We had theater tickets in Ft Lauderdale and live in West Delray, so I asked my brother who lives in Ft Lauderdale for a recommendation for a restaurant. La Forketta is a small storefront restaurant where you enter thru a separate pizza and sandwich shop who has a different owner. Seats only about 40 people. Very attentive wait staff. Nice menu with a large daily special menu. The prices are very reasonable. Since we were eating at 6, we only ordered entrees, my wife chose the Eggplant Parmesan, huge portion with a side of pasta, very good. I opted for the Linguine Seafood with Calamari, shrimps, octopus, garlic, tomato, and parsley. Very good but a little light o0n the seafood. Definitely will return. read more

La Forketta is in a strip mall & it's very hard to miss. However- it's a place worth looking for. Service is very attentive. Checking in on my friend & myself many times. The food is very fresh & there are many choices & specials on their menu. We shared everything- started with arancini- stuffed with pasta instead of rice. It was very tasty. Then we shared the pinsa caprese. Very light & delicious. There is a bakery on premises & you can take things home. All in all, La Forketta is a very nice restaurant with a friendly atmosphere. Well, I found this restaurant while trying another restaurant near by. I was excited to try a new Italian restaurant which I did not know about and was close to my house. Unfortunately my wife and I ended up very disappointed. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere. The staff were very nice except for one woman who had glasses. She was almost rushing us to order and seemed bothered every time we saw her. The two stars is based on the food which was TASTELESS AND BORING!!!!! And the angry waitress with glasses. We started with the Caprese salad. It did have a beautiful presentation and the mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, and arugula were fresh. The balsamic glaze that was on the salad was also good. Unfortunately, the remainder of our meal was edible, but very tasteless. Even the basket of bread they bring to the table had no flavor. For dinner I had the seafood pasta and my wife ordered their Dover soul with pasta. Both dishes came out hot, however there was no presentation and the food just looked very plain. Both our pastas were over cooked to start with. I asked for garlic and oil and not their red sauce. Well all I could taste was oil and couldn't even find one piece of garlic in my dish. It was also lacking any other flavor and I had to add salt pepper and several spoonfuls of Parmesan cheese to give it some taste. The seafood which consist of octopus, calamari, and shrimp were also overcooked and the shrimp were actually mushy and not firm or fresh tasting. As for my wife's dish, it was supposed to have a lemon sauce on it and all you could taste was the flour that was on the fish with oil. It had no lemon flavor no salt, no pepper and no taste. She had to add a substantial amount, salt, pepper, and cheese to give the dish any flavor. It did have a small lemon wedge on the plate. Maybe we were supposed to make the sauce ourselves. Their prices are reasonable, and the portion was substantial for what they charge. Like most restaurants that we try and are disappointed with, we will go back and give them a second chance. And as I say on most of my posts, we paid our check and we didn't complain. It wasn't something we couldn't eat. It was just something we didn't enjoy. read more

My daughter was specifically craving "pasta" and I found Forketta to have good reviews. When we first arrived, we were a bit confused on what to do. There was a sign with a bell but also another sign saying go to dining room counter for to-go orders. So we stood and waited for some one to acknowledge us. When we got sat, our waitress was prompt however I was disappointed they didn't have a kid specific menu. She offered penne with Alfredo as a kids option. However, this meal cost more than our Penne with Crab and both were adult sized portions. The fresh bread was delicious. The Crab with Penne was okay, I think I have learned I really only like Crab in the Crack it from the shell form. We also had some ice cream which was delicious. read more

2-15-24 6pm Came here to celebrate our friend on her milestone birthday. It was a Thursday evening and even at 6pm not an empty table. Good thing my friend called and made a reservation for four. It is conveniently located in a center with lots of parking out front. We all just drank water and they brought bread to the table. I ordered the veal and was surprised that it didn't come with a side. Maybe it was an option but I missed it as our group was just so excited to see one another. My friends all started with a salad first. After dinner I had a cappuccino which gave me the jolt for my long drive home. As well as me shared the Limoncello cake and Tiramisu. Max and I would have never stepped foot in this restaurant if it wasn't for our very dear friends Julie and Roy. We met them through Yelp and continue to look for new adventures. This was an adventure for us, but comfortable territory for Julie and Roy. We were invited for Julie's birthday. Roy did himself proud as he took care of everything from the invitation to making sure we were wined and dined. The food was outstanding. As you can see by how many the table accommodated, you would hope the servers could get it all done. The entire team that works at this restaurant were masters. It's small enough to handle small parties up to ones that are the size of ours. Great job Julie and Roy for the hospitality. Happy birthday to Julie. Surprising for an Italian Restaurant to serve cold Italian Bread with cold butter. The restaurant A/C was a little too high for me, Good thing I had a sweater. In the kitchen were the owners a married couple. Food was well worth the wait. Obviously prepared with love. We were a party of five. We shared an appetizer of bruschetta pizza, unexpectedly delicious. Main courses of Pasta Seafood, Pasta Mar Monti, Chicken Parmigiana, Mahi Mahi and Salmon. We hadn't been back to La Forketta since before the Pandemic. We were pleased that not only did it survive, but it appears to have thrived! It is just as charming as ever, walking thru the bakery/salumeria, you're seated in what looks like an European bistro. Daily specials are mixed with standard northern Italy menu items. Not to fear, there's plenty of red sauce dishes as well. We tried the veal chop special a sausage with orrchiette in a cream sauce. Both delicious. 11/08/21 I can't offer enough praise for the chef/owner at La Forketta. Maximiliano has a way with the ingredients in his kitchen like a conductor would have over his Symphony orchestra. His dishes are always spot on as far as seasoning, texture and flavor. This evening hubby ordered the osso bucco served with pappardelle and the veal was tender, and the pasta was cooked perfectly. My cowboy steak was cooked to a succulent medium rare served with a side of pasta garlic and oil. It seems lately that is my go to dish. Pizza is good, so I went back tonite thinking that the quality of the pizza would carry over to the other offerings on the menu, so I ordered "veal parm": mistake....The veal that that they serve here is exactly what you get from the frozen food section in Publix: a pre packaged slice about 3/8" thick, overly breaded and difficult to slice...You'd be much better off going to the local butchers-Guido's or Smitty's, and preparing veal parm off a YouTube video. My wife and I found this restaurant in a strip mall in Pompano Beach, and were blown away by the excellence of this place and the amazing Italian food served here. I had an Italian nonna from the Bronx, NY, which means that I've been on a life long search to find the best Italian food - I finally found the place. The chef, Max, and his lovely wife, Lara, came to Florida from Milan 11 years ago and have developed quite a following in such a relatively short period of time. We knew immediately that this place would be "special" upon tasting the Italian bread that arrived to the table. It is baked in the restaurant daily and it is a warm, soft and "pillowy"on the inside "semolina treat". The sausage and peppers that we had to start was absolutely mouthwatering (and I've never said that about sausage and peppers) - it has to be eaten with the bread. The veal osso bucco, served with homemade pappardelle pasta in a very nice house red sauce, and my wife's chicken cutlet dish both knocked it out of the park! Their list of really solid Italian wines is staggering - we polished off our meal with a delicious, dark and robust Super Tuscan. Following that feast, we just had to go back into their sparkling kitchen to meet and to thank Max and Lara, and their son, Luca. Last, but certainly not least, the wait staff of Maria, Jonathan and Sue were extremely professional, friendly and accommodating. My wife and I decided that, if you want to find Italian as good as this, you might have to jump on a flight to Italy. We can't wait to go back! Wow!! read more
