Very nice casual restaurant with excellent Italian menu! We started with garlic knots and eggplant rollatini (which had spinach in it). I chose my go to chicken parmigiana which came with a side of spaghetti which was cooked to a perfect al dente. My husband had Chicken Sicialian, which was chicken parmigiana with eggplant , also came with a side of spaghetti. All our food was delicious and the mains were large enough o bring back for lunch the next day. We enjoyed our food so we decided to give the pizza a try on our Friday night We are from New Jersey so have high standards and we were pleasantly surprised the pizza was very good. read more

Dined here with some friends, came in around 5pm on a Sunday and were seated up front near the windows. Service was prompt throughout the meal and our server made sure our drinks were filled and that we had everything for a wonderful meal. I ordered the Calamari Fra Diavolo with linguine. It was a wonderful dish and I would order it again. We also enjoyed the Garlic Knots and my wife enjoyed that they prepared some for her as well without garlic. Celebrated my partners birthday here yesterday. This homely Italian restaurant has outdoor seating, which is nice this time of year (Winter in So. Flo). The decor is that of an old school Italian restaurant. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was good and fresh. Had the fried calamari as our appetizer. It was tasty however it was a little chewy. The calamari pieces were stuck together. Some of the breading fully cooked and others on the soft side. I think the cook was in a rush. Threw them in bunches in very hot oil. Meals come with garlic rolls and salad. I upgraded my salad to a Ceasar. It was tasty. The garlic rolls seem to be made at the restaurant. They were fantastic! For our mains we had the linguine in clam sauce and the meatball parmesan over pasta. The marinara sauce was amazing for both the meatball parm and the calamari. The linguine in clam sauce was good. The meatballs were average. For dessert we had the cheesecake and it was phenomenal! At my request, the waitress delivered it with a lit candle. We decided to give Ruby's by the Sea a try after a long day of driving. It was a 2 minute walk from our Airbnb and had gluten free pizza. The restaurant is cute, the staff is extremely friendly and the food was very good. We had the gluten free pizza, chopped salad and I had the garlic knot (not gluten free). I don't usually like gluten free pizza let alone cauliflower crust, but that pizza was one of the best thin crust pizzas I've had in ages. If we lived in the area, this would be a regular go to restaurant for us. read more

This is a warning to anyone who uses Yelp to get food delivered. We ordered a pizza and salad from Ruby's and they prepped the order for delivery in about 30 min. The GrubHub delivery person took an hour to show up. By that time my family had already Eaten and while the restaurant had the best intentions the delivery service spoiled it. Do not order delivery from this or any restaurant unless they have their own driver. GrubHub is ruining the dining experience for patrons and this is the 2nd time in a row this happened with GrubHub. Apologies to the restaurant but they need to take responsibility for the dining experience and if they use an unreliable 3rd party service that should be a choice the restaurant owner makes about how to serve their customers. The Pizza had been sitting for an hour before it was delivered, I am sure it would have been better fresh. read more

On a walk towards the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse, we came upon a small shopping plaza with three restaurants, one being Ruby's by the Sea. Decided to try it for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Penne a la Vodka and a four meat Calzone, each dish was very tasty and the prices were decent. Our waitress was extremely pleasant and the chef graciously bade us hello. Ordered a veggie pizza with half pepperoni. Was surprised how fast it came out. But then I realized it was a pizza that was pre-baked. And when we ordered they threw the toppings on and reheated it. But the pepperoni was barely even warm. The peppers and onions were raw. And there was very little cheese. But the waitress was very nice. Ambiance was nice could be updated a bit. We came here for lunch. This neighborhood restaurant is in a strip center on the east side of A1A. There is parking out front. They weren't very busy inside. They were doing a number of takeout orders, however. We were greeted on entering and given menus. They had a number of lunch specials on their menu. We decided to start with an appetizer of meatballs with marinara sauce to share. There were 6 to the order. The meatballs were light in texture. The chunky tomato sauce was plain. But I added some grated cheese and he added some red pepper flakes and garlic to perk them up. We both got the one slice and soda lunch special. The pizza slice with cheese was large and cooked well done. When we got the bill, his iced tea was included as his "soda", but my can of Diet Coke wasn't. The salad was very good, and the fig balsamic hit the spot. The restaurant has been here over 50 years and it's a nice family run. Feel good restaurant. My son had the chicken Parm, which was "excellent" that's a verbatim. The garlic knots were also very good. They were warm and tasty The pasta was also nice and warm. Friendly customer service good portions, and authentic Italian, family owned environment

