I had a Fairfax County inspector come in to see what had been done so far. It failed. The inspector asked if I was sure the person who did the work had been licensed. Some places he had used too small a cable, other cables went back and forth between boxes, and in some places he'd put three lines where only two should go. I hired a new company and they also asked if a licensed electrician had done the work they were so incredulous. It's cost me almost $5,000 to redo the poor work City Lights had done. And then I found out that when he pulled our meter in April he had put it back in UPSIDE DOWN. We have an old meter so it will let power flow while upside down but will not register any use. As a result Dominion thought we were trying to steal electricity and pulled the meter without warning. It took me hours of phone calls, the intervention of our new electricians, and $1500 in cash to get our meter restored. Of course that left a black mark on our credit report. This was to date the single worst experience I'd even had with a contractor. And yes, I have photos and documentation.

Let me say Stephen is a master electrician. I wanted to purchase a hot tub for my backyard and he gave me some good recommendations for checking out credentials on the so- called electricians. Which some are only handymen. I saw his licensed info and knew that was where I needed to be. I contacted him and he gave me an estimate. Actually first let's go back. He had to check out what was needed in my house to prepare for his job. That visit was free. He then sent an estimate on the cost of everything. Which was very reasonable. He came and placed his electrical box out back near the hot tub. With every detail that was needed. He returned to finish the job of connecting the hottub. Every thing was great! They cleaned up behind themselves. Which is also an important part of the completion of the job. I highly recommend Fusting. Stephen arrived on time with an apprentice for 2 days of work which included installing receptacles for a car lift, garage fridge, and air compressor in addition to the EV charger and range. Every single electrician that priced out this job put it around $5000-6000, but my budget was $2k. These guys offered a competitive hourly rate for someone who had many years of experiencing fishing low voltage (and high voltage) lines through finished areas (John). I was able to reduce the labor requirement by being the assistant/helper throughout the day, and also doing the cable routing / behind-wall-investigation / planning / mapping / etc. work on my own before John arrived. Also, terminated all the cables on my own after he left. This brought the end price down to about $2k. This was not a quoted price, but the final amount I paid for the number of hours that John worked on this project. John, the electrician I worked with over two days, had lots of experience routing low voltage (and high voltage) lines through finished spaces in creative ways. In the end, we were able to do all 23 drops with a very, very, small number of holes. Very happy with the results. Would definitely be happy to work with this company again in the future.

Lisa also claimed they never provided me a quote. Not true I was told $435 plus materials. Make sure to get everything in writing before the job is started. Also, they don't have a safe way to pay. Be ready to give your card information over the phone like I did. They don't offer PayPal or an online website for payment. Being in business over 20+ years you would think they would offer this.
