Veal Parmesan
Michael C.

I had heard so many good things about this restaurant and perhaps that set my expectations too high. On the plus side, the rigatoni bolognese was excellent as were the meatballs. On the minus side, the veal parmesan was tough and chewy. Probably the biggest disappointment was that the waiter took our order but didn't write anything down, which is cool but only if you get it right. He didn't. He asked us what we would like to start and we ordered the cold antipasto but it never came.

I grew up coming here and loved it so much and due to moving away for college, haven't been here in like 10 years, maybe even more. My family decided to come back here for dinner last night and it definitely has changed. First off, you can't walk in the old front entrance anymore and walk by and see them making the pizza, which is unfortunate. You have to go in on the side and walk through the tables of people sitting and eating outside. Also, the inside decor looks run down and not nice. We decided to sit outside, and both the table and chairs were dirty with pizza sauce. I get the tables are outside but do they not wipe it down? It was pretty nasty. Next onto service, since when does this place put auto gratuity of 20% onto checks, especially a 5 person party. I always tip 20%, but I hate auto gratuity because I feel like the servers slack off since they know they're getting their money no matter what. Our server wasn't too terrible, however she did give my dad some mild attitude over ordering the calamari and calling it fritti instead of fried. We know fritti is fried, and you know what we mean when we say fried calamari, don't have to make a big stink about its proper name. Also, I asked for a water refill and she brought a sprite instead, which no big deal, mistakes happen, but she said she would fix the issue and get me a water and never returned. The host ended up coming out to check on us and I had to ask her to refill my water. As for the food, everything was really good and we enjoyed our meal thoroughly. Definitely think this place has gone downhill since its earlier days but at least the food is still good.especially the garlic rolls, that's what I remember most about this place and they did not disappoint.

Great neighborhood italian restaurant, with owners and team members that become like family. They have a bar, indoor and outdoor seating. Plenty of parking. The restaurant is nestled in the heart of Parkland. Today we swung in to purchase fresh pizza dough. Two containers were $16.00. Looks like it will make four personal size pizzas. Enjoy!

Deep breath. Pizza Time Caffe in Parkland. This a family-owned Italian-American pizza joint with an adjoining dining room aspiring to be something better. It's related to Pizza Time in Coral Springs, but smaller and atmospherically similar (in that dated 1980s sense) with the stereotypical Roman busts, terrazzo pink decor, and frescoes of Mediterranean scenes. It's cute and family-owned. I wanted to like it because many people have asked me to try it over the years, and it's practically in my backyard. First lands the house salad, which comes with the entree (we ordered the "regular" sized eggplant parm, which we'll get to). Lovely crisp salad greens, fresh ripe tomatoes. Commercial bottled Italian dressing with a sweet flavor. Sad. We were told about the garlic rolls that come with the entree. We waited. We didn't get them until we asked about 10 minutes later. The server was apologetic, as the busser was supposed to do it. The rolls themselves had the consistency of white bread, not pizza dough. Rachel and I felt the garlic topping tasted like it came out of a jar. Acidic and harsh. The parm. The regular size is about twice the size as the small, but only $3 more. A massive portion that will serve at least 3 or 4 people. It's heavily breaded but not well-seasoned, and I thought it was very light on cheese, which is a low-moisture mozzarella you would put on pizza. I'm unsure what brand it is, but it didn't taste like a Grande. The sauce itself was somehow very cloyingly sweet (like pizza sauce at their sister restaurant in Coral Springs) and very salty. The pasta was cooked properly , that's about all I can say in praise about it. Rachel and I each had a bite and were disgusted and left the plate as is and asked for the check. Price wise, it was actually a few dollars more then Sette Mezzo's but like 3X-4X more food. The portions of everything I saw go out were huge, and that's probably the main appeal of the place. We were asked what was wrong with it, and we told them the above. They didn't offer to replace it with something else or cancel the bill. One and done. And it's unfortunate because I expect a family-run place like this to do better.

Heather was an attentive bartender. My girlfriend and I ordered three appetizers off the happy hour menu and got a bottle half price from the Monday special. The burrata insalata was excellent. We then ordered a side of the Meatballs which we ordered an extra side of Ricotta cheese, and that was also delicious. Lastly, we ordered the happy hour pizza, which was a pepperoni pizza with ricotta and Mike's hot honey drizzled on top. It was also delicious. The Ambiance is that of a cozy Italian trattoria. I can't wait to bring my husband next time!

Consistently delicious for over 20 years. Still one of the best Italian restaurants in southeast Florida.

All of the food was so incredibly prepared with fresh ingredients. A truly authentic Italian restaurant. The al fresco Mediterranean style dining room is so cute, what a vibe. The garlic knots were out of this world, super garlicky. My boyfriend and I weren't starving so we decided to share a regular order of chicken piccata and it was huge! So big we were able to share it and still took plenty home. The couple sitting next to us also shared a chicken dish and soup and had plenty left over, great healthy portion sizes! The bartender/ manager was so sweet, very attentive and made great recommendations. The only thing is that they only have beer and wine so if you are looking to enjoy cocktails the only have high noons, it is not a full bar. Definitely a hit in our book, we will be returning often.

