I've been driving this road for years and just found this place on Yelp and it rocks. Breakfast burritos were great, the owner and his son were super nice as I was there right at open. Outdoor and quaint indoor seating. Literally exactly what you want from a small family owned restaurant. Pop in to work and jump right on the freeway for your commute, but whatever you do don't just drive past. read more

My boyfriend found this cute spot while searching for a place for us to go for breakfast. It looked good but of course I had to check yelp first to make sure they had parking and they do! They have a cute outdoor area for dining outside or you can eat inside. I ordered a chorizo burrito which comes with chorizo, eggs, rice, and beans. I'm not a fan of beans so I asked for no beans and added potatoes instead. I also ordered an orange juice which is freshly squeezed and so delicious. They also have different aguas as well which I'll have to try next time! When my burrito came out it came with two sides of salsa which we think was homemade and it was so good! Honestly two sides of it wasn't enough haha. The burrito was good without it but the salsa just elevated it! The staff were very friendly and their service was great. We came a little after breakfast ended but they still let us order from their breakfast menu. It feels like a cute little mom and pop restaurant and I love it. More people need to support these kinds of places so they don't get bought out by big over hyped places. We will definitely be coming back again. read more

This place is a bit hidden away but worth it. It has parking! I ordered the bacon egg and cheese burrito and orange juice and its the best ive had in a while. Fresh scrambled eggs, butter, cheddar jack cheese and chopped up bacon. Service was great and polite. We technically had arrived after breakfast had ended but they offered us anyway. The salsa they gave us was so good im definitely asking for extra next time. It wasnt busy when we went on a saturday morning. Its very homey and welcoming. You dont feel rushed to order and leave. Its quiet, lots of natural light and fun decor. I really miss these kind of places. No frills no gimmick just good food and a place that doesnt overwhelm you with bright lights loud music or convoluted menus. It has patio seating too! Definitely coming back here. Theres a wide selection of pastries read more

This is my go-to spot for breakfast, I've been coming here for at least 20 years! This is a mom and pop place, it feels very authentic and "home-y." The service is great and the food is ALWAYS consistent. My favs are the breakfast croissant and the breakfast sandwich. My picky-eater is the breakfast burrito which says a lot! Parking is conveniently located onsite and it's right by the freeway. read more

I stopped by here for breakfast while I was walking around LA before my flight. The food was fantastic (I had the steak omelette) and the portions were very generous! There was plenty of seating and it felt very homey and comfortable. Great vibe, especially after a busy day previously and an eventful morning. Food came out quickly and the guy behind the register was very kind and super cool. Definitely a hidden gem and well worth a visit! read more

Gold mine. First time here but not the last. The food was so tasty, service was above & beyond. Bathroom was clean. This is a family owned restaurant over 25 years. Can't wait to come back. read more

Homemade type meals - I came here for breakfast but would be willing to return to try other food items. Plenty of seating both inside and out, and a bathroom you can ask to use but it's not public. Coffee was solid, comes black and you can add sugar/cream on the side. No weird taste, just a good hot coffee. Huevos chorizo - Good amount of food for breakfast, I probably finished half of it. Comes with option of tortilla or toast on the side. Not overly salty which I can appreciate. Plantains - softer that I would've liked but fine. I do love a good plantain. Location is cute with themed decor and plenty of sunlight that gets into the covered part of the cafe. You can also choose to eat outside in the courtyard, and there are a couple tables right next to the street too. They're definitely equipped for larger crowds, but when I visited on a Sat morning it was calm enough. Cute spot pretty close to the E Line which is convenient. read more

Cute family restaurant tucked away behind other businesses. A bit hard to find but truly a gem. Super easy parking (huge lot). It's been here for over 20yrs and I just love that it's family run and food is for sure made with love like someone's mom cooked for you. Food is quick and delicious, service is so friendly and sincere, and prices are so affordable. Weekend breakfast is still available after 11am. Love the huge covered patio space, my dog loves roaming around there. We love supporting this family business! read more

Parking is limited, but it's well worth your time to find parking to enjoy the food I recommend it!

