I tried the: Certified Black Angus Brisket St Louis Pork Ribs Beef Ribs Sweet Pig Slider (pulled pork) Southern Creamed Corn Macaroni Salad Mac-n-Cheese Coleslaw Dessert: Gingerbread Cookie, Texas Chocolate Chunk, Chocolate Peppermint, Oatmeal Cookie Butter, Snickerdoodle, Lemon Blueberry The meats were definitely the highlight of my meal and the sides were just okay. You can order by the half pound or even a quarter pound if you want to try different options or if you're just indecisive like me. I suggest sharing the beef rib because that thing was massive, although it's only available on Fridays and Saturdays. There were also 3 different types of sauces to dip the meat in: Carolina (tangy), Ruby (sweet), and Red (spicy). The inside is designed to be like a Western saloon which really immerses you in the BBQ experience. It's a great place to hang out with a group or satisfy your BBQ cravings. You can see them cut the meat which is also so cool. The hospitality is also amazing and they make you feel at home not only with the food but with the service. If you're hungry, and you want bbq, and you think there's no good bbq places left in NOC, you need to try Ruby Reds. I've been twice now, for dinner and breakfast, (yes they have a breakfast menu) and their food is off the charts amazing. There literally isn't one bad thing in the menu. For breakfast I had the brisket and eggs I had some potatoes that came out in a skillet the meat came out on this wood plank, so tender so juicy. I ordered pancakes too, they were so good and they even had a double R in butter on them. For dinner I've had their brisket beans, the chuck wagon chili, and pig candy can't wait to try more all their sides look amazing. The decor is going to shock you when you go in. You're gonna be like what the heck is this old west southern saloon doing in La Habra! The attention to detail on the decorations is evident, like it just feels really nice, not kitschy like some restaurants that try too hard and are just dusty. This place was introduced to me and I took my daughter with me and we both loved it. The ambiance is hillbilly/country/farm life themed and very nice. As we walked in we were greeted and seated promptly. The hostess and server were nice, polite and professional. Another to use that word loosely. Our server was patient and on point. She wasn't pushy and she checked on us periodically, not too much and not too little. We both ordered the BBQ chicken breast with mini potatoes and what looked like and tasted like chili beans. They offered three different flavored sauces. Breast is not my first choice anywhere but this one was juicy and perfectly tasty. It was a good size and just right portion of the sides. And their cornbread was very good. You can taste the corn. And of course I topped it all of with a Dr Pepper. Needless to say I will be back. I highly recommend y'all try Ruby Red's BBQ. Lived in La Habra for 20 years but hadn't noticed this demure jewel several stores to the east of Smart & Final that's been around for 35 years. Ruby Red used to be my favorite citrus tree in the yard, now it's my favorite barbeque restaurant. We got an inviting picture post card in the mail and three of us decided to check it out for my birthday. It was the night before the Super Bowl so quiet before the storm. We got a nice booth by the bar, which was empty that night. The ambiance is Victorian meets Reata (the mansion in "Giant") and we expected the Rock Hudson character Bick Benedict to saunter by any minute. Our waitress Amanda was friendly and helpful. We went with her suggestion and shared the "Platter" which was a generous sampler of chicken breast (humongous), pork ribs, brisket, pulled pork and a sausage, all mouth watering smoky, and two sides. We went for collard greens and creamed corn. The meat was tender and top notch, no scraps other than clean picked ribs, and the sides were scrumptious. My only constructive comment, and still giving 5 stars well deserved, is that perhaps because it was a slow night (atypical from the reviews) while the food was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked, it didn't arrive piping hot to the table, perhaps not all right off the grill, and a server (not Amanda) after a three or four minute delay brought us small plates for us to share the platter. Next time (and there certainly will be when we crave barbeque), I'll just ask to bring us dinner plates and gently mention "the food could have been hotter to the table last time", and I've no doubt the staff will more than deliver. For dessert, the beignets are the capper. As a Green Waver from many moons ago when N'awlins was great, I attest that Cafe du Monde's got nothing on these piping hot four-cornered powdered sugar gems that have the perfect balance of crunchy outside and rich, fluffy inside. At closing time with some batter that had nowhere to go (from the slow night, and maybe for the birthday) Amanda gave us a little lagniappe that became an impromptu care package for daughter to share with her roomie back at the dorm. We'll definitely be back again for dinner and breakfast to try Ruby Red's Eggs Benedict. read more

I had the beef rib which is only on Fridays and Saturdays. Huge rib, 1 rib by itself is plenty. plenty of meat, not that fatty. the ridges have a crunchy outer crust with a lot of seasoning. May be slightly salty for some. Barbecue sauce I preferred the red version. Mac & cheese is done right. They do not have potato salad yet but that is in the works. I had the full pork slider which was also a good addition as a mini side. also trying the pork ribs which are definitely smaller in size compared to the beef ribs but not dry. again goes good with the sauce. definitely recommend the cookies that they have. I asked about the sides... all in house homemade recipes. Oh yeah. The brisket fries showed up, and looked amazing. I CANT BELIEVE I DIDN'T TAKE A PICTURE OF THEM. Now, here's the deal. Texas brisket is off the hook. This brisket was shredded, on waffle fries with cheese, onions, and sauce. I galloped on by to Ruby Red's BBQ for dinner and it was one hootenanny of a meal! I decided to share a plate with my sister and we got the beef brisket, St. Louis spare ribs, and shredded chicken. For sides, we decided to try some of Ruby's creamiest and dairy-rich selections: Mac n' cheese and creamed corn. Then we also decided on getting some chicken and beef brisket sliders to share. After you watch your meat get expertly prepped and your sides plated, you can walk on down the line towards the cash register, but before you whip out that plastic, you'll be greeted by a comically large display case of Ruby's sweetest surprise... cookies! I don't remember how much each cookie is, but I know that you can grab 3 for $5, and because I'm such a Cookie Monster, I went for a pack of 3. I got the Texan chocolate chip, lemon blueberry, and peanut butter chocolate kiss. I'd totally recommend the lemon blueberry because it's such a unique flavor that's quite uncommon in most cookie circles. The lemon blueberry cookie was soft and it crumbled easily under pressure, it was almost like a muffin top. The lemon flavor was so rich and delicious, and the lil' bits of blueberry just complemented the entire experience with those extra bursts of sweetness. If you love lemon cookies, these cookies are definitely a treat you don't wanna miss. I also just loved the peanut butter kiss cookie, it was made up of a large peanut butter cookie base, and it was kissed by Hershey 3 times. The cookie was soft, sweet, and sumptuous. I love the combination of peanut butter and chocolate on a tasty cookie! Everything Ruby made was delicious, and I definitely recommend trying the Ruby sauce or the Carolina sauce if you don't like your spice level too hot, but are looking for a unique BBQ flavor. I would totally come back for some more authentic Texan BBQ and some more Texas sized cookies! Pro tip: don't forget to wear your cowboy hat when you drop by for 5% off your bill!
