I've had the pleasure of dining at Pomodoro, which I am sure takes its name from the well-known Pomodoro tomato based sauced, on several occasions and have found the food I've had there to be exceptional in preparation as well as in ingredient. I've had their Pizza Ai Funghi Selvatici and Pizza Quattro Stagioni, both of which I found to be not only tasty, but well prepared, rich in ingredient and flavor. However, and this is the good point, Pomodoro is more than a pizza parlor. It's in fact an Italian restaurant of comfortable décor with a good range not only of menu offerings but of daily special options. On my most recent visit I went for their menu choice of Tuna Carpaccio, a salad comprised of celery, caper berries, arugula, topped with quality paper thin slices of cheese, coated with a distinct to the taste lime enhanced vinaigrette. I found the flavor combinations were well balanced, each complimentary to the other as well as unique in composition. For my entrée I chose the spaghetti with clam, being one of what were five special not on the menu offerings of the night. When it arrived, the portion was huge but nicely presented and having far more in the shell fresh to the taste clams than any such dish I've generally had elsewhere. It was also expertly prepared, especially with its garlic ingredient which so many other establishments never seem to get just right, either by undercooking which gives an overly harsh garlic taste or overcooking which renders a bitterness. Pomodoro, as a restaurant, is basically split into two parts. One side of it is comprised of the kitchen area with a few small high table like seatings along with a counter dinning/stool seating arrangement. The other side is regular table and chair seat dinning. The entire restaurant is neat, orderly, organized and spotlessly clean. I've also found the service to be exceptional. On my recent visit, my server was Rob; a person I found to be light heartedly friendly, mannerly as well as helpful in that instead of just rattling off the night specials gave some insightful explanation as to each. As for rating I can easily go a solid Four Stars Plus, and I'm rather sure that after trying them a few more times for consistency, will most likely be updating to Five Stars.

You can't go wrong at Pomodoro. Best Italian food I've ever had... the gnocchi melts in your mouth literally, the potato slice crusted grouper, the fresh pizza is unique and amazing, and I could go on. I first ate here about 10 years ago back when the wife Linda was still there. Since then they divorced and the husband/chef (Piero) runs the restaurant. He has authentic training from when he traveled and lived in Italy to learn decades ago... Pomodoro is a unique restaurant and definitely a local classic

Pizza con I Gamberi-Shrimp, Pancetta, fresh herbs, garlic, tomatoes, no cheese (we asked for light cheese).

Today I came with my family and had the I gamberi pizza with shrimp, garlic, pancetta, fresh herbs, tomatoes, and light cheese. Simply delicious! You could taste each flavor separately; the pizza was well balanced on ingredients and very tasty! I couldn't leave without trying (again) the homemade Tiramisu... And guess what? Unbelievable! :D I will definitively be back here!

I could have given four but , for silly things I can't. Had a reservation . For two @ 6:30 for bar then 7;00pm in dining room Sat in front of the big pizzas oven. That's were the chef/owner making his art come alive. 12 ' pizza with interesting topping . He never once greeted us , smiled o anything. He was in the weeds too This is where they loss a star. We gathered that the bar was more of a service station. So chef would put up pizzas and call a number table 5 . It sat there for at least 5-6 minuets no heat lamps . The mother in law was very sweet. We brought our own bottle , only $15.00 for corking fee. They put it in one of those gel like wraps. Different. Never poured it at bar or table. Plus we tipped on the $15.00 corkage fee. We did save a order of the fish some of Yelpers said they run out. I ordered the can't tell ya the name but it was pork tenderloin wrap with two cheeses and held together with toothpicks . It would have been nice if they removed them . It came with Burnt Brussels sprouts. I asked for Paddella pasta instead of my second veggie. No problem. Service at 7:00 busy, Howard our waiter was in the weeds and sweating . He was pleasant tho . Nice warm homemade bread drizzled with good oil. At the end of the meal the mother in law came and gave us homemade piece of decadent chocolate cake and sang Happy anniversary as well as some guest. Definitely going back maybe during week . Bon appétit

I started with the grilled octopus and cannellini beans--always a risk if the kitchen doesn't know its way around a tentacle. Fortunately, LaFuga does. The octopus was tender, flavorful, and seasoned like it had just come back from a summer abroad. A great start. For entrées, I went with the shrimp over homemade pasta and the swordfish. Credit where it's due: the seafood is where LaFuga really shines. Both the shrimp and swordfish were cooked exactly right--moist, perfectly seasoned, and confidently plated. If the meal had ended there, this review might've turned into a standing ovation. But then... the pasta. And while the menu proudly labeled it "homemade," I'm not sure it was quite "ready to leave the house." It was noticeably hard--whether from undercooking or an identity crisis, who can say? Let's just say the texture was more "al dente... and then some." To be clear, nothing was bad--it just felt like two different kitchens made the dish, and only one of them had read the recipe. All in all, LaFuga is worth a visit for the seafood alone. If they can get the pasta to stop pretending it's auditioning for a role as a firm mattress, they'll really be onto something.

After all the hype and difficulty getting in, I was very curious to see if it would actually live up to expectations--and honestly, it did. First, the cons. The restaurant is tiny. Like...teeny tiny. There's basically no standing room when waiting to be seated or picking up an order, so everyone kind of awkwardly crowds near the front door while servers and bartenders are constantly weaving around you looking mildly annoyed that you exist there. Eventually, people started gathering near the opposite end of the bar by the bathrooms because there was at least a little more breathing room. Once seated, the atmosphere is very lively, loud, and fast-paced. Not necessarily a bad thing, but definitely not the place for a quiet intimate dinner. Our server also may have been having an off night because there was a bit of attitude mixed in throughout the meal. That said... the FOOD. Unreal. Absolutely worth the wait and reservation struggle. Everything we ordered was exceptional. The sweet long pepper, Savage Garden salad, and Bolognese pasta were all incredible. Then came the pizzas--the fresh tomato pizza ("upside down pie") especially was ridiculously good. The squash blossom and cold pulled burrata pizza was also delicious. To finish--because we weren't stuffed enough--the strawberry olive oil cake. A literal perfect ending to the meal. Despite a rough start, the food completely stole the show. Easily an 11/10 meal. Now I just need to survive trying to get another reservation for round two.

It is not Italian food but it is what Americans think is Italian and it is fine, good, tasty comfort food. I like supporting well run family owned restaurants. These folks work so hard and it's impossible to please everyone. I read that the family traces their roots to Ferrara and Rome before moving to Venezuela and then to the US where they developed restaurant experience and adapted to the culture here. The dining room was full on the night we were there and the ambiance is simple and a little rustic with the brick walls and beige tables. We started with the grilled octopus and the Italian rice balls stuffed with meat. I think we confused them as the rice balls come 2 to an order and there were three of us so we asked if we could buy an extra one. The first order came up with only 2 but instead of just leaving them and bringing another- they took the 2 away and then just brought one with out the other two. Clearly we screwed them up with our request. Eventually we ended up eating three but not at the same time. The octopus was delicious! For our entrees, I had the spaghetti alla vongole which was delicious and packed with clams. One of my dining companions had the lobster ravioli done spicy and and LOVED it as it came with shrimp on top and small tomatoes. My other dining companion had a special of the day which was a pumpkin ravioli. I think something got lost in the description of that item as he was expecting more of a fall dish but it came with a red sauce on it which he said was an odd combo. For dessert, I was stuffed, but one of my dining companions got the tiramisu for dessert which he said was quite good. All in all- the food was quite good, the drinks were well poured and we had plenty of food to take home for another night. Nice to have this local place in our neighborhood!
