This company has the worst post construction customer service, buying a house built by them in 2024 for over 2 million, it took them 24 days to answer a email for post move in "punch list" for repairs because of poor quality or installation errors by contractors, we own a nationwide business and know quite well about customer service and reputation. Summary: Customer service is a paramount piece to any successful business and Ruckle Construction consistently dropped the ball. Having called Ruckle Construction earlier in the week, I scheduled a time to meet on location to get a work estimate. In order to submit a business proposal, I needed this work done in a timely matter and so I turned to Ruckle Construction to assist me. My business partner and I, along with local staff to let us into the building, waited for 15 minutes past the agreed upon time. I called Orion's cell: no response. I called the front office and they offered to "track him down" for me. 20 minutes after our appointment time, I got a call stating he simply forgot to come. No problem- we all make mistakes- so he rescheduled for later in the day. After reading the Yelp reviews I thought to myself "surely this is just one-off mishap." Later in the day, exactly 19 minutes before we agreed to meet, I get another call stating he had an emergency and will not be able to make it. Having cancelled another appointment I had to reschedule our meeting later in the day, this was very disappointing and I simply ended the call with "I understand, thank you and have a great day" realizing this isn't the type of business relationship that leads to a successful work product. I understand things come up and I equally understand we all have bad days; however, I do expect businesses to notify customers when they need to cancel appointments and I also expect businesses to find appropriate solutions to problems other than perpetually canceling. Based on the existing Yelp reviews, I have no doubt that Orion and team do a fantastic job; however, my experience wasn't inline with others' experience. Since Yelp is a place to share candid business feedback, I wanted to share my story in the hopes that it will help others looking to schedule work with Ruckle Construction. Wow, what a fantastic experience! We had huge plans for our garage renovation and our hopes and dreams were crushed when our initial contractor fell through! We looked on Yelp and came across Orion and Ruckle Construction, we contacted them and within a day Orion came out to meet with us. We had plans and a proposal by weeks end. The proposal was very detailed and had everything we discussed plus some other great ideas that Orion had come up with. Once we gave the okay on a Friday, the work began on Monday morning. Orion and his team of very friendly, efficient and talented workers brought our dreams to reality and two and half weeks later we have the amazing garage we have always wanted! The project was a full gut and renovation with a bonus attic that we didn't even know was possible! The process seamless that we can't wait to get started on the rest of the house! I would not recommend this contractor to a friend, neighbor, or stranger. We went with a big box company for a previous addition and decided we wanted to go with an independent company for our second addition. Unfortunately we were given their name as a recommendation. To be fair the work is nice now hat it is completed. However the pain getting their was more than anyone should have to do when paying this premium price. We had the plans drawn up by our designer who is meticulous. They could not follow his plans. They could not stay on schedule. Even the schedule they set. They could not get their sub contractors to stick to a schedule. We were constantly asking for updates. It was very unprofessional. read more

Orion (Ruckle) renovated our 1920's detached garage into a home office / guest room. It was a strip down and pour new concreted, add a bathroom etc. job with lots of on the fly solutions. I heartily recommend Ruckle Construction and Orion Ruckle as a remodeling contractor. I hired him five years ago for a major remodel of my Mission Hills townhouse--re-plumb the entire unit, new kitchen and master bath from the joists up, add a personal gas line to unit for a gas kitchen. The quality of construction is excellent, I am quite pleased with the results. And the project had its bumps, inevitably. Orion delivered a quality end product, and has backed up his warranty speedily and without complaint when two issues arose. Neither one of which involved anything that got missed. Both "stuff happens" kind of events, a 40-year-old condo after major surgery, clinical and cosmetic. I do not anticipate any more arising. Quality, attention-to-detail construction managed by a knowledgeable, experienced builder. Good client communications, with a nifty web site for your job. I was referred by a family member who had this company do work for them several years back - they did a great job on that one. However, it took 3 weeks and 3 phone calls to even get them to call me back. Ladies who answered the phone were apologetic and nice. 3 weeks later I got a call, only to tell me Alpine is "too far". He never even asked me our address, we are on the far west end of Alpine, practically in El Cajon. This is after he told me they weren't very busy right now, but guess they will hold out for jobs close to their office? We are 30 minutes from their office...doesn't seem too bad for about a $30K job. After I told my family member of the experience, she told me they wouldn't call her back for more work either. From what I have seen, they do good work if you can get them there to do it...but I'd be cautious based on my experiences. read more

I thought maybe I caught him on a bad day, but when he came to give me a consultation on my leaking roof he seemed to have an even bigger attitude! From start to finish working with Ruckle Construction was a great experience! I recently completed a bathroom remodel of both bathrooms in my home. The team I worked with was very professional. Every day the team left the house cleaned up and their materials were stored out of the way. Everyone I worked with was very quick to respond to any questions I had throughout the process. The team moved fast and we got done with both bathrooms earlier than planned. Orion Ruckle and his crew were fantastic. They erected a large retaining wall and constructed about 1,800 square feet of level patio on the hillside of my canyon-front property, with nice lighting details and a natural gas firepit. Orion has extremely high standards of quality, and genuinely cares about client satisfaction. I found him to be pleasant, articulate, responsive, collaborative, and flexible to changes. His crew took meticulous care of my property and cleaned up after each day's work so that you could not even tell they'd been there. This was a relatively small project for Orion, in fact, he was moving on to a million dollar job after mine. Yet he made me feel like a million dollar client throughout the project. Orion and his team did amazing on our home remodel. The care and concern to create a beautiful home were emphasized throughout the entire project from beginning to completion. We love the new bedroom above the garage and the deck that allows us to have coffee in the morning. The new master bathroom is spacious and designed to perfection. The team did magnificient workmanship in creating a beautiful open kitchen area, dining and living space complete with oak floors. The details that went into the construction were done to our specification and his team member designed and built a beautiful fireplace. The garage and driveway were also updated. A new roof, skylights, and windows were also added. We appreciate the kindness and understanding that the team, Orion, and project foreman Carl extended to us.
