Rudy has helped us several times handling electrical issues and upgrades inside and outside our house. He has even done troubleshooting over the phone with me, which has saved us lots of money, avoiding expensive visits from the home warranty electricians my insurer wants to send out. He is courteous, kind, and always willing to help his customers! read more

Rudy came out to give us a third opinion on our energy needs. I am so glad we called him. He was prompt, knowledgeable and honest. We had been told by two vendors that we needed 200 amps for our house which required trenching the street at a cost of over $30,000. Rudy showed us that the electrical work we had done recently was completely sufficient for our needs. I had recently reduced the amp level on my nightly Tesla charge which he thought was smart. He also told us to change all our lights to LED and a few others things. He tested many things on told us that were fine. I can wholeheartedly recommend Rudy if you want an honest opinion on your electrical issues. read more

Rudy is da bomb!!!!!!! He helped me with an electrical panel problem, and rather than suggest a whole replacement (like another vendor did) he was able to fix only the problem element. He's very knowledgeable, and was on time and very respectful. I would highly recommend him. read more

Terrible experience. Rudy did not show up twice for work times he scheduled. When I texted him after he missed the first appointment, he said he got sidetracked and asked if we could do another day. On the next scheduled day when he did not show up I texted again. Rudy said he overslept and asked to schedule for the next day. Rudy did not appear to understand that he caused us a lot of inconvenience and wasted time. He also left us with an nonfunctional oven. read more

Rudy is a remarkable electrician and person. Incredibly knowledgeable - he has seen every problem possible - and his trouble shooting skills are unsurpassed. Rudy helped uncover a major electric issue that was associated with aluminum wiring from original construction and addressed a major safety issue and provided peace of mind. Pricing was very reasonable. I'd highly recommend Rudy. read more

Great guy; fair, honest and real. Rudy helped fix some small electrical issues that were causing a major headache. He made sure the whole house was up to code (small house) and advised us how to handle any new issues that may come up. read more

It is so wonderful to do business with someone who is a positive fixture for many years in the neighborhood, and who also embodies the best of his profession. Rudy Rodriguez has always been involved - as a baseball coach, tireless volunteer at the local Solana Beach schools, and joyfully raising a terrific family in Solana Beach. He worked for 30+ years for SDGE before deciding to build a business of his own. He will honestly give you the best possible solution to any electrical need, big or small, business or residential and try his best to save money. He is one of the most ethical people I have ever met. I had other electricians tell me huge costs were necessary to bring my small home electrical panel into this century but Rudy was able to do it for a fraction of the cost. I can't recommend him more highly! read more

I just wanted to update my sdg&e bill. Since Rudy came out and found our crazy situation. My bill has been $130. For both months since. And I have been able to use my dryer instead of hanging my clothes on the line. I also don't have to un plug everything. Thanks for the awesome job Rudy. read more

Five stars to Rudy. We chose him from the YELP reviews and could not be more pleased. He responded immediately, gave us a very reasonable estimate and arranged a time to do the work. He showed up right on time and his work was great. He gave us excellent suggestions and when done, his work was so clean that we did not need to do any painting or drywall repair. I have saved his card and will absolutely use him for all my electrical needs. I highly recommend him. Thank you Rudy! read more

Rudy is not only a great guy, but a very experienced Electrician. He has done countless projects for many friends and associates of mine and has my highest recommendation. Rudy Rodriguez's card says "specializing in small jobs that nobody does". Well he did just that and much more! He came in immediately, fixed everything with a smile on his face and at a fair price. Rudy is a man with a very kind heart too. You will be sure to be pleased! read more

First and foremost, Rudy is honest. He is also extremely knowledgeable. I had some heaters installed in my older condo; much of the existing wiring is "funky" to say the least... I was impressed with his concern for how to properly fix the problems with safety in mind, as opposed to shortcuts. I'd recommend him to anyone searching for a great electrician. read more

Rudy is a true professional and a great guy on top of that. The service he provided was excellent. He knows his craft. Thanks Rudy!