Sette Mezzo Ristorante 6370 St. Rd 7 (Regency Lakes Village…read moreCenter) Coconut Creek Despite living less than 2 miles from Sette Mezzo, Wednesday night was my very first visit to the restaurant. They've been around about 9 years, and I've lived in Coconut Creek for 20 years, but somehow--I was barely aware that it existed. After reading a great review by Susan Stone last week, I made a reservation for Wednesday the 26th. When the day arrived, it was stormy with on and off rain showers, but because there is very easy parking in the Center, we found a spot steps from the door. The interior of the restaurant is attractive and there is a very compact bar in the back. I can see myself sitting there in the very near future (happy hours are 4-7 on weekdays). It was not particularly crowded and our server led us to a table on the edge of the main dining room. It was perfect and while I had read a few comments on Yelp that said it was too brightly lit, that was not the case when we were there. We started with the same cocktail that Susan Stone had, the Bello Giorno (vodka and Prosecco with a splash of cranberry, $12). It was light and refreshing and the very definition of an apéritif. I had checked the food menu online and both my husband and I THOUGHT that we knew what we wanted. So, I was more interested in the wine list, since I was certain about what I would order. But when Melinda, our charming server, came over to recite the copious number of specials, it changed everything. In addition to veal, beef and lobster specials, there was a crispy skin branzini, as well as a yellowtail snapper dish. She gave us some time to debate it (and, for me to look for an acceptable white wine since we were no longer ordering pasta). What did not change was the appetizer we had selected in advance. We shared an order of Cervelatta Sausage ($20), something we both love. Sette Mezzo's version was slightly charred and served on a bed on onions and peppers. It was excellent and authentic. I chose yellowtail snapper, and my husband had crispy skin branzini (both $42). The snapper was in a lemon butter sauce and served with spinach and potatoes. The branzini was crispy on one side and perfectly cooked on the other side. It was also accompanied by spinach and potatoes. One of the reasons we have never been to Sette Mezzo is because I rarely want Italian food. Don't get me wrong, I love Casa D'Angelo and Anthony's, and a few others, but as a cuisine, it's not my first choice. I generally want fish when I dine out and had I realized how well this restaurant can prepare fresh fish, we would have been here many years ago. We also shared a bottle of Italian Chardonnay, Scarpetta ($42), which was a perfect match for our fish because it was a refreshing, largely unoaked chardonnay from Friuli. We rarely order a full bottle at restaurants these days because there is often unspoken pressure to eat, pay and get out. I felt like unless it was a busy Saturday night, we'd never get the bum's rush at this establishment. We spent about 2 hours in the restaurant and our bill before tax and tip was $181. We paid cash, but I saw no notices about mandatory credit card fees or gratuities. Let me just stop right here and assure you that you do not need to spend $200 to dine at Sette Mezzo. I did not snap a photo of the restaurant's menu because it's readily available online and the prices are accurate. Many pastas are $20-$26 and the veal and chicken dishes are mostly about $25. I took photos of the wine list and both the cocktails and wine are priced fairly. I was originally torn between 2 Super Tuscans, but because we chose seafood, I was delighted to find the chardonnay. Without question people can dine well for far less than what we spent. It is my opinion that this is so much more than a neighborhood spot. Although, I am delighted it's in my neighborhood, the quality of the dishes, as well as their expertise with fresh fish, elevates the experience and makes it worth a bit of a drive. NOTE-this review is also posted in LESFL FB group.

They also changed the menu a month ago as we found out, but never bothered updating their menu on the website. Which forced us to walk in and order in person. Secondly, the food we received was lukewarm at best. We literally had to put it in the oven to heat it up. I ordered the lasagna Bolognese and there were absolutely no pasta layers to this lasagna. It was basically Bolognese sauce with melted cheese on top. And I don't mean too little pasta layers, I mean NONE, zero pasta layers. The other one was a pasta with a caramelized onion and braised beef and it also was at best lukewarm and lacked flavor. The appetizer we ordered, on the website, said that it was a mix of lightly breaded and fried seafood, including shrimp, calamari, smelts, and vegetables. Which we later found out that that menu item is no longer the same and does not include smelts. We did call the restaurant to ask if maybe we had misunderstood the menu, but we were told that the chef said he made the lasagna the exact same way as he always does and that they didn't know what to tell us because the manager was not there. We also brought up to the hostess that the images did not match the descriptions online to which she responded, she would let the manager know on Monday. Disappointed since they said they were under new management.

I remember looking up local places that had freshly made Italian way way back and this was one of the spots. What a joy to have homemade authentic Italian pasta nearby! Tonight we came in during the Labor Day holiday weekend on Sunday night with our toddler. Judging by the reviews I was on the fence about this being a date night or trying to bring the kiddo but I was feeling adventurous. We lucked out- no reservation; walked in with a toddler and it they sat us in one of the back rooms with a big party table- perfect. Bring on the large group who will be living it up family style and louder than us. A beautiful interior, with winding rooms to section off different areas. The front area more well lit, a mid section with the bar and the back room for a large party. Every space separated with rows of wine which they are very well versed in. That must be why they aren't just called 'Pasta...' The actually ended up being super toddler friendly but I wouldn't recommend to any ol' kids. It's intimate and very date night style restaurant- but they were more than accommodating. Our daughter got a high chair, a gold chalice for water and even a plate of homemade pasta with butter. The staff was very friendly to her and everyone said 'ciao bella' which she loved. On to the adults, my husband and I got cocktails- both of them were outstanding- my husband got an old fashioned and I got a gin drink with rosemary infused gin with a bubble on top. It was beautiful. They were so delicious. My dish was the Pappardelle al Sugo di Cinghiale. Pasta with wild boar sauce, outstanding- perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. Meat just fell apart.
