks to mask the stench. Some staff could be rude towards members, there was never politeness or any personal touch. When my membership ended l went elsewhere l would never recommend this gym. If there was a minus rating here i would kindly give them a minus 1 star.

Banners along the streets marked that the critter skeleton was in town and observable at Kelvin Hall from 18 April 2019 through 31 July 2019. I was a little confused as the exhibit hall looked to be part of an indoor sports arena. It was a wee bit of culture shock for me, and I was like - am I in the right place. Sure enough, a worker at the front desk pointed me towards the exhibit. The T-rex was pretty neat and had a lit-up informational display approach. Is it glow in the dark ink or an electronic display, or just really bright ink... Walking around in the exhibit was easy as the floorpan was well designed for human bipedal locomotion. A gift shop by the exhibit hall exit provided physical offerings to remember one's experience(s) by.

That was until last night, when I discovered that the water in the taps in all the changing rooms is apparently not fit for human consumption. W-w-w-w-hat?! In a sports hall? Where there is no access to water that is ok for drinking (apart from in the gym). I visit Kelvinhall twice a week and have been drinking the tap water for around a year ... I was horrified. You'd think they'd put up a sign at least? Apart from that, Kelvinhall is closing for refurbishment sometime this year so don't expect anything flash at the moment. Here's hoping they do something nice with it for it's reopening (and sort out the water!)

There's only 3 stands at Scotstoun, but at £15 for a standing ticket (in advance) you can't complain about watching Glasgow's only pro rugby team. Watching rugby live isn't like watching it on TV, the atmosphere is much better than you'd expect for 6000 people. On match days you'll find plenty of small food trucks, a dedicated Guinness bar (pro12 sponsors) as well as the clubhouse which has a bar, food & pre/post match entertainment. There's a merchant stall as well as a kids zone to keep the wains entertained. The one difference between football & rugby games is that you'll find some of the players wandering around & taking part in passing circles with kids etc. If you've never been down to a rugby match at Scotstoun, then you're missing out on a great afternoon/evening. There's beer as well!

In line with the general run of Glasgow Council's pools, the centre is immaculately clean, and a gym membership covers all of the Council's sports' facilities. My mum also said this is where she used to take me when I was a baby so my memory of what it looked like years ago is very much a blur. When I entered it looked like a brand new centre but I heard it'd been recently done up and probably for the International Children's Games (ICG) Lanarkshire 2011. This is why I ended up here to film the swimming competitons. The staff where very helpful and the event was very well organised. I thought "how come they didnae use Blantyre Sports Centre?" but when you see the Dollan it's understandable. It was able to cope with the many children involved and that was many. They had plenty of space for changing and they have lots of seats for spectators, it really felt like I was at the Olympics as it had the look and vibe. They have a cafe in the foyer and I was looking for a room where I could upload my footage I had filmed and a kind member of staff offered me a studio. The studio looked like a dance/fitness studio and was a good size and there was some children using it for storing their stuff. I thought it was just a swimming pool but looks like it has more. I think I'll have to go again and I think I'll go with my mum, bring back some memories for her but this time with her grown up baby.

Well, if you're expecting something special, don't hold your breath, unless you're swimming under the water. It's really just had a lick of paint, and they've probably strengthened the big concrete supports too. The two chutes are only open at the weekend so during the week you'll have to check what times the pool is open as they shut it at certain times for swimming clubs and lesson classes. One new thing that I did notice is the big pool divider. They can shut a big gate half way along the pool to make it into two half pools. That's it I'm afraid. We've decided that we are still going to go down to the Aqua centre in Hamilton. It's just much more interesting and fun.
