Tried Ruby Red's BBQ today. I've been wanting to try this place since it opened awhile ago, and I FINALLY got a chance to try it. First of all, Gwen our server was the SWEETEST ever and she was super accommodating with my family and always had a smile on her face. My family was just super impressed with her. Second of all, after ordering we didn't have to wait long at all to be served; we maybe waited no longer than 10 minutes for our food. Very impressive, and we were sat very quickly too. Decor is awesome in the dining room. It really looks like an old Western Saloon. I got the Brisket which was great. Melt in your mouth soft. Salted right. And the sauce was decent too. Waitress let me sample all three and I ended up liking the Carolina the best. Also got the cornbread with yummy maple butter. I could probably eat the maple butter by itself it was so good. Our order was delivered with the following problems: Pancakes were done as requested, but no butter on or with them. Had to ask twice and pancakes were cool before we got butter. Ordered link sausage and got patty. Were told there were no links. Kendra came back and said that was wring and got us a sausage link-but it wasn't breakfast sausage. Got one slice of sourdough toast. It too was unbuttered and no butter on table. Meal comes with three eggs, but only two made it to table. The food was good. We were able to try breakfast firmed and three different proteins and all their sauces. The waitress was a young lady. She was very accommodating and sweet. It was very uncomfortable to watch her being scolded my a middle age lady with dark hair and glasses. When training new employees it is best to scold them away from the eyes of customers. I felt watching it and it made my husband and I very uncomfortable. The reason employers can't keep young people is their lack of flexibility and understanding as there is a learning curve! After coming here quite a few times, We have now tried the brisket, the mac & cheese, the macaroni salad, brisket baked beans, coleslaw, cornbread with maple butter & creamed corn. I highly recommend all of the dishes I listed, all are absolutely fantastic...just don't eat them all in the same sitting. I spend a lot of time in Nashville and Ruby Reds can compete with Nashvilles's top bbq joints. I have to give the highest rating to the Mac & cheese!! Up until now, Chick Fil A had the best, but Ruby Red's M&C runs circles around them. I also have to mention the friendly service and the cozy country style atmosphere. Well, I saw this place had opened recently and finally decided to try it. I made reservations but when I arrived I realised they weren't necessary. The host was congenial and took care of us ASAP. I saw about 18 customers in there with plenty of available seating. The outside of the building alludes to nothing of the decor inside. Old western ranch house/ bar motif. It was done well. All the people I dealt with were friendly and smiling. They have an interesting menu and don't offer pork back ribs. Personally I'm fine with that as I prefer the side ribs anyway. All the meats are a la carte and somewhat pricey for the demographics. The sides were a la carte and of course the appetisers were. I ordered the large beef rib. I got one large beef rib. I don't know if they smoked it for ten+ hours or if they sous vide it and finished with smoke. I suspect the latter but who really cares. It was the most tender, juicy, flavorful, smoke tasting beef side rib I have ever had. It had a good bark, more than enough meat and could be cut with the dull butter knives they provide. No steak knives here. My date ordered the 1/2 pound after cooking Angus brisket. It didn't fall apart when cutting and was still tender enough to cut with the dull butter knife, Good smoke ring, good flavor. The battered and fried green beans were just right. The collard greens are OK but need a little work. But who am I to say that, Just a boy from the south. The cornbread muffin had a just right flavor but it falls apart easily like a blueberry muffin would. The excellent tasting maple-butter was served cold and it was impossible to butter a muffin that falls apart. They need to serve the butter at room temp or just serve buttered cornbread mush. All the house sauces are good but they don't leave them on the table. Instead there was Cholula and Tabasco. I feel that for $38 for one rib there should be some basic sides included. They are in an area that has a higher income level to the south but most of those people don't eat smoked BBQ. To the east is the area that has a yearly tamale festive. To the west is a lot of families just struggling to make the high house payment in the nice area and North is just all over the place. This has potential to be a premier BBQ place and someday it might be just that; hopefully sooner than later. The pizza place before them held on for a very long time. Our meal was one beef rib;$38. 1/2 pound brisket; $15. Two collard greens; $10. One cornbread muffin; $4. Battered fried green beans; $11. We drank water. Had no desert. I was offered (as we were leaving) some beignets for a yelp review. $78 plus tax and tip came to $100. There are plenty of other places I can get good steaks and sides for half that but absolutely never get a beef rib like theirs. You got the 4 stars for the butter, not the price. I once spent $400 at ruth Chris' and it wasn't even close to your quality. read more

I stopped going here once I was no longer able to sit down at the bar or one of the empty tables to eat. For months they allowed me to order food and sit down but then they started trying to push full service and force guests to have a waitress serve them. I don't want a waitress.
