I came here for Pupusas and Punchlines, a comedy show. When you arrive, they take your name down and once the room is available they call you in by the order they take your name down, so come early for a better seat. If you show up early, you can get a drink at the bar. I suggest you don't order your food til you're seated in the comedy room. I noticed some people ordered too soon, and so they didn't get to enjoy the show along with their food because their food came first. The food was good. The $12 Paloma was good and strong enough. I'm only upset because they didn't serve tap water, so we were forced to purchase water bottles, very annoying. Came in on valentine's and it wasn't too packed at first, but it filled up pretty quickly as it got closer to 2pm. I like that they have a small parking area behind the restaurant so you don't have to find street parking. We ordered the carne guisada, some pupusas with beans and the squash/cheese which comes with the classic sauce and cabbage slaw. My friends and I came here on a Monday night to celebrate one of their birthday. We chose this place specifically because he's Salvadorian and this place is known for the pupusas. They went with the Revuelta Con Todo, Chicharron which is pork and Ayote Y Question which is Italian Squash with cheese for their pupusas. I went with the Mar Y Tierra which is Ribeye steak and shrimp, it also come with rice .. beans .. pico de gallo. I didn't want the bean so I asked for extra pico de gallo instead, our waiter said they can only do salad or extra rice. I got the salad and ordered a coke which is the one in the glass bottle. My friends got the horchata and kola champagne which is the El Salvador favorite soda. Our food took a while to come out but it's because they hand make the pupusas so it takes time. My ribeye and shrimp was delicious even though the ribeye was more flat. I really like the pico de gallo and was bummed they wouldn't do extra since I think it's cheaper than the salad. The pupusas were not and my friends ordered like 3 orders of each for themselves. They really like the pupusas especially with the sides and sauce it comes with. The customer service here was amazing and the inside of the restaurant is very authentic. The bar was closed so maybe it's not popular on a Monday. They have private lot in the back for parking or you can look for street parking. We had a great time here and would love to come back if we're in the area again. read more

He was personable, professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable with the menu. He offered me few options and the decision was ours. My friend and I shared couple of dishes which was flavorful, tasty, fresh and delicious. She had water and I had water and Mango margarita (blended) I hardly drink and it wasn't too strong...which I liked. Got their pupusas, Mar Y Tierra which is Rib Eye Steak with fine, grilled prawns/shrimp, Salvadorian rice, mashed black beans, small round tortillas, and salad. Pupusas came with pork, beans and cheese. It was my first time trying it and I really liked the texture and taste. Size was BIG, and still had left overs from the meal. Nice, generous portions with affordable prices. They have a full bar and it is kind of cute that is just a step away from the restaurant, but inside the restaurant. Like a separate room. This is one of those great places that I'd want to keep to myself but can't be greedy with it because it's too great not to share. Every item in this menu is spectacular, filled with authentic fresh homemade flavors you can't find elsewhere in Los Angeles. I make it a point to get at least two different pupusas, and entree to eat half there and take home the rest, AND the tastiest empanadas ever, their fried Plantain empanadas with sweet milk. Fast forward to Jan 2026 and after seeing the reviews here I decided to give them another try. No bleach smell, in fact the interior is lovely. Sadly, the food didn't improve. Loved all but one comedian that focused on her cancer survivorship ( which hits home) not all outcome were positive like hers - she also brought in her personal political views. Breakfast are amazing and filling, chile relleno, sopa de res, and the chicharron con yuca is on point. My husband loves sopa de pata (cow foot soup). Tamarindo juice and ensalada juice are super refreshing and natural. They have live mariachi singer on Sundays 1-4pm who is as good if not better than Chente. Very enjoyable. Back again in LA- this time we went to Jaragua- in Korean Town of all places! I have been to many Salvadorian places, some are good, some not, but others really deserve the crown. Jaragua definitely has the taste of El Salvador and is one of the Top locals. From the moment you step foot, you feel transported by the art, culture and feel of El Salvador. Today we arrived deep- 15 Strong- and it was phenomenal. One server backed by two helpers, everyone just started to order and the plates began to come one after the other, like an assembly line. We were hesitant about this Restaurant as we grew up going to Atlacatl and the day Atlacatl closed down our hearts were broken. However, when we gave Jaragua a chance ,we found a place that honors fresh ingredients that are key to tasty, fluffy Tamales . It wasn't packed and the waitress were prompt. We ordered the Tilapia plate, pupusas de loroco, pupusas de frijoles and Pan con Pavo ( Hot Turkey Sandwich) All the items were so authentic tasting. I thought one of my tias were back there whippin it! All the food was freshly made and we didn't wait that long for our food. I've been eating at this establishment for well over 8+ years and I will say that it was ruined other pupusas for me. I'm an Asian guy and my very first pupusa was here. By this point in time I'd been a vegetarian well over 15+ years. To find something that was this flavorful and fulfilling was a revelation. It's been loroco and cheese since the beginning and it'll stay that way. I've since tried many a pupusa but none of them compare (Imo). It's just all goes together in one amazing bite. It has a slight char and crispiness from being cooked on the flat top and it's chewy but not too doughy. The cheese and loroco have this great flavor (Loroco is Salvadoran broccoli from what I understand). But when you add the cabbage slaw side along with the red sauce (Magic sauce) it's soooo good. They also have some habanero hot sauce which you just need to ask for and I do recommend it. Other places just can't get it all to harmonize the way it does here. Either the cabbage doesn't have flavor, the pupusa is really doughy, etc etc. For years my go to was 2 lorocos and I'd be stuffed but I discovered the chipitam tamale which is bean and cheese. They actually have it on the menu but for the longest time it wasn't on there. You just ordered it and they brought it if it wasn't sold out. I discovered one day while asking the waitress what it was. I'm ok with Mexican tamales but honestly they can be too grainy for me with the masa but salvadorian tamales are very different. They have the consistency of a steamed eggs but it's very tasty especially with the cabbage and magic sauce. The staff is super friendly and there ample parking on the street. They have a lot in the back but maneuvering around is a little tricky. It's a very welcoming atmosphere. There's tvs up for whatever soccer match is on. There's a sign pointing to El Salvador with how many miles it is which I thought was cool. When I first ate here the pupusas were 3.25 and are now 4.99. For that amount of time and with inflation/wages/etc hitting up every restaurant, it's an amazing deal and you will be super full. The pupusas are made fresh to order. Platanos are so great to eat when they come out warm. Salpicon is great for sharing as the meat is finely chopped and so much flavors. Pan con pollo is another go to dish we tend to get. Overall anything you order, I'm sure you'll enjoy. The staff is quick, friendly, and very attentive.