Another wonderful breakfast burrito to add to our weekend rotation! We ate here a long time ago and remembered liking it but since we were on sampling mission it has been awhile. I want very much to try their other items on the menu they have quite the array of options. This food just tastes homemade, so delicious. I might ask for another salsa option next time not sure if they have it. Large burrito and great prices. Looking forward to their other eats too! read more

I would rate this place less than a star if possible. I sat out at the patio and heard their employee drop the nword 3 times. I heard about this place from my boyfriend. He works out here in LA and comes here often. However, I haven't had the chance to come out here because it is a bit far considering I was coming from riverside so I waited MONTHS to try it. I found Rubio's on Yelp while seeking out a breakfast burrito, making my way straight from LAX. I ordered the Rubio breakfast burrito and sat down at one of the tables. Within a few minutes, my burrito was ready. Delicious! I loved every bite. The accompanying salsa was a delicious addition, I used it all. Big portion, luckily I had my girlfriend to split it with. Next time, I'm definitely getting the #3 breakfast burrito, which has rice in it (yum). This was an awesome find and I liked it a lot. read more

For $13 I was hoping my huevos rancheros would taste a lot better but the beans tasted strange and the ranchero sauce wasn't very good.

It's rare to find such a genuine cafe hidden right next to a........gentleman's club. Glitz and glamour, people. I mean, it makes absolute perfect sense doesn't it? After a titty run, you want to do a nice burrito run. But it's more of a delicious, wholesome, family run type of place. The breakfast burrito is far from dirty. Fresh grilled veggies, egg, mushrooms. The huevos rancheros is also bomb. Anyway, don't be deterred by the almost run down surroundings and sketchy looking people. It's right next to the 10 on ramp and quite easy to miss. The inside is quite modest and laid back. Old family run cafe/diner type of feel with a substantial patio with some greenery. read more

Was craving a breakfast burrito this morning...a real one...not one from the "golden arches." I was at an early morning meeting and decided when in doubt as to what is available...YELP! This is the home of a GREAT breakfast burrito!! I had the Rubio's (minus the available veggies) and I couldn't have been happier!! The eggs were perfectly cooked as were the sauage, bacon, potatoes and onions (no beans in this one.) The salsa (side dish) was not too spicy yet certainly not bland. A nice compliment to the taste of the burrito. A glass of fresh squeezed OJ to go with...let's just say I am not eating lunch today!! Breakfast is served from 7A to 1030A on Monday through Friday. Fast, friendly service in an obviously family run place. Plenty of parking. I'll be back again! read more

Rubio's Cafe [RC]. (2.5 stars). Mexican Chorizo: "Based on the uncooked Spanish chorizo fresco (fresh chorizo), the Mexican versions of chorizo are made from fatty pork, but beef, venison, chicken, kosher, turkey, and even tofu and vegan versions are made. The meat is usually ground (minced) rather than chopped, and different seasonings are used." - Wikipedia Rubio's Cafe taught me a foodie lesson! I never knew there was a difference between Mexican and Spanish Chorizo?! Much like I recently learned that "Mexican" is not a language. Sigh... I also didn't know that even though their sign says Mexican and American food, Rubio's also specializes in Latin cuisine. My my, the things I learned on this trip to "West America" were humbling. I decided to try Rubio Café after a friend sent me a text saying he always eats at RC when he is in town. My friend recommended the chorizo burrito which sounded amazing to me! What I didn't know was that I have been loving SPANISH CHORIZO all my life... not Mexican chorizo. *Sniffle* I ordered the following: #3: Chorizo Burrito. (2.5 stars). When my chorizo burrito arrived, I was taken aback by the shear size and weight!? Holy chorizos, who can eat this whole thing?? I took a bite of my burrito sans the salsa, just to taste the burrito and filling on its own. The chorizo was mild and sparse while the eggs, beans, and rice were generously portioned. In all honesty, the burrito, while extremely filling, was bland. I had hoped that the chorizo would give the burrito an overall seasoned bite, but all I got was a bite of bland ground meat, beans, eggs, and rice. I tried the salsa, which had a slightly thicker consistency, but it too was quite bland. So, I had to resort to the final sauce left... Tapatio. The Tapatio sauce helped me enough to get through 1/4 of the burrito. Unfortunately for me, after that 1/4 was gone, no amount of hot sauce could get me to continue eating my burrito. I didn't want to keep dousing my burrito with Tapatio. Nor did I want to continue to eat a one-note dish. --- I'm sure my expectations of chorizo definitely played a part in my unhappy burrito experience. If you're looking for a wicked cheap place to get filled up, RC is your place. The staff here is extremely friendly and patient. Excellent customer service. RC is located on the right hand side on a one way street (S. Robertson Blvd). There is a private parking lot located adjacent to RC which is FREE while dining at RC. RC serves hot entrées for lunch. Call for the specials of the day! The hot entrées are served from a warmer, buffet style, so I wouldn't be back to try their lunch menu but I do wish RC well. read more

