I just finished my meal from Rubio's in Ramona and I have to say the change in the amount of purple cabbage you put in a taco is absolutely disgusting and ridiculous! I am going to try and load the photograph of the amount of cabbage in a taco so I hope it goes through. Does anybody else love the new change in the amount of purple cabbage in your food?

California bowl with chicken and sliced avocado instead of guacamole. Less food than I was expecting. Looks pretty skimpy for the price!

Food tastes good, just a teeny portion! I sure wish the bowl was full instead of a third of the way full.

    Salad with Mahi Mahi

Tried their Mahi Mahi salad on one of the romaine pollution scare days. They had subbed out the romaine for another lettuce but the salad was still very delicious. The salad dressing didn't feel too heavy or sweet. There were two medium sized pieces of Mahi Mahi that were grilled perfectly. I was not disappointed in the food. The food came out in decent timing and I like that they had outdoor seating for people that have their dogs.

Metal chairs and wooden booth/bench that lines the front and side of the restaurant. Pillows are spread across the booth/bench for those needing a little back support. We were seated quickly and our waitress addressed us promptly, which is much appreciated. I ordered the nonalcoholic blackberry mojito. It took all of my might not to drink it all at once. So refreshing, not overly sweet. We ordered the Brussel sprouts appetizer, which appeared faster than we had expected. Yummy I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with the fried chicken. He ordered the burger. Fettuccine light but with excellent flavor, the fried chicken was moist and not over coated. The burger was oozing with beef juices. Although his mashed potatoes were a bit dry, the gravy was very tasty. I'd say the atmosphere is casual, but not shorts and tank casual. Definitely not business casual or dressy. The staff were all so kind and checked in on us and attended to our needs when requested. Go in and check it out for yourself, you won't regret it. It's a great place but one drawback is the inside dining seating isn't comfortable for "lazy" dining (as you don't want to sit on the seats long)

That commitment to quality and sustainability is commendable and something more restaurants should strive for. The staff is knowledgeable, and it's refreshing to see a restaurant that cares about where its food comes from. Unfortunately, that attention to ingredient sourcing seems to stop when it comes to cooking oils. Many of the menu items are prepared with soybean oil, which was disappointing given the otherwise high-quality and health-conscious image of the restaurant. Soybean oil is highly processed and contains large amounts of omega-6 polyunsaturated fats. While omega-6 fats are essential in moderation, excessive consumption relative to omega-3 intake has been associated with increased inflammation in some research. Soybean oil is also more susceptible to oxidation when exposed to high cooking temperatures, potentially producing compounds that some studies suggest may contribute to oxidative stress. In addition, many health-conscious consumers actively avoid industrial seed oils such as soybean, corn, and canola oils in favor of alternatives like olive oil, avocado oil, butter, or tallow. I would gladly give Marinade on Main a higher rating if they aligned their cooking oils with the same local, high-quality standards they apply to the rest of their ingredients. Switching to avocado oil or olive oil or beef talo would be a welcome improvement and would better match the restaurant's otherwise impressive commitment to quality. * also loose the standard strip of high fructose sodas and provide more natural optikns of drinks ...

BEST MEDITERRANEAN!!! 10 stars!!!…read more We ordered two plates: one beef shawarma and a combo of chicken shawarma and gyro. First of all, the generous portions of meat are so tasty, lean, and tender. The meats were on a huge pile of the most delicious yellow rice I've ever had. Ever. Rice is usually just a nice side dish. But this rice was so moist and extra delicious! I don't know what they do to make it taste so good. The meat and rice had delicious house-made tzatziki heavily drizzled across it. All plates come with a fresh, crispy side salad, also a generous portion, and even a side of yummy hummus! And my personal favorite was included: sour pickle spears sliced thin. Oh yum!! The portions are so large that Both my husband and I only ate half our plates at lunch and each had a full dinner with the leftovers. I can't speak for their other foods like pizza and calzones. But authentic Mediterranean is our favorite food, and Sofie's is one of the best we've had. We make a point to eat it a few times a month, always looking for new places. We live about an hour from here, but If we go back to the area we'll be heading right to Sofie's. My only regret is not taking photos to show how amazing it all looked when they serve it. I ordered one kind of on a whim, and wow -- it totally exceeded my expectations. The crust was perfect, the sauce had that rich, homemade flavor, and the whole thing came together beautifully. It was a little smaller than I imagined, but honestly the taste made up for it completely. The place itself is small, super clean, and tucked away in a little strip mall -- kind of easy to miss if you don't know it's there. The staff isn't overly chatty, but you can tell they care about their work and run a tight, organized kitchen. The bright, casual vibe makes it an easy spot to sit down and enjoy your meal without any fuss. If you're in Ramona, SOFI's Pita is definitely worth a stop for lunch or a quick bite. Whether you go for the Mediterranean dishes or try the pizza (which I highly recommend), you'll leave happy. Hidden gem for sure!

I had heard great things about this place, which makes it even more disappointing. The only positive was the quaint country ambiance, including a nice old mural on the wall. Service was a bit slow, but it was a busy Sunday morning, so that's understandable and not part of my rating. The food, however, was inedible. I should note here that I came in quite hungry and with a specific hankering for a greasy chicken fried steak and eggs, so I was in a very easy to please state. I ordered the eggs "over medium," and the eggs came out with raw, runny whites and were also cold. The toast didn't arrive until 5-10 minutes later, so everything just sat there getting colder. The "steak" was mostly fat and gristle. The first couple of bites I ate were gristly but doable with help from the gravy - but the third bite was a giant glob of gristly fat that I couldn't even chew - i spit it out and that's all I ate. The hash browns tasted like frozen unseasoned potatoes with only a patch of sear on the outside while the bulk of it was mushy and pasty and gross. Of the whole meal I basically only ate my toast plus a bite or two of each thing on my plate. I left feeling sick to my stomach. After dropping off the food (and later the delayed toast), our server never checked back. No refills, no follow-up. When she finally returned, she asked to clear my very full, barely touched plate without any acknowledgment. I had to volunteer that the food was inedible. The response was dismissive and rushed, with no effort to understand the issue or make it right. An offhand "sorry about that" was offered while walking away, followed shortly by the $60 bill. The complete lack of accountability and concern was frankly abhorrent. This was one of the worst dining experiences I've had, and I won't be back. I would have left hungry except that I was queasy from the gristle and paste.