If you don't know, now you know that Italian food is my kind of even "semi cheat" meal any and every time. So after a full day of driving from the southern end of the 305 to the edge of 561 here in Pompano Beach, and catching a few moments of Zen at Hillsboro Inlet Park I was close to starving. I noticed a strip mall with a couple of restaurants on the drive to the park, and of course ended up at the Italian spot - Ruby's by the Sea. When I parked the first thing I noticed was their lively karaoke outside - mostly 80's and given the dates, holiday music being sung. Sounds great to me! They do have what seemed like a smaller indoor dining space thus they did a great job in current times of organizing terrace dining. They also seemed geared toward takeout, perfect for the cool park practically next door. Eating healthy, I started off with their caprese salad. The four large slices of beefsteak tomatoes, fresh basil and creamy mozzarella are the real deal. Add a dash of balsamic vinegar, and voila! Lentil soup was my choice for their complementary soup that came with the salad, and it tasted decently. It was blended soup instead of with the whole beans, which is my preference. My chicken parm was a very nicely sized filet with juicy meat, light breading and basil seasoning. I also enjoyed the flavor of the robust marinara sauce. I appreciated that the spaghetti noodles were on a separate plate which allowed me to not feel so bad, despite the one garlic roll I sneaked. After all, it was Cheat Meal! This baby was warm, fluffy and the garlic was not overwhelming. Amore! The vibe is pleasantly casual, with the vibe of the old beachside places before all the VIP lines and such. We ordered delivery (less than a mile) and were extremely disappointed in the quality of food. Lasagna was watery, bland, and lacked the normal layers of noodles and ricotta cheese. Veal parm was bland and the breading was a soggy mess. Pasta sauce is basically canned tomato's with no flavor. Side salad size was a joke and the quantity of dressing was extremely insufficient. We chose this place based on some of the other reviews but we definitely won't be back. read more

We stopped in for lunch today. After looking over the menu we decided to share the Meatballs and have the single slice pizza special. The meatballs were nice and fluffy with a nice tomato sauce and basil pieces. Our pizza slices had a nice crunch to the crust. Just OK food but expensive for a pizza joint. Was very busy, but small seating area. Waitress didn't explain much on the menu. Like when I ordered spaghetti and meatballs it came with a side salad already. I didn't know this. I had ordered a chopped salad with my meal. They never brought water ... And the spaghetti was undercooked and hard. Meatballs were small, soggy and tasteless. Stars started at 5 and went down quickly to 2. This is my second time there. The first visit was a 4 so it did, at least a year ago, have some good qualities back then. I usually give 4 or 5 stars since I eat out often with traveling. This does not fall in that category and I am honest in all my opinions. OK, so I get a reply that the owner says to me that "I am not hurting myself they get all five stars," ...which they don't by the way. Then the owner continues to say that they are not to blame and I should be the one to blame. How is that when I'm the one that is the customer coming in to get seated and being ignored by your hostess as well as your waitresses? Also, you mentioned that I should be to blame on the food? That doesn't even make sense! I don't even prepare it and yes, it was very UN-al dente. The pasta came out hard, and the meatballs were completely UN tasteful. You should really focus on your own business instead of trying to blame the customer who is just trying to get a decent meal but instead you decide to go attack me? Someone who is trying to be a patron to your company?? Well, I guess you need to learn better customer service, and manners, and not be attacking someone who writes reviews for a living. Just for that terrible review that you replied, I'm downgrading you to a one star. If you did the right thing and had any common sense, he would've apologized and at least tried to make things right in the future but apparently you don't care about the customer as much as you think you do!