How I rate: ***** - Best in class (has nothing to do with ambiance). **** - Worth driving out of your way for. *** - Will come back, if in the area. ** - Better options out there. * - Don't do it! _____ A wonderful, no frills diner for breakfast or lunch, run by the nicest family you'll meet in LA (dad, mom, son). The breakfast burritos? On point, and comes with great homemade salsa. The omelettes? Also spot on. The lunches? Think meat and twos (usually beans and rice), but they will replace with salads (numerous choices). If that ain't enough, they have pastries, flan, and slices of cake too. Expect to spend $12-$15 with coffee or a drink. Support these Angelenos -- the quarantine hit them hard, but they're up and running again. Same good food, same good vibes. read more

Starving, While having my car at service at Culver city honda decided to search for breakfast nearby, Rubio's Cafe was the closest. We've been coming here for years - can't believe it's taken this long to write a review. But Rubios is seriously the best - the breakfast here is our JAM. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu, but some of my favorites are the Rubios breakfast burrito (so filling), breakfast plate (eggs, plantains, and beans), and breakfast sandwich (with yummy bacon). I'm usually in the mood to have my eggs cooked a different way every time I come here, and they are a champion in terms of getting my order right each time. Love the family - seriously, you can taste the love in their food. It's what keeps us coming back. Also, huge shout out on their lunch and dessert offerings. We don't come for lunch that often (usually because we're here for brunch and fill up on breakfast food), but their chicken and carne asade dishes are crazy good. And when I'm really feeling like I need to indulge, I get a slice of their chocolate cake or fruit tarte to go. Makes my entire weekend. They are OPEN during this pandemic for take-out and delivery so do yourself a favor and get some Rubios :)! read more

The beans here are phenomenal. The food here doesn't weigh you down, and it looks and tastes healthy. It's not loaded with grease or salt which I really appreciate. Food made with care. The restaurant itself is tucked away out of sight by Venice and has ample parking. They have a patio with plenty of clean shaded tables. My first review of 2013 goes to Rubio's Cafe! While out running errands this weekend, the BF and I wanted to grab a quick brunch somewhere new... so turning to Yelp, we stumbled upon this hidden gem. I wasn't sure what to think from the reviews since at the time, Rubio's had 4.5 stars but only 22 reviews. One look at the photos and we were on our way. I'm so glad we decided to give this place a try because the food was delicious! We had the Rubio breakfast burrito and white fish plate which came with 2 sides. We sat in their outdoor patio which is pet friendly (always a plus). Completely satisfied, I wanted to come back on Sunday but found out they were closed. Can't wait to make my return and try more items off their menu! Plus, I can't rave enough of their service... so friendly and not in an "I'm only being nice to you so you can give me a tip" kind of way... genuinely nice and kind which is a rarity these days. read more

They now have dinner hours and they are next to a strip club. LOL I got the seafood quesadilla which was so rich and flavorful it tasted like risotto. We also got guac/salsa and the chips are free. My boyfriend got a burrito which was the size of the Chipotle burritos. It looks like a log. The beans and rice that came with my dish were okay, well more like the beans rather. It didn't taste like refried beans and kinda looked like baked beans. The chips and salsa were good. The outdoor seating is cute. It has a fountain and is fenced in. Service was great, very nice and sweet people, seems family run. We were the only clients on a Saturday at like 7pm I think. I heard breakfast and the lunch (buffet) is super popular. read more

So excited that this place is officially open for dinner on weekends! Came here for the first time on Valentine's Day. They had a cute set up with candles and roses on each table and had soft, romantic music playing in the background. The food was amazing, and needless to say we couldn't wait to come back! Went again last night for a last minute dinner and everything was equally as delicious. I had their tropical salmon plate while my fiancé tried their carne asada dish. The carne asada was juicy and tender, and my salmon was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Definitely our new go-to dinner spot! This place is a family-run establishment, and they're entirely dedicated to making sure that they're giving the best food and service possible. The chef himself came out to check up on us multiple times, which I think is an incredibly nice touch. Oh! And don't forget to try their desserts as well! Best flan I've ever had, by far.