Rudy is outstanding! He absolutely deserves a 5 star rating! We contacted him based on his Yelp reviews to perform an electrical inspection, update outlets, add lighting and do a TV installation in an older home we purchased in SB. He nailed it! He's incredibly knowledgeable, communicative, thorough, direct and honest. We will definitely work with him again and refer him to anyone who will listen. He's one of a kind. Thank you, Rudy! read more

I contacted Rudy today based on the reviews I read here and was not disappointed. My husband, who knows electrical issues to a degree, could not determine the problem with a GFI that had stopped working. Rudy performed just as the reviews said: experienced, knowledgeable, generous with his time, and just a stand up kind of guy. For sure we will call him for any future electrical issues. read more

I live in 1950's house that has had some electrical issues. Old wiring mixed with new. Rudy has fixed everything over the years, adding new when needed. Just this week I had a small outlet issue - cutting off power to a whole area of the house. Rudy called me back and helped me troubleshoot the problem over the phone. He explained it in easy terms & we got to the bottom of it. His electrical knowledge is like no other electrician I've know. ( we've remodeled & built many homes over the years.) If you want an honest smart electrician call RUDY. read more

Every time I have an electrical issue I call Rudy. He always returns my phone call, we set up a time for him to come by and he always fixes the problem. Most important, he saves me from spending too much on things that aren't necessary or over priced. He's honest and gets the job done. I've used Rudy for years and recommended him to many of my friends. read more

Rudy was getting new tires when I called and wouldn't be available for a while. A circuit in my bedroom had blown when a carpenter plugged his radial saw into an outlet while doing some work for me. Rudy spent 10 minutes talking to me about the trouble and gave me suggestions about how to fix it. I tried them and he was spot on! He said he was helping me as goodwill. Well, it sure was and greatly appreciated. I'll certainly call him again. I hope this review helps him get more new customers. read more

Rudy Rodriguez is an electrician who knows what he is doing, does an excellent job and will travel if needed. After paying a technician from United Plumbing & Heating for replacing a breaker that was never replaced and was not the cause of the problem, Rudy fixed the problem and helped me confront the owner about the dishonest technician and get my money back. Rudy is personable and extremely honest and I highly recommend him to anyone in need of electrical help. It is extremely rare these days to find a business/owner this honest and humble. This one is a blessing and a true angel on earth. read more

I also found Rudy after numerous attempts of finding an electrician. I read his beaming reviews and I am so glad I called him. He was professional from the moment he took my call to the time he finished the job. He removed an ancient range that was hard wired into our kitchen wall and installed an outlet for a new range. He set up the new range and took his time ensuring that it was all set and safe to operate. I highly recommend Rudy because he is honest, personable, hard working and extremely reasonable with his rates. Now that I have found Rudy, he will be our only choice for electricians in the future. Thanks, Rudy! read more

Rudy is an excellent electrician. He has done numerous jobs for us, rewiring a garage, putting in new electric outlets, upgrading electrical wiring that was funky, and trouble shooting an old duplex in Del Mar. He is the best and I wish he had a twin who was a plumber! He is friendly, helpful, and explains everything in plain English to the electrically challenged. Rudy came over to install an outdoor lighting transformer. He charged for time and materials. His installation did not work. He came back once and did not fix it. He would not text or phone me back. Rudy returned my call quickly explained he was out of town and Kyle is covering for him. Kyle made contact and we sent him drawings and intel by email which he confirmed and setup preliminary time to meet. 0900 July 11 Kyle called to get address and said he would be here at 1000 or shortly after to inspect our job. At 1100 Kyle was still not here. I tried calling, left message.. At noon i had to go to work. Sent Text, sent email, not a single reply. These are the facts and not opinions. July 13 update. Looking at Rudy's reviews (all great), maybe I just had a bad experience. Maybe he was having a bad day. Or maybe he has paid/asked friends to post on Yelp. I don't know. This review solely pertains to what he charged and his professionalism. I contested his charge. He was defensive and confrontational about it. His basic point was that he has a lot of experience and therefore is in his right to charge more. I told him I spoke to another electrician who would've charged half what Rudy did (others with knowledge said I was overcharged as well). He asked how old the guy was. He was younger than Rudy. Rudy then said he's older, therefore more experienced and better. A curious argument in my opinion. I then asked if my electrician was 60 years old (Rudy is in his 50s according to him) if that would've changed his argument. He didn't respond. That's how the conversation went. We were on a call and he either then hung up or got disconnected. I don't know. I've never posted on Yelp before. I told Rudy during the call that the only thing I could do was post a bad review of him. He said to go for it. So, here I am following his wishes. Perhaps the mundane task he did for me was done with the ultimate class. I can't say. Everything seems to be fine so I'm not contesting his work. As I said before, this solely pertains to his fees and professionalism. In my mind, any electrician could have done what needed to be done. Perhaps Rudy is the go to guy for complex jobs. I can't say. But, in my opinion and based on my experience, if you're looking for some standard electric work and don't want to be charged a premium by a guy who seems to think he's the greatest thing to happen to electricity since Thomas Edison, then don't contact Rudy. read more
